Batting cages are horrible.

by orlando c.

Batting cage pitching machines are usually out of order, balls get hung up on the feeding apparatus and constantly need adjustments on location of where balls are getting pitched. Bats provided are junk and will leave you blisters so plan to bring your own. Employees and worse even supervisors act like they could care less and seem as they would rather not have you around. A complete waste of time and money, not to mention ruining your swing.

Not bad overall

by Anonymous

There is lots of variety here including batting cages, mini-golf and many video games. The price is reasonable but the batting cages sometimes malfunction.

Fun if you're 12

by Ting W. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,402

Boomers is just a giant mishmash of toys and games and fun for young kids and family! Being so family oriented, this place is packed full with children running around and screaming their heads off. Be prepared for that. There's a video arcade section, complete with prizes. A mini golf section is also available, and quite fun! I've never been on the ferris wheel there, because its been "out of order" everytime I've gone. If you're looking for just video games and a more "adult" atmosphere however, I'd say head to D&B.

Okay, especially if free

by Joyce L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,480

Boomer's often runs ads in the San Diego Reader that include coupons for free rides or games. Those are a pretty good incentive, because otherwise I don't think this place would get much business. It's your basic run-of-the-mill arcade plus mini-golf, mini-car racing, and batting cages. It can be fun, but really isn't anything special.

All sorts of fun in one place!

by K. Y. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,017

From mini-golfing to racing around the track to riding on the ferris wheel, there is tons to do at Boomer's. It is a family-oriented place so there are a lot of kids running around and excited about the stuff that goes on. Not for the kid-hating variety. There is a video arcade as well and you can redeem little knicknacks if you fare well on video games. There are racing car games, DDR, etc. They offer a lot of deals like family packs, triple A discount, coupons, etc so be on the lookout before you make a trip to Boomers. Had lots of fun trying to mini-golf but the ferris wheel seems to be broken a lot

PROS: tons of family fun
CONS:

Don't go unless you're a kid.

by Jason W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,771

There are lots of attractions that kids of all ages would like (go karts, ferris wheel, batting cage, mini golf). But for adults its really not that much fun, especially with a bunch of kids running around. Also, the place is staffed by high school students that could care less. Its also a zoo on weekends - long lines, mass mayhem, kids crying. If you can go during the week or on a weeknight there are often unlimited ride specials to take advantage of, and youll have the whole place to yourself.

PROS: Fun for kids, uncrowded on weekdays/weeknights.
CONS: Nightmare on weekends.

Entertainment for everyone

by James C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,332

The batting cages were the most fun because we got to hit 80+mph fastballs! The best part was the staff gave us extra balls to hit for having problems with ball jams. The miniature golf course and gocart racing rounds out the fun along with arcade action. Have fun!

Amusement Park

by Jennifer H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,823

This is a great family fun park and they have activities for kids of all ages. I do feel that this park is way overpriced unless you are there for one of their special deal days. The staff is fun and very helpful with the kids.

Amusement Park

by Sara S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,703

Boomers has nearly 40 holes of miniture golf when you add together both sides of the course. The courses are creatively constructed as well. The go-karts are also a lot of fun even though the lines are usually terribly long, they are fun. Another nice thing about Boomer's is that they offer a lot of deals and have special discount days that are very helpful.

All right

by Edward T. | insider Insider | Rank: 21,357

For some mild fun, Boomers is a quick and inexpensive trip for families and groups of friends who don't want to drive up to Los Angeles to pay $40-$50 for big amusement parks and long lines. They are open long enough to keep things interesting and offer a lot of different activities to keep people amused. The concessions are average and the arcade games selections are a little boring, but it's still a fun trip every now and then.

Fun place

by Albert Joe L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,061

This is a fun place. We went there once and we had a lot of fun. Me and my friends play the minitiature golf and the karts. It is really fun. Even though this Boomers seem smaller than some other ones. It is still a good way to relax after hard work.

