Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best!
by Karl C.
I have grown up going to the Fort Worth Zoo! I travel a lot and have taken my family to several zoos around the country. The Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best I have ever seen and it is always clean. I would definitely recommend this zoo to anyone. The price may seem a bit steep until you're actually in the zoo. It is worth every penny!

not such a good zoo because there is always animal poop on the ground or the zoo smells like monkeys in a garbage can. it's only good to see animals and pet them....

This was a fabulous zoo! We have gone twice this summer and still haven't seen the entire park (the second time we were rained out). I love the exhibits. The tiger exhibit is amazing!!! The waterfalls throughout the park are beautiful. I took an awesome photo of the tiger sitting on the edge of a waterfall. It's breathtaking! It's so easy to see the animals. The exhibits are set up in a way where they can't hide to far. We also enjoyed feeding the birds.
PROS: Exhibits are set up beautifully
CONS: Pricey..but worth it, no rainchecks :(, pay for parking

Fort Worth Zoo has always been rated one of the top zoos. They have a lot of breeding programs and try to help the animals - not just put them on display. It is a large zoo that is grouped into areas that they are found in the wild. The zoo flows very well and you can make it from the start to the end in a couple hours. The prices are very very good considering how good the zoo is. There is a lot of parking and the zoo is in the trees so there is a lot of shade in the summer. Check out Boo at the Zoo and the programs they have for kids in the summer.

Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best in the world and you never leave there feeling disappointed. They have the animals grouped into the areas that they would be in the wild. They have savanahs, plains, woods, etc. They have gone to the farthest lengths to make the animals feel like they are in the wild. The gorilla house is amazing and you get really close to them but there is a huge moat between you and them. They have glass areas were you are a foot away from them -amazing. The price is around $8 dollars a person. You can find discount tickets around -- it is so worth a day trip!

All I can say about the Fort Worth Zoo is that it is the best. They have gone to long lengths to make the habitats look as close to the real thing and make sure the animals feel at home. They have bred a lot of animals and even have baby elephants that were born at the zoo. They have a Texas area that is really unique to the zoo. The admission price is very low for such a good zoo. Food is normal amuement park/zoo fair and is priced a little high. They have a great gift shop at the front of the zoo.

This is probably one of the best zoos I have ever been too. This is definitely a great place to bring the family. I went with a friends 1 year old daughter and she loved it! She had a smile on her face all day!! The admission is reasonable priced for all that you get to see! We spent a good 3 hours or so walking around. If you have lunch at the zoo bring extra money because that isnt as cheap as the admission.
Highly recommend!!! Have Fun!!!

The Fort Worth Zoo is a great family excursion or place to take the kids on a regular basis. If you choose to frequent the zoo take advantage and get a zoo membership. This way you do not have to pay for parking, entrance fess and get the train ride for half price. We do this because with small kids the zoo is too large to do in one outing.
The zoo has amazing animal attractions. The primate house is one or our favorites. The meer cats are also a favorite as the kids can get up close and see the tunnels and animals.
The zoo has recently added Texas wild. I thought this area was good but geared more told older kids (5+).
The zoo allows you to bring in drinks and food as long as they are plastic bottles like gatorade. I suggest this because the food is very over priced.
PROS: animal exhibity
CONS: food prices

A world class zoo. VERY EXPENSIVE, but also very nice. I would recommend purchasing a membership if you want to go more than once. A wonderful place to relax and get away from it all. Scenic walkways, even has a train! Kids will have a blast and parents can relax and stroll and enjoy the tree lined paths.

If you can stand the heat, go! Very affordable and most kids get in free. Its so fun to tkae kids they have all kinds of new things. They have every animal you can think of. One thing is to bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks, cause the zoo is kinda expensive on refreshments

This zoo offers a glimpse into natural habitats by adapting each area to match the animals natural needs. Every time we visit we observe something new. They have also started animal enrichment programs that are insightful because you are able to see how the animals play, hunt, etc.

The Fort Worth Zoo is a world class zoo. We purchased yearly passes so that we can take our young son various times throughout the year. The pass also gives you free parking which is a plus! All of the exhibits are wonderful! Our son loves looking at all the different animals. The aquarium is also very nice and we spend quite a bit of time in there. There is a lot to see at the zoo so be prepared to do some walking as well! Your family will definitely love the zoo!!! Don't miss the Halloween event that they have also!

Fort Worth Zoo is one of the best zoos in the nation. I have been to many zoos all over the world and the Fort Worth Zoo is still one of the best in my eyes. They have a great lay out to the zoo and makes it very easy to flow from one animal zone to another. They have a very large elephant habitat and have had a couple of babies born at the zoo in the past year or two so you get to see baby elephants.
They have a Texas area to the zoo that has all native animals to Texas on display and the stores and area is decorated in a Texas theme. This is one of my favorite areas of the zoo.
They have a large building for reptiles and fish that is very cool to walk thru on those hot days. There is a lot of shade provided by the many trees so even on the hot days, it is a nice place to be.
The gorilla habitat is inside and looks like a rain forest jungle. You can get very close to the gorillas with no danger because there is a huge drop off they can't cross.
Fort Worth Zoo is a wonderful place to spend the day and take the kids. They have a lot of education programs as well as programs for the holidays, such as Boo at the Zoo.
Prices are good for a day of family fun and there is a ton of parking in their lots.
PROS: Great animal habitats
CONS: Food is a little pricey

