In a poor rural area social services and answers are hard to find. The folks in the IV Family Coalition Resource Center, seem to have a lot of answers and helpful people. The IV Family Coalition is 1 of several non-profits in the bldg. If you live in the Cave Junction area of Oregon, this is the place to go to get food stamps, use a computer, get help finding a job, help with housing, drug or alcohol counseling, domestic abuse counseling, find emergency food and clothes for yourself or your kids, get advice and information about where to get other help and even help for vision-impaired people. Most services are NOT funded by the state of Oregon.

PROS: A visit to the Coalition Bldg can change your life if you want to
CONS:

The Illinois Valley Family Coalition, servicing approximately 15,000 Illinois Valley residents, comprises services including welfare/state aid, job assistance, women's health, computer training, and DSL Internet for all. While the services are departmentalized, the ladies at the front desk will always point you in the proper direction for whatever assistance you and/or your family may require. It remains questionable however, as to why women comprise 95% perhaps 100% of its staff, and why they hire sometimes rude and otherwise unfriendly employees. As this coalition is run and financed by the Oregon state government, one could expect major delays and mishaps for requested services; however, the Coalition?s building/staff size to service capability ratio remains unparalleled.
