12/2/2007 a group of 16 teenagers attending a birthday party decided to go to a movie - "This Christmas" at 7:05 pm at Century 16. They paid their admission and found seats in a theatre with about 45 other people. A theatre hardly filled to capacity. A few minutes into the show an usher or manager told them they would need to not laugh so loud or leave. This gentleman was described to me as a 40 year old or so, white, heavy (fat), balding man with a goatee. The girls told me that he stood in the back leering at them through-out the whole movie. The word is he was creepy! Then prior to the end of the movie 12 or 13 of the group were told to leave. The other 3 girls decided to leave also and went out another door. While in the ante room/hallway out of sight of the ushers they heard one usher say to the other "It is always fun to kick teenagers out!".

A movie without the Christmas Spirit is one thing...but to intentionally profile teenagers as a group to intimidate and then kick out of the theatre is another thing.

For my money and the money of our friends we will find another theatre to trade with where the girls can feel comfortable, safe and where they are not leered by theatre employees during their time at the movies.

We hope this will help you make an informed buying decision.

Brand new movie theatre located on the other side of the Cedar Hills shopping complex. Compared to the old, rundown, smelly places we've had to deal with, this place is clean, spartan & brand-new. Parking is a bit of a hassle at weekends. You need to get there early, and be prepared to park far away. Prices are about average, with the usual discounts for matinee & twilight showings. There's higher-than-average price-gouging at the concession stand. It's like airport prices for a captive audience. Nice seating though, and the rows are steeply angled so you don't have someone's head in the way.

PROS: Brand new. Comfy seating.
CONS: Parking at weekends. Price-gouging at the concession stand.

Since the Century 16 Cedar Hills Crossing was opened recently, I've been going to movies at this location almost exclusively. The seats are comfortable and arranged in a way in which you don't have to strain to see over the person in front of you, the parking is good, and the location has great shops and restaurants around it for pre- or post-movie shopping and/or meals.

Century 16 is really a luxury theater.. They have stadium seating with chairs that you can rest your head on and they rock just a bit. They are much roomier than your average theater seat. The snack bar is very unique also. It's like a cafeteria style concession area. You pick up the items you want and buy them at the end of the counter. It seems to be much faster this way. After the movies you can take your ticket over to the mall and use it for a dinner at 1/2 at the Noodle'n Restaurant.

This is a wonderful theater. Everything is really nice in here because it is very new. It is also in a great location and it is very close to all highways. They have very comfortable seating and theirs snacks are priced fairly. Nice place to go.

If not for the McMenamins, this would be the best movie house in Portland. They don't serve beer or have couches, but they have easily the steepest stadium seating in town. Their popcorn is good and uses actual butter (Regal uses "popcorn flavor"...grease) and their concessions are abundant. There's an elevator that takes you to the upper level of the main auditoriums, great for those who are in wheelchairs and don't want to sit down front. It's the only truly THX certified theater in town (everyone has THX movies, but not the official certification.)

This is brand new and our new favorite. We will pay the extra few dollars to sit thru a movie here! They offer much more leg room, comfortable seats and an extensive snack bar! They even have starbucks coffee on hand!! What more can you ask for?

The recently-built Century 16 at Cedar Hills Crossing is a state-of-the art theater complex complete with every type of goodie you can think of to eat.

The downside is the prices. Why are hot dogs $3.50?

The best part of this theater complex is there are NO commercials shown before the movie! Only the trailers. None of those annoying spots and ads to sit through! Rejoice!

Ticket prices are pretty average as far as today's rates. You can see a show for as little as $6 all before 4pm, pay $5.25 from 4-6pm, and upwards of $8.25 after 6. ($8.50 on Friday/Saturday) Seniors and children under 11 get a discounted rate for all shows, and the theater does accept Student IDs for discounts.

They also have an arcade. (Remember those?)

PROS: no commercials, staduium seating, clean, all types of movies
CONS: prices for food
