Market Street is THE place for groceries

by Tim H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,181

This was the first Market Street store in the area, and is very large with a devoted customer base- it stays busy. When I first shopped here, I couldn't wait for them to open a store closer to me- which thankfully they did the next year. I think the produce dept. is better than most other groceries, in price and quality. The meat dept. is really good too, with high quality and great prices on sale items. They will carry your groceries to your car, every time, without even asking. Being a smaller Texas-owned chain, they work hard to be better than larger grocery chains.

Wonderful shopping experience

by d g. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,350

Employees are very helpful. HAVE A TERRIFIC DELI. Their homemade foods look and taste delicious. Even the packaged deli items are sooo good and they DO offer to carry your groceries out to your car, how is that for nostalgic service!!

Fresh, Fun and Relaxing

by Anonymous

I will drive 15 minutes to go to Market St. The produce is crisp and stays fresh much longer than the local "discount" store. The fish is the best I've seen - can't afford fish from the local health food store. There's very helpful workers in all depts. very eager and willing to help you find something. I love the natural section - good size, good choices. They have a wonderful wine selection. I love the food court. The choices are great and they have a private eating area on the second floor that is lovely and filled with items to buy. The bakery is delicious!!!! I can't wait until a Market St. opens near me in the next year. Until then, I will drive!

Plus plus plus

by Liz O.

This is a great grocery store. It reminds me a bit of the Wegman's grocery stores in the northeast. Very close to it but on a smaller scale. The pasta bar is great... order what you want and take a gourmet dinner home for cheap. Good variety of gourmet foods including meat, deli, cheeses, and breads. I particularly like their meats which are either marinated or coated and ready to throw in the oven... but way better than what I cook. Their employees are great too... knowledgeable and very friendly and patient. The only thing missing is a great bagel shop in the midst of it... once more east coast people come here... hopefully so will the bagels.

Absolutely World Class Grocery Store and MUCH more

by Natalia E.

I absolutely love going grocery shopping at Market Street - or even for a bite to eat. The store is bright, clean, with great staff, and a great variety of items. They carry a good variety of organic foods, too. I find that Albertsons, Kroger, and even Tom Thumb don't have some of the organic items that Market Street has. They also have the BEST place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Their grill and sandwich counter is wonderful. Very quick service and delicious food at great prices. For under $5 you get a sandwich, side, and a drink with free refills! They also have a salad bar and a caesar salad counter. At the Caesar salad counter you can order caesar salads made to your own specifications. There is also a store on the second floor called "The Dish." The Dish sells small electric appliances such as mixers and toasters and a beautiful variety of decorative and dining dishes and utencils. "The Dish" also has a kitchen that is used for cooking classes and demonstrations. There is also great area upstairs to eat the delicious lunch at. For sushi lovers, Market Street offers a great sushi counter. Back downstairs there is also a coffee shop-type counter where you can order anything from a cappuccino to a smoothie - again, very good. And, the other great plus that this former New Englander found extremely wonderful is that they have staff who take your grocery cart to your car, help you empty it, and then take it back to the store. This is a wonderful service that busy moms like me absolutely appreciate. It is a truly wonderful gesture. Overall, I am a customer for life!

PROS: bright, clean, great products, delicious food, excellent service
CONS: some products may be more expensive than regular grocery stores

Great food, great prices, nice people!

by Jen S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,599

I love the Market Street by our house. It's a great combination of Central Market and a regular grocer like Tom Thumb. You can find all kind sof neat gourmet and specialty items, but you can ALSO find essentials that you can't find at most specialty grocers (such as paper towels, detergent and Tylenol). They have a great deli and an awesome cafe that serves everything from comfort food (YUMMY bbq) to neopolitan pizzas. The best part is that they have prices that often meet or beat the competition, so generally you aren't paying a premium for a premium item.
