Inconsistant results, too casual, a bit crass/self focused at times.
Sometimes great, sometimes not, often distracted/self absorbed.
Seems well intentioned, yet not very "class act."
Ruth seems like she's lost her "spark" and does enough to just get by, with a bit of a "take it or leave it" attitude; Saida seems very ego inflated and a bit harsh with poor listening skills at times; Sara seems nice and caring yet inconsistant and distracted by the other two at times. Overall, they could all be better focused on, and appreciative of their guests/clients.

I started going to Ruth right after she graduated from cosmetology school. Even when I lived in Montana and the Portland area, I still went to Ruth whenever I visited Washington. I have NEVER heard her use foul language in public, as the earlier post suggested. In fact, as her good friend, I have never heard Ruth speak inappropriately in a social setting.

Ruth is very conscientious and genuinely cares about her clients' happiness. My color always lookes great and the cut is always up-to-date and easy to style. I've recommended Ruth to many friends throughout the years and everyone has had a very positive experince at Salon Featherly.

I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Saida Hanson for several years and love her! I get lots of compliments from friends and family about my hair. If you want a great cut or hair color you can find it from anyone at Salon Featherly.

On a positive note, they are in a good location, serve beverages, have a big TV (not on when I was there), and the man at the front desk was very nice. However, this salon has a lot of cons. This is a very casual place, I do not recommend it if you are looking for an upscale salon. The owner (Ruth) had no problem taking and making personal phone calls, using foul language, and discussing her bodily functions with me, all while doing my hair. I prefer to be treated like a client, not a girlfriend. She has been a hairstylist for years but couldn't do a decent blowout and struggled to style my hair. Last but not least, my color and cut was not what I asked for or what we had discussed and I was charged more than I had been told it would be. Maybe it was just Ruth, the other stylist that was there seemed to know what she was doing and her clients hair looked great. I decided to go to a different salon instead of risking another trip here for my last cut and color. Good luck if you take a risk and go here.

Ruth gets my haircut right each and everytime! The place is fun, the people are energetic and friendly. Everyone I have suggested Salon Featherly to has gone back again and again. Great location and easy to get to.

I love this place!! The prices are really reasonable for the area and the stylists are really great at helping fit the style to your personality! I haven't had a better cut and color from anywhere! My stylist is Sarah, she is soooo fun. Down to earth but really able to help me keep up with the trends. The salon was remodeled this last fall and it looks great. Trendy but also relaxed and not cold or sterile feeling. I love being able to go in and just relax. My first time in Sarah ran next door and picked up dinner for me (late appointment) and then while she applied my color I was able to veggie out with a magazine. A while later the hawks game started and I was able to watch it on a hd plasma!! Talk about great service!! After the color I was treated to the best scalp massage ever. I left feeling like a million bucks and didnt even go broke. Try it out for yourself!!!

I decided to try this salon after seeing all these great reviews here. Big mistake. My appt was w/Saida. I asked for a bob, longer in the front (inverted), slightly layed on the ends so it lays nicely under and about 1-1/2" off the ends. This would take it to about my chin. She even said, "anything shorter you would not like". I made it very clear what I wanted. When I showed my family and friends, they all said it was too short and cut straight, not inverted at all. I then went to 2 different stylists from two different salons, explained what I had asked for and got their opinions. Both agreed, it was too short, she didn't invert at all, she cut it completely straight, no layering of the ends which should have been done with my fine texture and the back was too heavy. Both said I have to wait several months for it to grow out to the desired length. In the meantime, both agreed that something needs to be done about the back to make it even look somewhat decent. I called Saida and explained the situation. She immediately became defensive and angry, even yelling at me. I tried to keep the call on track, but she wouldn't let me get a word in. She was insulted that I got opinions from other stylists and refused to give me a refund. After her unprofessional behavior over the phone, there was no way I would go back to this place.

EDITED-I was given a refund for my bad haircut so this has been resolved.

My hairdresser was Ruth who is the owner as well. She was awesome, providing me excellent customer service and wonderful suggestions to work with my hair, as she would put it "play with my hair". The prices were reasonable well within my budget, I had hair color and foil, with a cut and I bought hair products and including the tip, all this under 150.00. At most uppity hair salons I would had to pay 200.00 or more for the services provided. The atmosphere is relaxing and laid back. No noses are up in the air at Salon Featherly.

I went here one time but I can already tell this place is exceptional. The people here were attentive and got my haircut right. My usual hair salon was closed but I am not sorry. The manager obviously cares for a fun and outgoing type of environment. I felt like a little girl again. Ofcourse, I did not look like one. I asked for a certain haircut and got it. Simple as that. I'd come here again

Girls lok no farther then this hair depot. they are a hoot, they are fun to be around and make your hair styling experience fun and enjoyable to get. I felt like a girl all over again when i was there. it was like a scene out of a movie. so i suggest this spot to have a girls spa day out.

Currently has two stylists who are color specialists. They recently attended the Toni and Guy academy in New York and learned the latest cuts. They are excellent!! Prices are extremely reasonable, considering they are in the Eastside. (Usually expensive!)
