If you're looking for those classic Manga/Anime books that your mom accidentally threw away (which is what happened to me), come check this place out. They have every book you can think of. Some of the books aren't wrapped so you can flip through them and check them out before you buy them.

Book-Off is conveniently located in Costa Mesa near one of Orange County's few Japanese supermarkets, Marukai. Book off has a wide selection of Japanese media (books, cds, videos, etc.), both new and used for competative prices. I neither speak nor read Japanese, but I still enjoy looking through their book racks to see whats new. Also, for the Japanese street fashion enthusists, there is often a good selection of used Japanese Fashion magazines for super cheap, although many are typically out of date.

Japanese anime, books, and memorabilia isn't cheap, and you'll pay a pretty penny at some of the more well established outlets like Kinokuniya. Unless you hit the conventions or eBay, you won't be getting much of a bargain. That is, unless you're in Costa Mesa and stop at Book Off in the Marukai shopping center. Book Off's got a large selection of new and used j-pop, CDs, DVDs, literature, and lots of anime. One row is now dedicated to English language books, and while their selection is a bit eclectic, it's quite a bit cheaper than its competitor across the street. Book Off is open at 8:00 seven days a week, and if you're a big fan of all things Japanese, you'll want at least an hour to browse the collection.

This is my favorite Japanese book store. Lots of japanese-language manga for $1.00 per book. Good selection of used English books for cheap, costing no more than $10.00 most of the time for the nicer books. And of course, there are the imported music and movies! This branch has more discounts than the Gardena branch.

PROS: Affordable selection of new japanese language books
CONS:
