I was taken here by my parents on a schoolday in the fall so it wasn't very crowded. As I understand it, it gets insane in the summer and on weekends. I'm not sure if I'd want to go then. I remember walking through the giant tube with the

This aquarium is absolutely gorgeous! From the walk-through sea turtle and coral tanks to the ceiling high shark tank (amazing at feeding time) this really gives you and your family a total feel for what the underwater world is truly like. I enjoyed the "louisiana" and "rainforest" rooms as well, and we will return often!

THe price is higher than that to enter most zoos, but well worth it as the experience is unlike any other.

PROS: Totally wonderful experience!

This place is GREAT. Everytime you visit, you see something new or learn something new. Youngsters will love this place. It is like seeing their science textbook come to life. You can walk through glass aquariums. You are underneath/ in between them so the fish are all around you. This is close to the beginning of the aquarium and sets the mood for the outing. I suggest seeing the albino alligators. Children don't realize that not all alligators are green. Also, do not miss the shark exhibit. It is fantastic. It is a little bit pricy to get in, but the educational value is worth it! Visit if you can.

This is a great place for the family! They had a lot of sections. There were many places where the kids could touch animals like starfish and frogs. We caught the feeding of the otters and it was the best thing about the aquarium.

Their gift shop is also to die for . There are some great stuffed animals in there.

This is costly so look into saving money by purchasing combo tickets to the Imax or zoo.

PROS: Fantastic exhibits
CONS: Pricey for larger families

What a huge variety of sea life is on display at this Aquarium! The location is really great -- downtown within walking distance of the hotels and right on the street car line. Huge gift shop and IMAX theatres in the same building.

We love to watch fish. The Aquarium of the Americas allows you to view water creatures up close. When you first go in, there is a tunnel that you go through and you see fish, sharks, etc all around you. They also have a few hands-on exhibits. You can touch a starfish and pet a baby shark. Where else can do you that?
My favorite part is watching the otters play and seeing the jellyfish swim.

PROS: Hands-on exhibits, quiet relaxing activities
CONS: none

The aquarium of the americas is not a place to go when looking for something to do for a full day of family fun. Its very expensive and only takes a max of 2 hours to walk through (thats if you walk very slowly).

The tickets are a bit pricey, but if you look hard enough, you can find some discount tickets. The exhibits are incredibly neat and the entire place is family friendly.
There's one area where you can walk on top of the sharks and look down through the glass to see them.
There's also an area where you walk in a glass tunnel aquarium and can see the sharks, turtles and fish above and beside you.
I absolutely love this aquarium and love to go as often as I can.

The Zoo has improved since the 70s when Cat People with Natasha Kinski did her movie there. The Zoo now takes about 8 hrs to see all of it. Be prepared to do alot of walking. The animals have more freedom and space then ever before. The peacocks are loose to mix with the people. Be sure to hit the petting zoo where you can play with goats, cows, sheep and rabbits... Handicapped accessible.

At reasonable prices you won't want to miss such
a treat. It's something that the family can all do
together. You'll want to dress comfortably...
especially shoes.....because there is lots of
walking.

The aquarium was wonderful! There are many exhibits which are both informative and fun. I would highly recommend it to anyone of any age. It is obvious that the zoo/aquarium are one of the top 5 in the nation.
