Ack's Attic

This is on the downtown strip in Boulder City and is located ideally for an antique store. Actually it feels like an old attic -- there are all sorts of things that look like they belong in an attic and haven't been touched for years. No beautiful furniture or lamps or things of value -- just old lunchboxes, campaign buttons and "junque" like that. The worst thing about it is the apparent rudeness of the owner. I visited that street for at least 3 years before it was ever open and I was thrilled to see it at last. Usually it has a closed sign in the window and the best you can do is peek in. There were signs also that were nasty in tone and suggested you'd better not touch things inside. There was a sign saying by appointment and I believe that a while ago it said there was a charge to come in and it would be applied to a purchase. I think that sign is gone. When I finally got to see it, I found it to be a disorganized mess which was full of overpriced "stuff."

PROS: Nothing, except good location
CONS: Dirty looking store, usually closed.

Ack's Attic is one of the several antique type stores in Boulder City and is definitely the strangest. It is closed most of the time. When it is open, and you go in to shop, there are many warning signs about breaking and buying. The proprietor did not acknowledge my presence. The items were very overpriced, and I never actually saw anyone buy anything. There were items perched on the edges of shelves, as well as on the floor, making one wonder if most of the sales came from breakage. This is a store that's best left closed.

Quite a unique store. One thinks of things being stored in the attic from old times. This store has it all.. Take your time and look around. Ack's Attic is quite quaint.
