Last year I went and saw a great place; this is amazing .This zoo park is the one of the best attraction. I love walking through zoo and seeing all of all the animals. It is a great place to take children and adults, and it is free. They have a great number of exhibits, and provide a very pleasant walking experience.

I love the Lincoln Park Zoo. It is in the heart of the city's north side and it offers everything that a zoo can...not to mention that it is free! It is so open and fun to take kids to.

I have always enjoyed visiting this zoo, I just don't care for the traffic in getting there. Although this has been a wonderful zoo to visit and doesn't require as much walking as Brookfield, I have been concerned about all the deaths of many animals there. The membership packages they offer don't offer too many deals, but I will still return to the zoo.

If you can find parking on the nearby streets, you've got a day of free entertainment ahead of you. Otherwise, the cost of parking is too bad. This zoo is right off Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago and it is amazing. The kids love coming here to see the monkeys and gorillas. They also have plenty of other animal exhibits to keep you busy for the day. Plus, kids can ride their giant carousel and visit the petting farm.

Going to the zoo for the day will be a great experience for you and your family. First off, you can't beat that it's free admission! You do pay to park though. And the animal exhibits are great. I've always enjoyed checking out the seals! My favorite! I also like where the zoo is located; right by the lake and in the middle of the city hustle and bustle. It's a great get-away.

You get what you pay for, and Lincoln Park Zoo, which is free to enter, is a prime example of this. It is decent, but just decent, as far as zoos go. The animals don't seem particularly abused, but neither do they seem particularly settled within their enclosures -- or even happy. It is large, usually crowded and not really worth the trouble. Parking is always a problem, and the place seems dirty and in need of repair (graffitti, litter, etc). Not worth the trip!

PROS: Free
CONS: No parking, crowded, dirty

A great place to spend a nice day - open, very walkable, right on the lake. Somehow it's still free, even though the other major Chicago museums keep getting more expensive. The gorilla house is always interesting to go to, and the open-air exhibits are great, even though the animals aren't always out. When they are, though, you can get a really up close view. The zoo also does a good job of providing information on the exhibits and animals. Very relaxed place, it's very well maintained and beautiful to just walk through. Take public transportation if possible.

PROS: beautiful zoo and free

Lincoln Park Zoo is the only zoo I have ever been to that is free. I didn't even know a zoo like that existed! It is really awesome. I have never been able to get so close to the glass before where you view the animals. Most of the time when you are at the zoo, they have the glass burrier then a fence or something some distance after it... Not here. If a tiger is right up next to the glass, all that separates you from the tiger is that glass - and the glass is very clear. That is definitely my favorite part of this zoo! Lincoln Park is also my favorite Chicago neighborhood.

PROS: Close view of the animals, good location

If you are looking for fun, cheap things to do in Chicago you can't go wrong with the Lincoln Park Zoo. First of all, admission is free which is a big plus. The Zoo is a nice size without being too big. You can see plenty of animals that you would see in a paying zoo without having to walk a lot to see them. The only con of this zoo is food prices. For a family of 4 we spent over $35 on lunch so I would recommend bringing in your own food or eating before you go in.

Is an ok way to spend a day. The zoo looks old and uncared for to me. Dirty and graffited in some places. The underground areas like near the polar bears smell funky. The animals just do not seem happy to me. Honestly I think the whole zoo needs an overhaul and remodeling.

PROS: Close to home, Free
CONS: Looks Old and Uncared For.

There are not many zoos that are free in North America, which gives Lincoln Park Zoo a great rating! It is the perfect outdoor area if you want to enjoy fresh air or jog along the lake. Due to funding, you will notice a bit of decline in upkeep and many empty areas, but the park is nicely laid out to have an animal hide and seek with kids or just a day of discovery. There is a cute petting zoo at the south end of the zoo as well that is often overlooked. It is amazing that they can keep these animals outside in the changing climate of the Midwest. The sealion shows are entertaining but the bears look sort of sad as they have had much surgery and the lions have such small spaces. There are great views of the city from the park.

PROS: Unique location and great for kids
CONS: Sad looking bears

Lincoln Park Zoo is the perfect place to take out of town guests when they visit during the summer time. It's free, it's located in one of the liveliest neighborhoods in Chicago, and it's steps away from Lake Michigan! Lincoln Park Zoo has also recently added a farm section, which is real fun for children.