Amazing Zoo for the Whole Family to Enjoy

I love the Fort Worth Zoo!! 5 years ago I got a Family Membership for the first time and have since renewed it every year.
I can not say enough about the Texas Wild Section. It was really well thought out and literally takes you on a Journey through the different regions of Texas. There are a couple of different shows to be seen, one of which demonstrates the impact of Storms (aka Texas Twisters) on our Furry Friends. There is also a huge emphasis placed on Conservation and How important it is to stop destroying our Native Animals Habitats. There are thousands of facts to be learnt about the state that you usually don't learn in school. It is very important for our children to see these animals in particular and to see how drastically their numbers have been reduced throughout the state.
Besides the Texas Wild Section, the Zoo has many other great sections focusing on Animals from around the world. Ever since they were born, I can't seem to get enough of the White Tiger Cubs!
Bring a Cooler with your lunch and plan to have a Picnic in one of the Shady areas with Picnic Tables set up.
A really neat time to visit is November. With cooler weather, the park is less crowded, while the animals are More Active!!
PROS: Highly Educational and Well Thought LayOut for a Zoo
CONS: Weekend are Very Crowed.

The Fort Worth Zoo is so much fun that I try to go often and I always take out of town guests. Wed. is half price day and you can put a cooler in your car for a picnic once you have cruised through the zoo. The Texas Wild section is really fun and the kids tend to like the monkey's the best. I never get food on-site, but I know that they have a wide selection of choices and price ranges. They also have a lot of activities for the kids and the staff is friendly. There is plenty of parking for $5.00.
PROS: Price, hours.

Do you have kids? Do your kids like animals? I know mine do! The Fort Worth Zoo is a great and fun outdoor experience for the whole family. They have some of the most unusual and unique animals there are. Ranging from antelope to zebras and lizards to penquins, they have just about everything. And for the kids who like to interact, there is a petting zoo that is no extra charge. Tickets into the zoo are $10 adults and $5 kids, but you can stay are long as you like! There are also picnic tables and playground areas to enjoy your lunch. Or if you prefer to not eat at the Zoo, it is in a great location with tons of resturaunts and fast food places around.

Om my gosh. This is literally my favoriet Zoo ever. It's big with lots and lots to do... but at the same time it's not overwhelming. The Texas section in the back has an amazine Bat Cave. And the little Aquarium area is so nice and clean. The staff is very nice and well informed. We have had birthday parties out here. Worth every penney. Get the Family Mmebership. You get a special members party to go to and discounts on special events like Boo at the Zoo. Boo and the Zoo is wonderful and such a safe way to do Halloween. If you love animals be sure to stop in here. Go early in the day for the lowest amount of people.

I love going to this zoo. It is so nice and it is so big. The kids love it they have such an array of different animals that are on exibhit here. I think that the best part though was though ocean area where they had the touch tank and you could actually mess with a lot of the different see creatures. They had urchants and they had sea rays. It was just so nice. Also they have many babies at the zoo and they have a petting zoo it was just so nice.

This is the best Zoo in town. The kids always enjoy going. They offer plenty of extras through out the year also such as over night stays, summer camps, learning camps, Boo @ the Zoo, and more. Don't just take a trip to the zoo add a tour or sign your kids up for a summer camp. They offer so much that most people don't even know about. Research the web site and it tells you the current events. I do think that the season passes are a little expensive, so go on a 1/2 price day.

There's a song in England called "we're going to the zoo" and there's a line that says "you can stay all day" .. well we'd stay for a week and maybe then get around everything .. this zoo is the best attraction for families in the entire metroplex and somewhere we'll be going often.
There are tons of animals in great enclosures you don't have any trouble seeing and the new Great Barrier Reef exhibit is fun especially for the kids trying to spot Nemo in one of the tanks.
Best of all though .. Parrot Paradise,it's worth the trip just for this, you get to feed the parakeets who all fly around your head and land on the feed sticks in your hand.
This is somewhere you're going to have no problem staying allday.

The Fort Worth Zoo is an awesome place to go with your family - young AND old! Admission is pretty cheap and well worth it! This is such a nice zoo with so many amazing animals!
But, despite the cheap admission, make sure to bring plenty of dough to cover food and drink at the zoo - because those can get pretty pricey. And don't forget the souveniers!

Consider buying a 1-year membership for a whole summer of fun

We have gone to the Ft Worth Zoo so many times that we thought maybe we should get a membership for the Summer. Well, we did that and boy what a good deal that is. The first adult is $50, the second is $35 a third is $50. Children under 3 are free. 3 and up start at $20 (for the first child) and I believe $17.50 for the second. The price includes parking for members and you can bring a guest for $3 off or get a guest membership, with which you can bring a different guest every time, for $75.00. These rates are as of Spring 2005. There is a petting zoo with goats, an armadillo, pot bellied pigs and chickens...a possom was there today. There is a climbing wall in the Australian Outback and the newest attraction is the Barrier Reef, where kids can look for their favorites from the movie "Finding Nemo," and learn that "Dory" is a fish called a "Tang" and not a "Dory." There are Kangaroos, Koalas, large cats, large canines, reptiles, insects, bats, primates, and...unlike the Dallas Zoo...BEARS! We never finish the whole zoo in one day anyhow, and with a membership, you do not feel the need to push the kids for another 30 minutes worth of zoo time because you've wasted no money by leaving if someone is tire or has a meltdown. There are picnic tables and eateries, misting stations, a train (get the all-day pass or you have to get off and cannot get back on without a return ticket) and there are lots of trees shading walkways. There are shows to see (read: air conditioned) and new exhibits often. The best money I've spent this year.
