What a rip-off!!! Was not even worth the $22.00 per person. I've had better experiences at different zoos'. The only good thing was going to Johnny Rockets. The staff was rude and kept wanting to take your picture. The tunnels were ok but couldn't enjoy because kept getting pushed.

The first thing that most people will complain about with the Newport Aquarium is the price. Before you go on that rant though, try to consider what that money goes towards. You're dropping $20 per person, but all of these beautiful animals have to be purchased, fed, medically evaluated and treated, and generally looked after. To a rationally thinking person, the price of admission to this place is fair for what the money goes towards. I just wouldn't come in a large group if one person is paying for everyone.

The big con for this place, from my several experiences, is the over-crowding. The tunnels are fairly open but they still don't really comfortably accommodate the large crowds that are pushing through, especially with all the children running around. You may find yourself struggling to put the crowd out of your mind to just enjoy the place if you're these as an adult or couple rather than with your children.

The pros are obvious once entering. They have a bountiful array of ocean life all through the weaving tunnels and several exhibits are open-air so that you can somewhat experience the wild-life. They do know how to filter adults into spending money as the gift store is strategically located at the end after the penguins and you must go through it to exit, the picture both is directly after getting off the escalator to go into the aquarium itself, and the cafe is located at the petting tank for the kids. So don't be surprised if your children lure you into spending more money than you had anticipated. ;)

All in all though, the work that the Aquarium has put into assuring the large array of wildlife, the informative boards and video, and the beautiful construction of the tunnels and exhibits makes the money spent well worth the experience. Anyone who has been to places like Ripley's Aquarium in North Myrtle Beach and left disappointed and shocked at the lack of quality and real marine life will understand exactly why the size and scope of Newport's system is so incredible and rivals even that of the Chicago Aquarium.

I'm 20 years old, but still love animals.

This place was a great experience. I learned a lot about different fish, and the environment was comforting. It wasn't loud, which I enjoyed.
The price was kind of high, but I can see why.
I highly recommend it no matter what age you are.

We love the Newport Aquarium and enjoy it often. The location is even better with all the new restaurants on the Levy that are available. Parking can somewhat complicated at times but I think they've improved it considerably since it first opened. My kids just LOVE the shark tank! They actually swim overhead!

PROS: Shark tank; restaurants close-by
CONS: Parking

A wonderful Aquarium with an outstanding water tank full of sharks and other water life. You can actually see the sharks swimming above your head. I think it is priced too high for adults.

Everyone in our family loves going to the Newport aquarium but boy does it hurt the wallet. I recommend looking for a coupon. Anyhow they have all the rare exotic fish and the petting zoo. They special thing is the Shark Ray. They are the only place in this hemisphere that has it and the kids really enjoyed seeing it. The gift shop isnt to bad and the food is good. There is no time limit on the tour so you get to show and see everything yourself so that is nice. I recommed going there if you ever get a chance the kids will jsut love it.

I love this aquarium! We've been going since they opened, back when we were dating. We now have a daughter who is 2 and we took her in the spring and she LOVED it! They have an exhibit where you can touch some sea creatures and the tunnels are just amazing. You can 'walk on water'! And they have alligators and the jellyfish are just BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to visit again!

Visiting the aquarium is a lot of fun because you learn something new every time. There are so many things on display with so much to learn about each creature, that every subsequent visit can't get boring. Short movie presentations keep rotating every few months as well as special exhibits. Kids definitely will have fun here.

Children really enjoy this aquarium, very family friendly. It is divided into sections of fish/aquatic life by region. Many different species are represented. Of particular delight is the section of deadly fish and reptiles!

PROS:
CONS: Way too much $$ for the membership

My family went on an evening deal like 1 adult get 2 kids in free after 4pm. It was still $30-35. When we went in people wanted to take our picture, and when we said no they were snippy with us. We wern't going to buy them anyway. The visit was really short, it was really crowded. The fish were neat but it's just not worth all that money, I feel sorry for people who pay full price. I don't like that you have to go through to smelly restaurant to continue on through. Every chance they got, they were trying to get you to buy something. The bird juice was even a rip off.

