great for kids with special needs  4 Star Rating - Very good

If you have a preschooler with a disability who qualifies for state services, there is no better place than the EEU. As a university preschool it has tons of classroom support by knowledgable and talented professionals. The preschool also serves as a training ground for graduate students in the special education program at UW. Each classroom has a head teacher, assistant teacher, occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech therapist and at least two classroom aides. I worked there as a classroom aide and autism tutor. The only criticism of the EEU I have is it's not the best place to work. While the employees are friendly, there's lots of pressure to do the exact right thing all the time. You have to fit their ideal and have the "right" personality if you want to be anything other than a classroom aide. As a teacher, I wouldn't want to work there, but as a parent of a child with special needs, I'd definitely want my child to be educated by the EEU.
