Horrible experience

by MiMi C.

If you're like me who can't stand awful and horrible customer service, especially for an important days like weddings, don't go to this Macy's. They are rude with pompous attitudes who don't even help you, or even give you a smile at least.

Loving every minute

by Allison K.

I have run the heavy dresses for side work at David's Bridal, and trust me I was not about to stress myself for plowing through that again. I thought I was just taking my first step out of the magazines, when my Mom drug me out to try some on for size. That's when we found Macy's, and so glad we did.
For anyone who can identify with anxiety and stressful situations, bridal shopping is the last place you want your blood pressure to rise. I don't even go to the mall during the holidays.
I must have walked in on my perfect day because I was only one of two bride's to be in the salon, and a personal assistant (my "good fairy" Flora) who was hands down patient and nurturing through every step. I'm one of those who knows what I want and knew I would love almost every dress I tried on. Who wouldn't love being Cinderella for the Ball? By the fourth dress I knew I had found the one when I started to cry. This was it. Italian silk and French lace. I had never dreamed of it being so beautiful, and the Macy's girls loved me all the way.
I got to walk down the "isle" with my step-dad, take pics with mom, and dance around the dress/ballroom.
Ladies, any place can be crowded every other day. Plan "your time" around this. The salon is a beautiful, clean, warm loving place. Every girl deserves their day, and every moment about it until then.

Rude and Condescending

by Laura L.

I went here to see if they had a sample of a particular bridesmaid dress I was looking for in order to get an idea of what it looked like in person. I called ahead and asked if they carried Eden bridesmaid gowns and they informed me that they did and I could just come in. One of my bridesmaids and myself went there and showed them the computer printout of the dress I was looking for. It's an empire waisted gown with sheer flowing sleeves (I'm having a medieval-esque wedding) by Eden. The woman stared at it a moment and then chuckled a little before calling over her co-worker. She laughed and said, "Look...it has SLEEVES!" They made a huge deal over the fact that the dress was not strapless and laughed over it before looking at me and rather condescendingly told me that they "don't carry things like THAT" in their store. Highly disappointed with their attitude. Would never recommend the place and I've heard similar stories from others who went there.

Denise is the Best

by Missy T.

After going to about seven other bridal salons and finding nothing and dealing with rude workers..Macy's was a welcomed delight. As soon as I got there I knew that that was where I was going to get my wedding dress. Denise was able to pull several dresses for me that I loved. She was so helpful, patient, and made me feel like a princess. I also got my bridesmaids dresses there and they are beautiful. Definitely ask for Denise-she's the best!

Amanda from Macy's custom made my wedding gown.

by Elizabeth G.

Unfortunately for Macy's customers Amanda doesn't work at Macy's anymore. Fortunately she does alterations at home. I go there every time I need something done. She works very fast and is an excellent professional. She can make the alterations at home and will save you money instead of doing the alterations at the shop. She made my wedding gown exactly as I wanted it. It was perfect for that perfect occasion.I just love her work. If you need alterations and want a good job done give her a call (732-651-9878).

Denise G.

by Denise G.

I have to write to you about Maria Stalas. My son is getting married and I went to Macy's Bridal Salon in Menlo Park, NJ. Maria approached me in a very gentle way to help me look for a dress. She was so helpful and not at all pushy. Once I described to her what I thought I liked. . . she was able to pull several gowns that looked very good on me. She helped me until I found the perfect gown. Maria was always very pleasant, calm and very professional. Lisa helped me also and she was just wonderful. They both worked with me until I found the perfect gown. Maria and Lisa are definitely an asset to Macy's Bridal Salon and should really be commended for their hard work, dedication and knowledge of their job. I will definitely be back when my other son gets married and will definitely spread the word to all my friends about Macy's Bridal Salon. I will let you know if I am as satisfied with the alterations. Thank you.

my daughter's bridal veil

by Anonymous

I purchased my daughter's veil back in January of 2007 and picked it up October 2nd 2007 and I was not happy. First of all, it was very expensive and wringled! With the price I spend for the veil and the blusher I would think steaming would not be an issue. I believe it should be included. Very Very disapointed!! MOB---mother of the bride

Sooo Glad I went here!

by nancy f. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,196

I went here looking for bridal gowns and was greeted by Fran, well I explained to her what I was looking for and she immediately started pulling gowns for me to try on. Much to my amazement, one of them was beautiful, but I never imagined myself wearing something so elegant but yet very, okay I'll say it sexy. Well this gown was a size 8 and I take a 10, so I made an appointment to go back again the next day with my mom, and this time got Elaine. We went to a couple of places and immediately ruled out a number of them, it became a toss up between 2 places and my mom became as confused as I was. After talking it over and debating about the 2, we both agreed on the one from Macy's. Well it was ordered and I will tell you, I did not have much time to have it made, delivered, alterations and bought. They did it, Diana was fantastic, knew instantly what needed to be done, I told her I only had a few days for alterations and she never once made me feel like I was being impossible! Kim took my measurements and double checked to make sure it could be delivered in time. They all were great, professional and do know what they are doing!!!!! I Thank You

Very happy...Great Service

by Cecilia N.

This salon was recommended to me by a co-worker and it was the first stop I made when I became engaged. The ladies were wonderful (Fran and Kim) and I was very happy with their honesty. (I don't like to be told something looks good on me just to get the sale.) They also talked me into trying something new, outside of my comfort zone and I'm so glad I did. The dress I purchased was not at all what I thought would look good on me and I never would have tried it on if it were not for Fran and Kim. My dress is lovely and was altered by Amanda who did all of the measurements AND sewing.

