I bought tires at Expert Tire in Santa Fe, NM. one year ago. They falsified my mileage on the contract. I didn't notice till a few days later and that it would self correct. What ever that means! They did all the service on my car. They backed-up the mileage to 150,555 , no way did I put 60,000 miles in four months on my car. They said my warranty was void because the tire were guaranteed for 65,000 and I had all ready driven 71,000 miles.

These guys are always fair and willing to whatever it takes to make you happy. That said, cars have problems and these guys are experts in finding them. If they find something, it's your choice to fix it or not. Ask questions and if your not sure pass on it. I'm just happy they find them before I am stuck on stuck on the road.

I have three cars with 147K, 119K, and 109K miles. I have been using Express Tire (Poway & R.B.) for everything but transmission work for more than 8 years.

I am not a happy customer with Express Tire's customer service and satisfaction. I've always known it, but one day I broke down and went to Express Tire for a set of four Cooper Tires. After 25,000 (of a 80,000 mile warrantee), the tires developed a radial pull, and said they would only prorate the one that was pulling--if they can even find the one that is pulling. So, essentially I will have one new tire and three with 25,000 miles on them, just waiting for the others to develop the same radial pull. Another shop would prorate the entire set of tires, where I would pay for the used portion, and apply the unused portionn towards a new set of another brand of tires. I blame Express Tire for selling me a poor brand of Cooper tires, and for not taking care of a customer. Next time I'll go to a retailer that will take care of the customer.

Hello everyone,

So this is my first time ever writing a review and never really feel the need to do this until now. I have been a customer at Express Tires in Rancho Bernardo for 4 years now. I always felt that I could trust the employees and management to be fair and honest with me and never try to rip me off. This was when Big John use to work there, now he is up in Temecula (boy are we missing out now). To make a long story short I took my car in for a routine oil change and I met a new guy there named Oscar who did all my paper work. I wanted to pay upfront like I have always done and he wouldn't let me. He just said we will give you a call when it's done and you can pay then. They offered me a free inspection and right there I knew that they were going to try and say something was wrong with my car.

I own a 2006 Nissan Altima that has only 40,000 miles on it. Oscar called about an hour after I dropped my car off and said that I needed a new serpentine belt and my coolant needed to be changed cause it was really dirty. Very surprised I asked how much and he quoted me $169 for the belt and $50 for the coolant. I told him I would call him back. So I called my mechanic and he was very surprised that I needed a belt change so soon. He told me to bring it in on Monday and he will take a look at it. My mechanic quoted me $90 to change the belt, if I needed it.

I called Oscar back at Express Tires and told him what my mechanic quoted and all the SUDDEN he could do the job for $100...WOW isn't that amazing!

So to my point...I went to my mechanic this morning and he said my belt is in EXCELLENT shape and that it should last me another 40,000 miles and that my coolant was clean and just fine. So...NEVER to go Express Tires in Rancho Bernardo and stay away from Oscar. He's very charming at first but is only trying to rip you off. Express Tires isn't what it used to be!

Words of advice...always get a second opinion it never hurts and always seems to benefit you! I love my mechanic and am so glad that I have someone honest I can turn to when it comes to my car.

If interested in going to someone you trust it's called Nu's Auto Repair...he will always be honest and you will always keep going back!

Thanks for reading and for letting me vent! We need to protect one another from people like Oscar and Express Tires. I'm definitely taking this to management and the BBB!

WARNING THESE PEOPLE GIVE CROOKS A BAD NAME. RUN DON??T WALK FROM THIS PLACE.

OK, here is my store about these crooks. I bought four new tires from them not ever 12 months ago. I told them I wanted tires with at least an 80,000 warranty because I was going to keep my car for several more years. I told them do a four wheel alignment. OK so I paid a lot of more for what I thought were four good tires. OK, it is not ever one year later the two back tires are nearly bald. I take the car into the same ExpressTire that I bought the tires from last year. I asked the same guy who sold me these tires last year to replace them for free. You know the tires were supposed to have that 80,000 mile warranty on them. The warrant was supposed to include free tire rotation and all that other stuff. So this person looks at the front of the car and says you need a new tire rod and that is why the two tires in the back are no good. I can fix the tire rod in the front for a couple of hundred dollars and I might even be able to give you a few bucks off the cost of replacing the tires on the back.

First, he says reason why the tires on the back were no good was because the tires were rotated from the front wheel that has the bad tire rod. I then tell him that no one has changed or rotated the tires since I was in his shop less than a year ago. OK, then the problem must have been caused by the number of miles I drove since last year. Wrong again champ. I drove the car less then 10,000 last year. Well the tires he sold me last year could not be bad because has never ever sold a bad en his entire life. He only sells perfect tires. Then I ask him did you guys do a four wheel alignment last year when I brought the car and asked for one. Oh, no we could not do a four wheel alignment on your car since you have fixed rear axle car. What you don??t a fix wheel axel car. Wow that might be why the tires wore out so fast. Let me just check that now for you. Oh, looks your car is out of aliment in the back. Don??t worry you can buy two brand new tires for the rear and we will charge you for the aliment that we said we did last year but did not do. You know it is your fault that you did not check to make sure we did the four wheel aliment on your car last year. We might be able to give a few bucks off the price the two new rear tires. No, I am so sorry but the tire warranty does cover you car if it is out of aliment. Cha ching$$$

OK, you get the point about these guys. They will not stand behind their tire warranty. They don??t know if you car needs a four wheel aliment or not? Kind of scary that a tire store does know what kind of cars need a four wheel alignment or not. They do not do the work they say do. Oh, one more thing. The same guy who sold me the tires last year. Looked me in the eye this year and said OH, I did not work here last year so I do not know why then did not do the tire aliment for you last year. Yea, they are liars.