Just another amazing thing to do in Chicago... and it's FREE! The Lincoln Park Zoo sprawls across the lakefront in a gorgeous location. Take the El, get off at Fullerton, and walk a few blocks through Lincoln Park to get here. The monkeys here are so entertaining. Everytime I watch them I laugh so hard I cry. Since it's free, it's great to even just stroll through, you don't feel obligated to stay all day and get your money's worth. Nearby, you can paddle boat or walk through beautiful gardens. The zoo is open year-round, and it's fun in all seasons. Just be sure to get there early, because everything closes up at 5pm.

This is a small zoo. It is in the downtown area. It is hard to get too, not enough parking, and of course the parking is sooo expensive. They have the basic animals every zoo has, but not much else. I would much rather go to the bigger and better brookfield zoo that is only 20 minutes from there.

It's hard to image that this zoo is in the middle of such a bust city...and it's free! Once you walk into the zoo, you feel like you are in a tranquil place. They take such good care of the animals and it is so clean in there. The staff is friendly and it is a great place for a family day out.

PROS: Free and big
CONS: Parking can be tough.

This zoo is so much fun to spend a few minutes at, or hours! The farm is so much fun for children and adults. You can watch the cows being milked, the children can actually feed the cows, and there is a barn with interactive material for all! The rest of the zoo is really nice, and they recently got a new ape house and children's zoo.

Its free, thats a huge plus right there. It isnt half bad for a free zoo too, lots of interesting animals. I especially like the big cat that is outside, a leopard? I forget. Like another reviewer said, there is alot of pretty landscaping around if you are into that. Parking can be pretty rough though. Not even close in size to Brookfield Zoo, but its free and its in the city.

This is a good city zoo. It's not a really big zoo and there aren't many different animals. The fact that it's free is the huge plus. That price though allows for some interesting people in there. Don't let your children wander too far.

CONS: Small, not alot of animals

The Lincoln Park Zoo in dowtown Chicago is worth visiting to escape the hustle and bustle of a downtime environment. The new gorilla exhibit is an outstanding attraction and the kids will be entertain for hours. Because the zoo is located on the shores of Lake Michigan it does get pretty windy. Take the family and have a great time.

Lincoln Park Zoo is a very famous zoo, and rightfully so. It is a great place to spend a weekday afternoon with friends or family. It has a great atmosphere and a great culture and a great variety of animals to look at. A lot of exotic animals can be very entertaining. Overall, I Give the lincoln Park Zoo five stars out of five because it is a such a great place. Best place around, in my humble opinion.

this free zoo continues to be world class. Even with the recent deaths of some of the animals, this zoo continues to be a front runner in exhibits. Other zoos have patterned their exhibits on some of the ones they have here. The bird house is outstanding, and a pleasant afternoon can be spent in it alone. The great ape house is one of the first, and is always amusing.

My whole life, I have loved this special zoo. Not only are they the only free zoo in the country, but they seem to attract the most wonderful people (both the staff and the patrons). They have so many cool exhibits (I especially love the bird sanctuary and the gorilla house). They also have a little train and a lovely carousel. I still feel like a little kid when I'm at Lincoln Park Zoo. It's a special place for the whole family. They have street parking and a paid lot.

This zoo is pretty small and not very exciting. Also, there have been a few LP zoo animal deaths in the news recently, which is kinda sad. The best thing about the zoo is that it's free. But I really can't recommend coming here. If you want to go to a real zoo, head out to Brookfield.

This Chicago zoo has all the usually things like elephants and lions. But the best thing about our zoo is that its FREE! If you are looking for a low cost family outing, this is the place for you. The worst thing is that you will never ever find parking on the street, unless you are the luckiest person in the world. They do have a parking lot that cost $10 dollars, but by 3:00p.m. It is usually full and not taking any more cars. So get there early because they close at 5:00p.m.

Located in Lincoln Park in Chicago, you can enter it from many angles, mainly because it's free. You can be enjoying your picnic in the park or be playing frisbee one minute, and walk right into the zoo to visit the animals the next! The zoo itself may not be that extensive, but it's a great zoo for the price!

Lincoln Park Zoo isn't the most amazing zoo in the world, but it wasn't designed to be. If you go expecting an immense zoo, you'll be disappointed. Think of it more as one of several options that enhance the lakefront expanse of Lincoln Park.

As a free (which it is) perk, it adds another dimension to Chicago's waterfront.

PROS: nice place for a walk
CONS: limited selection of animals

I still can't believe this zoo offers free admission. The location is perfect and the grounds are well kept. There is a food court that has lots to offer or you can grab a picnic table and bring in your own spread. The gift shop is well stocked and has some great deals -good for stocking up on gifts for children. Parking is only $12 for the day. Looking forwrad to the childrens section which will open in July 2005.
