From the first person I came in contact with to do my vital signs we were hurdled into a space directly behind the front desk & the front desk staff was just about sitting right there with me,the next stop was in with the Physician Assistant whom was professional, compassionate & non-judgemental(I wish I could recall his name)He offered possible ways of handling the pain I was experiencing. He displayed knowledge of how to manage pain.Next I sat in an area where above the seats was posted "sceening1,2,etc...)There every person that came into that area I got to hear what happened to them, their medical history, one man was asked if he had any recent surgeries & although he had lowered his voice I could still hear from where I sat,he had a vasectomy. So much for privacy..what happened to the HIPPA regulations???A very kind nurse escorted me into a treatment room in the back.I saw a nurse on my way to the restroom who said she would come right back to speak with me.The right back did not occur. A Dr. J Mensching came in,asked the usual questions I came because I had been experiencing severe neck & arm pain for 2 weeks. He offered narcotic pain medications & told me I needed to have an epidural injection & that he could not provide that for me or help me.I felt totally disregarded. He showed no compassion or willingness to explore other options to help me that day.He ordered an injection, the nurse had the supplies at the desk with the charts, computer where she opened& left the package with the syringe to walk away to do other things. Now the MD has ordered this injection 1/2 hour ago the nurses ate a sanwich(prior to opening the syringe)chatted with a peer, had them all look at her email, then was chatting on the phone. She did not wash her hands prior to starting the IV,put gloves on then walked out looking for something touching other objects & returning to do the job.I do have to say she was compassionate.I thought it strange not one person took my vital signs back there until I was discharged, not one person came in to see if I was comfortable or needed anything. There was no blanket or pillow & after being there for some time I was not offered a drink.I realize hospitals are short staffed, but that does not make it acceptable.Privacy is a real concern,I do not see how the HIPPA regulations are being practiced.I did have a very positive encounter with the woman from the financial dept.who was very helpful. My rating would be One Star-Unsatisfactory.
