Ratings_icons Winter fun

Robin M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,083

Okay, so Centennial Park is fun all year through and we just happen to love, love, love their holiday activities. From the lights to the ice skating rink, the park is just lovely in the winter. We have taken our oldest to the skating rink and had so very much fun. The line for the rink was a little long but so worth the wait. Definitely a must do during winter break.

Evenings the park look beautiful, with all the lights. Being in the center of the downtown should have more activities.Well made and well maintained and the entry to the park is FREE. Its a fun filled place to spend ur day..look out for concerts, shows , competitions etc occasionally. Not much of activity to do except relax and watch fountain shows on normal days. But a place has lot of memories of 1996 Olympic Games

Ratings_icons We love this park

Jeanette L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,842

My whole family loves this park. Some evenings we would just stroll along the park, and they will have fountain show daily at certain hours. It's a good place to bring your kids during summer. On every fourth Saturday of each month, you can bring your whole family there to enjoy a fun and interactive activities. It's also a great place if you plan to bring your family or visitors to see the holiday lights during this Christmas season. Located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Convenient and easily accesible.

Ratings_icons Fabulous, Fun and FREE!

Centennial Olympic Park is a patchwork of green grass and red brick. It offers entertainment all year round. In the summertime there are fountains spraying from the five rings of the Olympic logo, free concerts and picnics. In the winter there is ice skating and holiday festivities. Be sure to see The Quilt of Remembrance in the NW corner of the park, a memorial to those killed by the 1996 Olympic bombing. While there are several restaurants nearby, if you get hungry to CNN Center's food court where the food is less expensive.

Hint: Competitive sports, skating, biking and feeding the pigeons are prohibited.

Ratings_icons Fun and FREE!

My family and I love going to the fountains at Centennial Plympic Park....it's free and a great way to cool off on a hot day! You can also look at all the personalized bricks, catch a concert on some days or stop in the CNN Center for a snack orr a tour. SO much to do in one area and it's all low cost or free! My kids' love [laying in the fountains...there are always lots of other families and kids there enjoying it too. We sometimes take a picnic and relax in the grassy areas after an afternoon of playing.

Ratings_icons for families and dates

Perry S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,904

A great place to take the family or a date. Centennial Olympic Park is beautiful with dancing fountains (at certain times), a play ground area for kids which is where my neices and nephews stay busy most of the time and plenty of space to walk your date around. It's located right next to the CNN studio and very close to Underground Atlanta so if you have trouble finding a spot I would suggest parking in their garages and walking over to the Park. If you can take a picnic lunch or bring a frisbee along during the summer months, otherwise go during Christmas when you
can ice skate and see all the fantastic lights an decorations.

Ratings_icons Nice park

This is a nice area to picnic in if it is a nice time of year and you are doing something else downtown like visiting the CNN center or Philips Arena, etc. In the winter there is a small ice skating rink in the park which you can pay for. They also have a fireworks display for the 4th and concerts now and then. The fountains that are choreographed to music are always a fun amusement for the kids.

Ratings_icons A lot of money, for a little park

Kristen B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,203

Centennial Park is really a tourist-y spot. I am glad the city of Atlanta spent the cash to build it, and they do have a good free concert series in the summer. On the other hand, they should invest more in expanding Piedmont Park, which is far more beautiful.

Ratings_icons interesting visit, but nothing major

Leslie F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 810

Centennial Park is smack dab in the middle of downtown Atlanta. This was the center of the 1996 Olympic Games. It was the mecca of entertainment in 1996, but right now there's really not that much going on there. There is an interesting fountain and some occassional live music, but it's not really worth going out of your way for. There really isn't anything to do there, but it's neat to see where the Olympics were and to check out all the bricks (people could "buy" bricks and have their names forever embedded on the floors of the park's sidewalks during the Olympics).

PROS: neat history
CONS: not much to do there