You know I just wish I could find one company that would just do the work they say they do at the price that told me it was going to cost.

I am going to take my car to another ExpressTire. I hope to have a better report about that store.

I recently went to express tire for an oil change. The day after I checked the oil and was shocked by how dark the oil appeared to be on the dipstick. I compared the color of the oil on the stick with some new oil by wiping each on a white paper towel. The oil that the people at express tire put in my car was much darker in color than the new oil that i compared it to. There is no way that any new oil would be that dark. They either out used oil in my car or flat out didn't change it. Go somewhere else to change your oil.

The title says it all. This shop is your typical grind. I've had two bad experiences. First bad experience I purchased new alloy custom wheels from Express Tire. They used an impact wrench to install them. The inside wells for the lug nuts were scored on most of the wheels. They installed mismatched lug nuts (due to damage during installation I'm guessing). They replaced the lug nut, but didn't seem to care about the poor work otherwise. I talked to the manufacturer of the wheel (American Racing) and they didn't care that their product was being mishandled by one of their recomended dealers. Second bad experience my wife had a servicing done after the fire and they were suppose to replace the airfilter. They removed the airfilter and didn't put one back. She drove 5000 miles on a car with no intake airfilter. They refunded us the cost of the airfilter when confronted.

I went there for an oil change, I was asked if I would like a "FREE INSPECTION" I said ok and signed at the bottom. I was called a few hours later, and told what bad shape my car was in, I needed a belt, rear brakes and new brake fluid, a 30k service which included an air filter, fuel filter, transmission fluid exchange, fuel system service/cleaning, 4 wheel alignment. I was shocked... My car was less than a year old, I was also told I could put all the service on my goodyear credit card that I was approved for??? I sign up because I was told it was a goodyear membership to get the oil change at the 14.88 price, I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS A CREDIT CARD. after I said no, I was put on hold and spoke with some guy named Robert who supposedly was the manager or district manager, he said he was authorized to give me a discount if I did the work today... I refused and told him I did not want a credit card, he told me I had to contact goodyear credit services to cancel the credit card.
I contacted the customer service line and they offered me a "free oil change"... Nothing at EXPRESS TIRE IS FREE... my car had 25k miles on it when I took it in. I read my owners manual and it said I did not need to change the transmission fluid until 100k miles.

Reading these reviews I diagree. I have been a customer there for years. If I ever have a problem I just contact the manager John and he resolves it right there. You know they have a customer service line also, they could probably help too.

If you take your car to Express Tire, you should get a second opinion before agreeing to do any work. This chain gets carried away with unnecessary upsales. Upsales are carefully worded sales pitches. My experience was to get pitched work that was both overpriced and totally unnecessary. Air filter for $40.00 that literally comes from Kragen for $17. Radiator hoses were estimated at $280. This was for aftermarket hoses and coolant was priced at $70. Besides being way overpriced, a second oppinion confirmed mine which was that these were not ready for replacement. The experience redefines a hose job. Stuts were pitched at $1200 with the pitch that they spotted " I think I saw fluid on one of the struts." The struts are totally operational. Nothing is ever discovered as legitimately broken or worn. Even oil changes get upsold with products that claim to remove sludge etc. You won't be told your engine has sludge, but that we recommen this for all vehicles with more than 50,000 miles. This is absurd and worthless. Do the research and just change your oil. Listen for wording like "at this mileage we recommend..." These people are aggressive salesmen who sell much unnecessary work, use the cheapest Kragen (or equivalent) parts and sell based on unwarranted fear.
Anybody can sell you tires. Guard your wallet.

First of all their selection is pretty minimal compared to other shops. They try to push goodyear and michelin on you but if you want something cheaper, they stick you with Coopers, the house brand in stock. If you want anything else, you need at least two days to get it in. This is far longer than other tire shops I've been to where they may only take a couple of hours to have the tires delivered. They were able to give me a ride to work but the pick up from work was 45minutes late which made me late for an appointment I had. I never would have scheduled my appoinment had they not assured me I they would deffinitely pick me up on time. I never got a call telling me my car was ready for pick up either; I could have gotten a ride from someone at work. The only call I did get was for other repairs and service they were trying to sell me that I didn't need. It felt like they weren't willing to provide a good service. They were just looking to get as much out of my wallet as possible. When I drove my car home there was a shaking in the steering that didn't exist before. I called to complain and they blamed it on bad rotors: I had these rotors replaced 9 months ago. I took into my mechanic to get the rotors examined and they were not warped. I had the wheels rebalanced somewhere else and the car drove fine after that. They couldn't even balance tire properly. Just lost a potential long time customer.

They have a huge selection of tires....many options for most cars...which I loved! Other places I've gone to have one type for each car...and the low price for a set for 'most cars' never includes my car! Not the case here...we got tires for both our cars at the low price advertised....they also were able to explain the benefits of higher priced tires...and kinda took us through a checklist of things to see if we needed them.

PROS: great selection, great prices
CONS:
