Discovery park is amazing! It is a mammoth park in the middle of Seattle. The emerald city is not the largest city by any stretch, but the population is pretty dense. That said it can be really nice to know a few spots quiet spots spots. This place in the summer will be buzzing with activity and makes for great people watching. The views are spectacular, some of the best in town. I would say this place is great for tourist or locals alike!

If you don't have time to make it to the many hiking trails outside of Seattle then Discovery Park makes a great escape for the outdoor lover. It is a huge park that sits at the tip of Magnolia and is filled with trails and great water views. I would recommend walking around (instead of driving) the trails and taking in all the natural beauty this city park has to offer. It is an odd setup though and some of the signs can be mis-leading, so I would grab a map at the visitor's center before wandering around. This park does have a lot of open space and if you don't have to time to make it out of the city, it could be a great adventure into nature.

It's becoming more and more popular. But if visitors keep their dogs on a leash and stay on existing trails, then the beauty of Discover Park will last for a very long time.

Pros: A complete escape right in the city.

Cons: The word is out.

from the hussle and bussle of the city, just minutes away.

Large walking paths and breathtaking views.

I love taking my kids to the park. They have a zip cord swing that is always a hit. They even have a children's playroom where the kids can learn about nature and play.

A great time for the entire family.

We went out to Discovery Park on a weekday this last summer and were quite impressed with all that there was to see and do. They have many, many miles of trails that take you from woodlands to the sound and up to the last remnants of a old military base. They have a military cemetary also that we found fasinating to walk through.

Discovery Park is a great park located at one of Seattle?s westernmost points in Magnolia. The park is huge! There are miles of trails to walk and some to ride on bikes. There are several fields for outdoor sports, amazing views throughout the area, and several picnic areas. If you are going to fly a kite, this is the place to do it in Seattle!
