THIS PLACE SUCKS! BAD TAILORING! WORST EVER  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Whoever got a good tailor job here must not get clothes tailored often.

This place RUINED a 165.00 Burberry shirt of mine! MY FAVORITE SHIRT! (my g-ma got for me). Then when I kindly explained that they didnt do something properly, the old chinese man flipped on me!

His wife did the pinning, he did the tailoring. He got liberal with the cutting and removed too much fabric and the shirt didnt fit me properly afterward at all. He rendered it unwearable - RUINED.

His excuse was, "You must keep your arms at down position at all times in this shirt now." What?!! You should be able to have a fine fitting dress shirt, but with complete mobility. Like any respectable tailor can provide.

I looked at him in the midst of his pathetic display, and told him he had a poor attitude, this is not the right way to tailor a shirt and that I would not be paying one dirty cent for this.

He ran off to the back, and his wife and daughter told me, "He does this all the time. Please take your shirt - We sorry."

I wish they had told me that from the get go. I am not going to file a small claims against them cause its not worth it. But, I would be happy if that man never tailored again.

Save yourself the trouble and the inflated cost, if you want your shirt ruined do it yourself.

6 yrs here and it's the Best place I've found!  5 Star Rating - World class

I took a very elegant/expensive bridesmaid dress there to be alterted and bustled. She was extremely creative with how the bustle worked and when I got to the wedding my dress fit me better than any of the other bridesmaids and mine was the only bustle that actually worked and held up throughout the night! I was sold. I then took them the same dress, ridden with tons of water stains, and VIP Tailoring got them out. I'm convinced they can do anything!

not the best  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

Not the best work for the high price. Also, when I dropped off my item, I was told that it would be $30. When I returned they said that it was $35. They had given me a hand-written receipt that was not very legible. I think it said $30 and I know that they told me $30 but they would not listen and charged $35. I hope $5 was worth a possible long-term customer.

Anyway, if you do go, get a clear receipt but I would recommend finding another place...

Wonderful people  4 Star Rating - Very good

This is a family run shop. My boyfriend always takes his new pant and suit jackets here to be tailored. They have a very professional staff that really takes care of their customers. The final products always turn out to perfection. If you are looking for a quality experience from beginning to end you should give them a chance.

Best Tailor and Dry Cleaner in Downtown DC!  5 Star Rating - World class

Before finding VIP, I would take my clothes all over DC for tailoring and dry cleaning. Most of the time, I was seriously disappointed. These places could never get alterations right and my clothes often came back in just as bad a condition as when I sent them out.

VIP is different. It is run by a family. They take time, look at your clothes, listen to you and do the alterations on site. I don't know if dry cleaning is done on site, but the quality is very good.

The place is kind of hard to find. But, pay attention ... It's right across the street from Hecht's.

PROS: Great quality and service
CONS: Somewhat hard to find
