I didn't even realize they didn't have a Level III NICU until I went into pre-term labor with our 2nd baby at 31 weeks. I checked into the maternity floor at 10pm, and had to be transported to Stanford via ambulance at 1am because they have no way of caring for a baby born before 34 weeks. The birthing suites are spacious, clean, and comfortable, but I can only recommend it if you are having a normal pregnancy. If you are at high risk or have a history of giving birth pre-term, you need to find a different hospital, or at least have an alternate discussed with your OB. Feel bad for leaving a low rating because it is circumstantial.... however, I must agree that I wouldn't have chosen this hospital if I knew this fact ahead of time since our first child was born 4 weeks early.