I thought I could not have been happier, until my Mom need altering to a dress that she wanted to wear. She was concerned so needless to say, so was I until I called Kim and asked for her assistance. She got us in that day, introduced us to Diana and our day was made when Diana said "No problem we can fix this". These ladies are professionals and a pleasure to work with.

Worth a Look

by Jamie K. | insider Insider | Rank: 22,574

My maid of honor and I went to Macys Bridal Salon on our first day out looking at gown. I already knew I loved their designers gowns. We walked around looking at just about every dress, making mental notes of which ones should be on the try-on list. The salon is very nicely set up. There is plenty of room to walk, with the dresses spaced out enough that you can view them easily. It is very well-lit. We were quite pleased since the shop we had been to earlier was just the opposite. It was a little hot in there, so I recommend dressing light if you plan to be shopping for a while. Some of the dresses in this Macys Bridal Salon were in bags, while others were just out on the racks. They had a huge selection of gowns ranging in just about every style that we could have imagined.

An appointment wasnt necessary to shop, but the lady at the counter had told us to let her know if we want to try anything on. When we did, we were introduced to Fran. We were quite skeptical at first as she hurried us through the racks asking us which ones we want to see on and grabbing them, before rushing us into the dressing room. My maid of honor quickly informed her that this was our first trip and that we expected to be trying on quite a number of dresses to see what looks good and what doesnt. Fran quickly vetoed a dress, saying that I dont want that dress because it looks too old fashioned. I thought about it for a minute before agreeing, and she rushed to go put it back and get undergarments.

The dressing rooms are large, with plenty of hooks, a mirror and a chair in each. They have doors which the employees dont seem to like to use. It gave me enough privacy, however, that I didnt feel uncomfortable. Once the dress is on, you walk into a room with tons of mirrors and step up onto a platform to look at yourself in the mirror. There is room for two brides to be to try on dresses. When we went on a weekday in the afternoon, we were the only ones there and had this room to ourselves. When I went back on a weekend and a weeknight, the place was packed and there were other girls trying dresses on.

I saw a lot of size 10 samples, but quite a few other sizes as well. The samples were in decent shape. My dress was a year old already and it was showing wear. The samples were relatively clean but some of the details on the dresses were seeing the ramifications of being tried on so much. I dont think it was any better or worse than any other bridal shop I had gone in up to that point or since then.

I tried on whatever Fran told me to. She began explaining what she been working in bridal shops for 30 years. She felt like she had an idea of what would look with me. By the time the gown was laced up, I was in shock. The dress she had put me in had accentuated every part of my body I liked, and hid all of my trouble spots. I LOVED the first dress I put on. Fran explained that the wrap around in the front gave me a longer look than a ball gown which would cut me off half-way and make me look stumpy. She explained why the gowns structure accentuated the areas I liked. She knew exactly what would look good on me, which would have taken me many trips of trying dresses on to figure out, and even then, I might not have gotten it right.

But that wasnt all. Fran said she has the dress for me and left the room. She came back with a more classic looking dress. Same style, but the detailing was lace and pearls, with tons of details on the bottom and train. She was right, it was the dress. I never could have found it without her.

I went back two more times with different family members. All three times they allowed us to take tons of pictures, and I even have a picture with Fran and the lady who took my measurements. Ordering was an easy process. Price-wise, they are not too bad but Im sure you could do better. I felt it wasnt worth it for convenience. My dress is a strapless princess gown, with a wrap around. It is diamond white, made of Italian satin. It has lace, beads and sequence on the bodice, down to the waist, a bit on the wrap, and all over the bottom and the semi cathedral train. The gown has lace scallops at the bottom. The price was reasonable, although I did have to pay extra for a custom hollow to hem since I am so short.

Most of the staff was great, with the exception of 1 woman who was a bit terse when I asked her how much alterations generally cost after the fittings. She wouldnt even give me a price range. They told me the gown will be in 6 months from the order date, and that I will receive a phone call when it is in. I ordered a swatch (no charge) and it came in within 2 weeks. Will update this when I receive my gown.

Very Helpful Staff

by Trish G. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,318

These ladies made my wedding day exactly as I had pictured it. They were truly angels to me on my special day. Not only did they help me with my dress but they also helped register for the gifts that I wanted at my shower and gave me great suggestions on my makeup and hair. They made me feel very special.

Not one I would vote for!!!

by Nandhini L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,637

I wouldn't vote for this salon. It's too expensive and it's not worth the money to spend on the salon. The hairstyling is not impressive and the products are so dull and not to expected level.

PROS: Not applicable
CONS: Not vote for!!!

Selection is good, prices are fair, alterations are a nightmare!

by Anonymous

In terms of buying and selecting your gown, this is a great place to go. They have a lot of choices, can accommodate you with an appointment around your schedule, and they are nice. If you do buy here, I would suggest doing the alterations elsewhere. They switch seamstresses in the middle of the alterations, so one measured, another sews, another finishes....too inconsistent and much room for error.
Otherwise, a good place to shop for your gown though!

Great selection, fair prices

by Anonymous

The Bridal Salon at the Macy's in the Menlo Park Mall, Edison, NJ has a wonderful selection. This is where I ultimately purchased my wedding gown. The alterations were done there as well, and though they charge additional, they were accomodating. The dresses are great, and the prices are fair. The staff can be friendly too, depending on what time you arrive and if you have an appointment. Overally, a pleasurable experience. You can find anything from mid to high priced gowns, and they are beautiful!
