Petco

This store is practically next door to a PetSmart but the two stores are very different. While the PetSmart is packed full of supplies, crowded, and loud, the PetCo is much more open and spacious feeling - and more importantly, the animals are better-cared for in clean, spacious cages. PetCo prices are slightly higher but I much prefer to shop here.
In particular, as a bird owner, I am particularly concerned about how the birds are cared for. The small parrots they sell are as intelligent as dogs are require similar socialization to make good pets. Although they may not be ideal (I would always choose a breeder over a pet store for a bird) they take pretty good care of thier birds with large, very clean cages, and adequate toys, perches, and handling. Sometimes one of the cashiers will have a bird on her shoulder.

I love going to the pet stores and shopping for my dog. So when I go, I like it when there is a great selection. Petco has many different brands for your dog as well as every thing else you can imagine.

They love being able to wander around and see all the different animals (and so did my husband!) And the staff here is so friendly and knowledgable, and question I had, they were able to answer! The selection here is great, too! Their "Petco PALS" sales too, are always pretty good offers!

This is a great place to buy supplies. Lots of variety. The people have always been friendly. They have a LOT of stuff here. I would recommend to others who want to take their pet or just pick up supplies.

So true. A real animal friendly store.
Bring your critter in on a leash and stroll the store.
Not too many places you can do this at..so it is a real treat for the owner as well as the pet.

Large selection of merchandise.
I am a clearance hound...and not much to sniff through. :o)

Very clean store..and most importantly, it does NOT smell.

Our dog loves to go into this store... The cashiers are all so sweet and give him treats when we come to the register... He's a barker and loves to try and intimidate other dogs... He's a chihuahua mix and only weighs about 18lbs... Half the dogs he barks at could take him lol... Petco is a great place for food, clothes, and all kinds of pet accessories! Friendly and helpful staff!

PROS: Staff and merchandise
CONS: Some prices are a little steep but probably worth the extra money