The tunnels are great and make you feel like you're underwater. The exhibits are great and kids love seeing the colors and variety of fish and other marine life. Price is a bit steep, but still gives a nice afternoon of fun, and there is a lot to do on the Levee.

We went here on a family fun day. I have to say it was a very pleasent experience. We had coupons so the price to get in wasn't that bad. I would sugesst looking for coupons for it in the local coupon savers, otherwise it's a bit pricey. The exhibits they had there were very nice. They don't just have fish here, they also have other water animals.

When the aquarium first opened to the public , there were a lot of people saying how great it would be, I went there after it opened, and its okay to visit just not as rich in experience that I had thought it would be.The see through flooring and the sharks I found to be entertaining.I have not been there in awhile, but they have added a rain forest exhibit where you can feed free flying birds, now that my daughter will love!General admission for adults is$17.95 and $10.95 for children. The place is clean and the staff is nice.

I went here about a year or 2 ago. They have alot of exhibits or tanks whatever, you want to call them. It really neat where you go through like a tunnel thing. The penguins were also really cool to watch. It can be a lil pricey but was definately worth going once. I probably will go again in the future.

have you experienced the creatures of the water? This place is awesome for the whole family. There are many attractions and they always seem to have new features every summer. The last time I was there was the theme where the main features were the sharks. They are scary, they showed different types of shark such as the hammerhead shark which is really scary, I'm telling you! The place is safe and although I recommend it, I am telling you guys... eat out before or after you go here because the price for the food are ridiculously expensive!

We drove up to Newport Aquarium from Louisville, and it was worth the drive. This is a really nice place to take your children. They will love looking at the various types of fish, frogs, sharks, jellyfish and much more. Our favorite exhibit was the penguins, where there was stadium style seating so you could sit down and watch the penguins play. My children loved the long acrylic tunnels you could walk through and see a variety of fish and sharks. Make sure you go into the Cinergy Theater where something surprising will happen. I will not ruin the surprise by telling you. Go and see for yourself. Prices are high, but I bet it costs a lot to run the place. There is a nice place to eat and a gift shop. There is plenty of parking spaces close by.

If you have $20, you can buy yourself a ticket to the Newport Aquarium. That doesn't sound too pricey, but what if you are a family of FIVE? Yes, it costs that much to get in. Is it worth it? Well, yes. The aquarium exhibits change frequently, and the clear glass tunnels are astounding. The shark exhibit and different movies are well worth the trip. You do get funneled directly into the gift shop, so be prepared to wander through the store before exiting. Parking will be about $3 at Newport's parking garage.

This is a great addition to any trip you make to the Cincinnati area, especially if you have kids. Its an awesome aquarium. Zagat even rates it as the best in the midwest. Also, this summer they had a really cool shake exhibit, not sure how long that runs. Check their sight for any up coming attractions. Really nice facility and located on the Levee in Newport, so you can SHOP when you're done!

This is a really neat aquarium. I almost tend to forget that the Cincinnati area has an aquarium, but it is a neat place to visit once in awhile. The prices to get in are quite expensive, which make going there limited. However, they have lots of neat animals and fun hands on things to do. They have glass tunnels you can go through and have sharks swim over you. The area that the aquarium is also a really neat area so you can make a day out of going to the newport area. After going to the aquarium, you can walk across the way and go to the seafood restaurant where you can EAT some of the things you just saw!

This is a wonderful place to bring children for learning experiences, they offer an open shark tank, a penguin display, a poisonous snake and critter display along with thier newest addition, the rainforest area with birds that are free-flying openly. I have not been yet since they opened the rainforest but I think it will be exciting when I go. The pricing is fair ,and they do offer a gift shop.

PROS: great family outing, great learning experience

Okay. So it is quite expensive to go to the aquarium, but it's good family entertainment with a little layering of education. The layout is not the best but they do have really good rotating exhibits. The shark tank is really nice. I agree with the other reviewer who stated that the food was expensive. It was!! Sure the zoo is great...but it doesn't really have an aquarium like this one so I suggest visiting both.

