The Rose and Raindrop has been around in many names for over 100 years. The place screams old Portland tradition, the beautiful wood in the bar, the interior is cozy , the food is very good, great blue cheese dressing for your fresh salad. Good experience.

Pros: Still has some decent beers.

Cons: Too many to list on one line: atmosphere, service, food

The food was hideous enough to justify the immediate exportation of the cook to any remote desert island that will take em. Was that really pre-grated kraft mozzarella on that lukewarm and from the can french onion soup?? It's insane to

The beer list here is great- if they have what you're looking to drink. We were informed they were out of about half of the beers listed, and the first two of my wine picks were also out. We ordered the brie plate, which was good, but

I adore the Rose and Raindrop, they have a fantastic wait staff, free wireless access, a nifty fish tank and fantastic food.
Yet for all this there is a price, and it's not the cost of the beer. I have to agree with previous reviewers,

The Rose and Raindrop is in a great, old buliding, with gorgeous wood interior. But, its expensive and stuffy. I prefer dive bars, so maybe that's why. The hummus plate is decent, but overall, Id rather be across the street at My Fathers Place.

Located in a historic building in the artsy, edgy, up and coming inner Southeast Portland between Hawthorne and Alder, Rose and the Raindrop's warmth is welcoming. "All ways gay friendly," Rose and the Raindrop is a fabulous place to dine. I ate a bleu cheese and bacon burger with steak fries, that was delicious! Huge cushy, leather armchairs at solid wooden tables or high backed padded booths. The lights are down, but not dark. Plush and comfortable, the Rose and the Raindrop Restaurant and Lounge serves delicious pasta, seafood and meat dishes in a cozy, intimate setting.
The wait staff is friendly and responsive, and there is a lounge where you can enjoy drinks and conversation with friends and associates.

The R&R is my favorite pub in all of Portland. It's in a gorgous old Victorian building in what once was downtown East Portland (prior to being annexed by Portland proper). The interior is old wood paneling, with a huge carved bar--in the tradition of the English Public house. It's not hip or trendy or anything like that. It's just an extremely cozy public house. They have a whole wall of taps, so the beer selection is massive. The bartenders and servers are friendly and give the place a very neighborhoody feel. They don't play annoying loud music. You can actually sit at a table and converse. Finally, they serve pretty decent food as well that goes beyond typical pub grub. Try their late night special menu for cheap eats. It gets a bit smokey on the bar side on weekends, but overall, this place is great.

PROS: Huge beer selection, good eats, friendly staff
CONS: A bit too smokey on weekends.

They have a great happy hour! The ambiance is laid back & comfortable (I always grab a booth in the back) - great for eating, drinking and talking. You do not feel rushed to get out of there. I've always had good service as well.