For the Lil ones

by Allison B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,501

Boomers is getting to be in the stage often reffered to as a "has been" or an old memory. It doesn't have the same appeal as it did when I was younger (the rides are angled for the lower ages anyway) and the place is getting run down. Despite this, it has the classic game of mini golf and a small arcade.

Sometimes better than others

by Ja'Nelle L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,893

Boomers is a place that my kids love. The rides are fun (especially the go karts) and the prices are average. The eating areas are not always as clean as I would like them to be though and the food is overpriced for my liking. Over time, they have gotten better at having most of the rides up and working but there have been times that a large percentage of the rides have been available. They of course have a disclaimer that once you pay, it isn't their problem if certain rides don't work. Sooo if you are like me and that makes a difference in weather you want to spend money taking your kids there or not, I suggest that you walk around first (you dont have to pay to get in, you just pay to ride rides or play games). They also have an arcade which is ok. I have also attended birthday parties there and they seem to go well. They have free parking and everytime I have been there, there is always a place to park. Overall, it is a place you can take the kids and have them entertained for hours. The flat fee wristbands are the best value.

Angry Staff

by Brian C. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,607

While Boomer's offers many great attractions such as miniature golf and go-kart racing the staff seems to try their best to ruin your fun. While racing go-karts they will find any little mistake as an excuse to mark your ristband so you can not go on the rides anymore. Sometimes you get lucky and are able to enjoy the rides but most of the time the staff runis the fun. This is why I gave Boomer's a three because the actual place is very fun but it seems like the staff is out to get you.

Ooodles of fun

by Harry T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,626

Tuesday and thursday specials offer unlimited go-karting, video games, batting cages, bumper boats, and miniature golf. Great place to go to if you have kids or are one. Otherwise, it's really cramped and doesn't offer a lot of games. The pizza is expensive and not too great, but you can sure lose a couple hours of your life roaming around the place.

Mundane

by Phong N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,066

This place is fun until you become 12. While they have go-carts, a large arcade, mini golf, laser tag, a battaing range and more, the facility is very cramped and dirty and is frequented by flocks of misled disallusioned teenage delinquents. Although it can be fun at times, there are other places you can visit for enjoyment.

This place is a great place for the whole family! They have 2 mini-golf courese, go-karts, bumper boats, an arcade, and more. They offer package deals, or group rates which makes the price more reasonable. I've been very pleased with the activities they have to offer. The parking is great, and the facility is usually clean and in working order.

A cool place to spend a day at

by John N. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,919

Boomer's is all about fun. They offer an arcade (although it does get a little cramped at times), gokarts, mini golf, laser tag, and some other entertainment as well. The best deals come on tuesdays and thursdays, when its 10 dollars for unlimited arcade time or 15 for arcade and gokarting. The only problem is the amount of people they admit, which is sometimes ridiculous.

This place is awesome for little kids, but nothing special, there are definitely better places to hold a birthday party but I have to say that this one is pretty cool. It has a golf course and a go-cart racing course that can prove quite entertaining. The rides are nice for kids that are anywhere from 4-10 but otherwise the rides are not worth it.

Boomer's is a pretty fun small amusement park that is small yet entertaining. It has two fun miniature golf courses and a small racetrack that is very fun to go around. The arcade is also very good, but the free games are always taken. The only real downside is that Boomer's is a little expensive and really not worth the drive.

by Jenny T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,781

Boomer's is mostly for "spontaneous" adults or children between the age of 4 - 12. The rides are mostly for the little ones but I recommend the go karts or miniature golf if you can't think of anything else to do during the night. If you plan on going, i recommend going on tuesdays or thursdays for the $10 special. its your best bet.

by Peter L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 531

Boomer's located right off the 805 is an okay place for fun. There is "10 buck tuesdays" where you can play all the arcade games for just the fee and ride almost all the rides but there's nothing really special. The go carts, which are probably the park's biggest attraction, has almost a one hour wait. Miniature golf is fun but then you are stuck behind some super slow 5 year old that couldn't do a 5 inch put if his life depended on it. But for some reason, you can always find high school guys hitting on teenage girls her. Maybe this place is not meant for little kids after all.