Our favorite exhibit at the aquarium were the penquins. Be sure not to miss them since they are at the very end. They are so humorous to watch and there were probably about 30 or more in a glassed in area where you could sit and enjoy them.

I had a horrible experience. The staff was rude. It was overpriced. The carpet was dirty. I got lost and they argued with me when I came out. They finally let me back in and showed me the right way to get through. All they have is Jellyfish. Very disappointing. I will never go there again.

The have glass tunnles that make you feel like your in the middle of the ocean. But the ticket prices are REALY expensive for what your getting out of it. ANd the food is out rageous. I would say only go if you have a good discount coupon and EAT befor you go. THe view of the river out side the aquarium is great it would be nice to pack a lunch and eat on one of the benches. Also I went with my husband just the two of us NO kids and we ate there and spent altogether about 50 or 60 dollars so if you have kids It would be even more .

The Newport Aquarium is a nice place to go. There is plenty to see and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. There is a lot for both children and adults to do and it really is interesting. Even the food offered in their restaurants isn't bad. However, the ticket prices are outrageous since they are far more than those for the zoo. It is definitely not an affordable place to take the family.

The Newport Aquarium, located at Newport on the Levee just across the Ohio river from Cincinnati is a great local attraction. The aquarium has plenty of tanks, fish, and information to fill a day for a family, or makes a fun and interesting place to take a date. With their 300,000 gallon shark tank, where visitors are totally surrounded while walking through tunnels in the tanks to their hands on touch tank, this aquarium is fun, educational, and visually stimulating. Also, the new otter exhibit puts you in a tropical paradise where you can sit and watch these fun little critters play all day long.

PROS: Educational, Fun, Relaxing, Family Friendly

We took friends who had a 6 year old that were visiting from TN. Luckily I had free tickets that I had won at a work function. But we still had to buy one adult ticket, 20 bucks! The entire visit there took less than 2 hours. We couldnt find anyone to ask questions to about the animals. They only had two ticket windows open and the line was at least 25 people deep to purchase tickets. The place was not easy to find from the garage. The gift shop was very outdated and overpriced. We went to one show where we got to watch divers but we couldnt hear half of what she was saying. Much better value to go the zoo, which we did the next day.

We had a few hours to waste before our flight out of Greater Cincinnati airprot; so, we decided to try the Aquarium
First, there were 3 people working the front area; but, only one person manning the cash register. She was filling out an application for a year pass for someone. Meanwhile, the line was 10 deep. No one else seemed to know how to work the other registers to take our money! Half of the displays were empty (dead fish?), 2 were totally closed down for repair (this was not told to us at time of purchasing the tickets). Some displays also had no explanation of what you were supposed to be looking at.. The worst part? We spoke with a manager about the issues and she basically told us "too bad". She also admitted it might be a good idea to put a sign up regarding closed displays! I feel sorry for families who pay a hefty admission price for this dump! Newport may have cleaned up their red light district; but, they are still scamming people! Don't waste your money...

The Newport Aquarium is an excellent place to take your family and spend time exploring all the animals. You can look or touch. Its an exciting way to teach your children about the water creatures.

If you don't get the chance to travel to all of the different parts of the world, take the time to travel here. Some areas are interactive and it is just flat out neat to see all of the different creatures. The shark tank is by far one of the best exhibits.

While I feel the Newport Aquarium was a needed addition to Cincinnati's entertainment venues, I think it's overall execution is fair at best. The exhibits, while breathtaking, are laid out in a poor manner, forcing visitors to stop at their overpriced concession area (whose food left something to be desired - like perhaps a roll of Tums). The penguin exhibit was very cute, although small - the Cincy Zoo had a larger exhibit. Then it was on to the gift shop, which harbored perhaps the best gift of all - the only exit. The absolute worst thing about the Aquarium, though, is the price. I'd hesitate to bring more than 2 people there, much less an entire family, unless I'd inherited a large sum of money. The Cincy Zoo is a far better alternative for families, and is much cheaper.

In Short
The Newport Aquarium offers unexpected delights of the underwater variety. Two hundred feet of acrylic tunnels allow the fish to be seen in depth as they swim overhead and down each side. Monkeyface eels, longhorn…
