Reviews for Costco

Ratings_icons Members think employees owe them

Barb H.

Costco has one of, if not THE BEST, return policy ever, yet members still constantly complain. 1st they complain about having to pay $50 for the membership, then complain that some electronics now have a 90 return policy (although a two year service plan), then come in on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and expect it NOT to be busy! First of all, to all those who returned a product simply cuz you wanted an updated version or returned the big screen TV after 10 years-- YOU'RE the reason why the membership has gone up, YOU'RE the reason for the revised return policy! You took advantage and now the rest of us who actually have good morals have to pay for it. And who goes to Costco EVER expecting it NOT TO BE BUSY, no matter what day it is, let alone a weekend??? Seriously, what is wrong with you. Above all, Costco is still a business, which also has to cut down on payroll when sales are not high or when all those "advatage takers" bring back items they shouldn't! In order to cut payroll, you have to cut employees. Cashiers are held to process over 45 members an hour... and with the huge orders! Do you see Wal-mart or any other store processing customers that fast??? NOT EVEN CLOSE... yet the members still complain. I agree with the guy bothered by employees talking Spanish... that is annoying, but it's just as annoying as when members do it, or are talking on their cell phone! Anyways, I'm not saying that at times members don't have a right to complain, cuz they do sometimes... but be reasonable about the complaint. A lot of times, they are just mean cuz they feel employees owe them, which we don't. Just think of the other side as well... cuz Costco members really do have it good.

I was really disappointed and a bit irritated that while I checked out , the clerk and checker were babbling in Spanish . I don't appreciate that at all . This is America and the language of America is English . If they want to speak Spanish they should return to Mexico . The next time this happens I'm Not going to keep quiet.

Ratings_icons Customer Service is Great!

Linda S.

I just contacted Costco to try to find out about a purchase I made way back in 2005. I had lost the receipt and needed some warranty work done - without the receipt I was dead. I also was calling from out of state to get the information. The customer service representative was fantastic, helped me out, and even called to confirm that he had taken care of everything. Could not have been a more pleasant experience.

Ratings_icons Costcol products and return policy

Costco, Henderson is an outstanding store for quality products at a very reasonable level. Costco, Henderson has the best return policy of any department store in the area, and don't require a receipt due to their technology. Even for soft items like spoiled fruit [I have returned one piece of bad fruit and been refunded the cost of the entire clamshell of fruit. I have witnessed outstanding customer service in their handling of returns.

PROS: Good quality at a good price
CONS: They don't carry enough product lines, i.e., low cal or low fat

Ratings_icons Worth the membership

It may cost $35 to become a member but is well worth it. They have an exceptional meat section, they have clothing that is name brand and extremely cheaper than mall prices. Cigarettes are much cheaper as is there bottled water. They also have a gas station on site for members that save money per gallon on gas. Expect long lines and difficult finding parking up front, but well worth it.

Ratings_icons Nothing wrong with getting a good deal!

Bonnie R. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,228

First you have to pay a fee to join -- $35 year. The good news is that you will make your money back ten times over before the end of that year. It is usually the cheapest place to get gas and usually there is not a long line to get it. If there is, it is worth the wait. They send flyers to your home as well as emails to notify you of the sales and there are deep discounts on most items. If you have a large family you will really save a lot of money because most of the food items are in bulk -- for example, you can buy 3 or 4 catsups at once, and can't just buy one. Or you can buy 3 chickens, but not just one. But it is worth it, particularly for staples you know you will always use -- garbage bags, cereal, detergent, etc. If you go in on an empty stomach there are enough food samples to fill you up. They sell everything from vacations to cars to furniture to eyeglasses, dvds and clothes. They also have a pharmacy.

PROS: Great deals. Wonderful prices in restaurant.
CONS: Deals often not repeated. Get it while you can. Bulk may be too much.

This is a nice Costco and everything is always well stocked. The photo department is always helpful and they're usually running on time with the one hour photo.

Ratings_icons Costco (Optomotry Department)

Betty H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,595

I thought I'd try Costco to fill my prescription for new glasses and was I ever surprised to find out how inexpensive their frames were. The quality was wonderful and the service was just as good, if not better, than I'd received at private Optomotrists offices in the past. I was able to buy two pair at Costco for the same cost as one pair at my doctor's office. I'll be shopping here from now on.
