Tara Energy is the company try to rip u off in terms of showing the lowest kwh rates for Commercial electricity but when the statement comes in 400 times more then they have quote on you through the different ways as saying they are the center point charges (center point charges are to be 2.5c at the most but the charges 0.18c extra which jumps ups a whole lo tand they do not give you the itemized charges to you as you ecletricity charges are $35.00 dollars they Extra charges could be as high as $150.00 more extra

Warning: There is no grace period with TARA Energy. If you cannot pay on or before the exact due date, regardless of when you're paid, you will incur a sizable late fee. It doesn't matter if you are on Social Security, a fixed income, or disabled, etc. There is no flexibility with this company for even one day. After 5 days from due date, you receive a disconnect notice. I cannot recommend this company, nor will I renew my contract.

I just signed up with this company and I already regret it deeply. So far, I've spoken with 10 different reps (all very nice btw) that cannot seem to resolve my problem. They've charged me a $275 deposit (that I wasn't aware they would charge). I finally got someone on the phone that finally told me that I can send in my past 3 months, paid, on-time receipts from my old electric company and they would waive the deposit. So I did this...sent in my last 3 invoices. Well, they denied my request. No explanation.

I let them know that I'm not happy with the service so far and that I'll be canceling promptly after my contract term. I will go with my old company, Startex, after that as they did not require any deposit from me and they honored my history of on-time payments.

One of the worst electrical providers in Texas. My electric bill was double the average bill for 3 months without any reason. When I complained, Their reply was that they can change rates whenever they feel like without any notice, even If there is a term contract for a lower rate. Scam. Please avoid dealing with them

ONE of the worst companies, They have horrible customer service reps , who are rude , and i am customer who paid my bills every month on time , i have never been late . They keep their customers happy for the first few months then after a while you can see unusual charges and even if they hike their charges they will not let you know until you see your bill carefully. They say that they are active in the South Asian community trust me i am a South Asian and they are bogus company.

I don't know what others are talking about. I am a customer of Tara Energy since 2005 and I can definitely say that I have never had an issue with anything -- customer service to prices. They have always kept me on the price I signed up for and they always inform me when my contract is up for renewal and give me plenty of time to renew. Some people are lazy and ignore letters and emails and thats why their rates might have gone up. I have called customer service many times to pay my bills etc and the service has always been world class. I have recommended Tara to all my family and friends and there are great referral deals and offers. I would ask all of you to give Tara a try before listening to any of the negative reviews.

I'm a Korean-American.

I have been with Tara Energy about 2years so far for my Business and residential. I switched to Tara Energy because their rate on the news paper adv. was pretty cheap compare to other provider .

And now I'm even happier that they have Korean Employee who helps Korean Customers using Korean language.

Frankly, once I even called him in the weekend to ask my bill payment , and he kindly answered the phone and helped me right away.

I used to use a big electric provider before but I always had a problem to get to the right employee.

I don't care how Tara used to be ,but I think Tara Energy today
really fulfill my need not only on the rate but also with excellent service.

I have been using Tara energy for by business and residential since beginning of 2010.

I am full of suprise that Tara energy rate is the lowest of 5 different major electric companies that I compared with ,and so far there has been no hidden charge at all.

Customer service is pretty friendly and fast.

I'm highly satisfy with Tara Energy.

WORST SERVICE EVER. Before i signed up I specifically asked about monthly fees or any set up fees and they said there were none. All of the sudden I'm paying t&d each month, which would've been fine if they hadnt lied to me about my rate. I pay on average over 10 cents per kwh as opposed to what my "fixed" rate really was 7.25. the overall price isnt a rip off, just how sleazy and dishonest and rude they are. I'd rather pay 13 cents with a different company than 10 with them.

I have been a customer for many years and I have nothing bad to say about Tara energy. They have always been very helpful and have always saved me money. These other reviews mention that their rates changed etc, well they might have signed up for a variable product because they were seeing savings instantly but I have always stuck to their fixed plans and have always known what my bill is going to look like. Their customer service is great and they also donate a portion of my bill to my favorite charity. I have looked at other companies in the market but Tara Energy surpasses all of them in rates, customer service and community outreach.

The person that posted positive reviews needs to wait and see what happens after a few more months.
I had a contract for 36 months , inspite of that they raised my rate form 12 c to 16 c without notice when I got my bill , I fell of the chair.
Customer service was not helpful. When I asked to talk to a supervisor on 3 occasions , I was put on hold for 15 mins to 45 mins. No was came on the line.
BEWARE !!!!

Tara Energy is a Scam company. They will sign you in fixed rate contract and couple months down they will double your rates. Just ask hundreds of ex-customers who were charged double their contracted rates in 2008. stay away from scam companies such as Tara energy. you can check PUC of Texas as well

Last year I got a letter from them saying they can provide me the electiricity at 10.5 C only for a 12 months contract...so I thought its a good deal, and I signed up with them...later when i saw the bill they had charged T&D charges in addition to the fixed rate...I spoke to them and was told you have to pay no matter which provider you go with and i din't bother to check with others...recently I found out that other providers also charge T&D but its build in to the charges they quote you but these folks are charging in addition the rate I was told...these guys are crooks they know how to mislead people...

my family used to pay alot for the electricity bills every years...the rates were keep increasing every year....so one day i found about Tara Energy and then we switched to Tara last year...you won't believe thaat we save about $25-$35 each month and we had no problems with them....they don't change their rates and they have a really good customer service so i think my family is going to stick with this electricity provider...we have been using it for an year and we find it really satisfactory....
