Housing Works is the nation's largest non-profit minority-controlled AIDS service organization. Our mission is to reach the most vulnerable and under served among those affected by the AIDS epidemic in New York City, primarily homeless persons of color whose positive HIV diagnoses are complicated by a history of chronic mental illness and/or chemical dependence, and provide them with a comprehensive range of services designed to help them gain stability, independence, and dignity, and improve their overall health. At the heart of our mission is our commitment to advocating for the systemic changes necessary in public attitudes, policies and laws to ensure that AIDS and public health policies at all levels of government are both sound in concept and equitable in administration. Reviews for Housing Works Thrift Shop

Ratings_icons Decent thrift shop

I guess the best thing I ever got at this store was a stack of home made CDs for twenty five cents each. They all played well and whomever had made them had copied the cover art and everything making them a fun really cheap addition to my collection. I also purchased a table that was fairly priced and that has held up well. They get some really nice furniture pieces so if you are redecorating and need some furniture this could be a good source.

Ratings_icons Great thrift shop - not your typical thrift

Grandmaster C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,625

These guys have some of the best furniture i have ever seen at a thrift store. It usually isnt cheap, but it is almost always a good value. They have stuff that you will not find anywhere else, and at prices that are awesome. Alot of this stuff could sell for 5 times the price, if not more, in some silly soho consigmnent shop

Ratings_icons Excellent cause, High-quality goods

This thrift shop is not your basic thrift shop. Their furniture selection is top of the line and often not all that cheap, but hey, we're talking high-quality. Furthermore, it goes to a great cause: Housing Works Inc, a non-profit serving homeless people with AIDS.
