I went to this specific animal shelter to adopt my cat almost a year ago. The people who worked there were really friendly and patient. They had two rooms of cats, one right in the front of the shelter and another towards the back, both of which you had free access to check out (and I was going back and forth many times trying to decide!). They pick up strays around the area. They were FULL of little kittens, many just a month or so old. The dogs were in another room naturally, but I hadn't gone in there because I was looking specifically for a cat.
The place was nice, could've been a bit cleaner. When I finally picked my cat, they gave us free food and included the pillow that she was accustomed to sleeping on in her cage. They also "tag" the animal for free which is, they surgically put a micro chip into the head of the animal so if it should ever become lost they can trace it. This is completely optional for those who think it's cruel to do so. We had it done to our kitten and we were assured it wouldnt hurt her at all.
Unfortunately, we took home a sick kitten but they gave us the cold medicine for free and told us its hard NOT to get a sick animal there because the cold is constantly passed back and forth between the animals staying there. It was a little bit of a hassle, but it wasnt too terrible.
They are NOT a no-kill shelter, which is why we went there. We felt we were saving an animals life by adopting there rather than a no-kill shelter.
The longest part of the adoption was picking the animal! After that, it was pretty quick getting all the paper work in order and going home with my new companion who is now 1 year and 2 months old and the best thing that's happened to me recently!
PROS: pleasant staff, easy adoption process
CONS: Not that clean, do eventually kill animals
