The place is bankrupt. Painting, maintenance, cleaning, training have all been cut back. Six Flags had iffy ride maintenance before, I can only imagine how bad it is now. Keep in mind that some of the attractions are from 1976! Holy metal fatigue! Several attraction break down on a regular basis. Prices are sky high for food and beverages. Food quality is very low. Stick to Panda Express or Johnny Rockets for decent food.Staffing levels are kept low so lines are long for everything from the bathrooms to the roller coasters.Other posters are correct...the park is very dirty and could use soap and water. Peeling paint makes the place seem like it is on its last legs.If only Marriott still owned the place

Dirty. The park needs a steam cleaning so bad it's not even funny. Bathrooms smell.
What happened to landscaping? Bare earth is somehow in or something. peeling paint and overpriced food.
Oh wait, I forgot the lockers you have to PAY for to get on rides. I've been to about 15 parks in my life and this is the only one to make you pay for a locker before waiting in line for 1.5+ hours.
why did they add "bring a friend for free" day? Now we have to check the calender before going as those days are just insanely crowded and there's no way ANYONE can get near a roller coaster in under 2 hours.
I used to enjoy taking my kids there. Now it's a "summer must" that I endure. Shame, I used to love the place, but they fleeced the flock once too often for my taste.

Six Flags, wake up. I can't say for sure why you're nearly bankrupt, but it may be because you've ticked off loyal customers one too many times.

It used to be good fun to visit Six Flags. We'd get a season pass, go two, maybe three times a year. However, at a certain point, it started to feel like SF was trying to shake us down for more cash. We've been going to Walt Disney World annually for several years now, and the differences are stunning.

Parking. Disney's like $12. All the spots suck, but they have constant trams to haul you to their Transportation Center. You can get around on monorail, boat, or bus from there, or drive around, since they give in and out privs. The approaches to the Magic Kingdom are clearly designed to inspire some awe and wonder in the kids. Clear value.

Six Flags used to be a flat fee parking setup, you got there early, you got a spot close to the entrance. Now they have "premium" parking, for which you pay something like double the normal price. What's fair about that? And why does it cost more to park at Six Flags than it does at Disney, when Disney's loaded to the gills with trams and monorails, and Six Flags is just a dull walk across a vast expanse of asphalt?

Disney's certainly got the more expensive tickets. Except that you can buy a multi-day pass, and if you buy a 10-day pass, with park hopper option, and no expiration, your average cost per day comes out to be much less than admission to Six Flags. You do have to pay for it all up front, but then again, you get your choice of any (or all) of the four Disney parks on each of those days, and you've locked in your pricing for the remainder of those days. Six Flags comes out better if you do a season pass and attend several days, but otherwise Disney's a winner.

Disney has a fantastic (and fair) fast pass system. Everyone can use it. It costs nothing more. There are reasonable limits and a clear concept of fairness built into the system. The Six Flags model for no-wait riding? Pay *more*. LOTS more. It's not enough that we've already dropped over a hundred bucks to get into the park... that only gets you the dubious "privilege" of sitting in long lines.

Disney has definite problems with long lines. During peak times, it is not unusual to see hour-plus wait times. Oh, wait, Six Flags has that little problem too.

So we visit Disney in the off season, when ... guess what ... they're actually open, and it's even nice weather (assuming you're used to Illinois or Wisconsin winters, 65' is perfectly fine at Disney), and the lines are very reasonable.

How about food? There are always lines at Six Flags. I think what really sticks with me is waiting through a line for more than an *hour* for food at Six Flags. Not because it was really that busy, but because of the four registers, they only had one open for Fright Fest, staffed by surly and certainly overworked kids. Disney? Good lord, staffed by all these old people... except that they really move, are really sharp, keep things moving, and oh yeah, the only times I've seen significant lines for food at Disney, they had all lanes open and were working their butts off. I have never, ever felt that Disney understaffed their park. Six Flags? It always feels like they're cutting corners. Areas closed, concession stands unmanned, etc.

Disney also shows an immense amount of care and detail in the execution of their rides, well-implemented themes and meticulous maintenance and upkeep of their grounds, and overall is just a better park. Six Flags absolutely kills them when you consider how many coasters SF has, but I've really come to believe that it's more about quality than quantity. Disney has the quality. SF has the quantity.

We now visit Disney more often than we visit Six Flags, despite the fact that Six Flags is local to us. I don't appreciate the feeling I get from Six Flags of being "just another wallet to exploit." I hope something changes, but if it doesn't, we'll continue to travel further to Disney, and other great venues like Cedar Point.

My husband & I recently ( Oct.2008) went to Great America. We bought two season passes plus paid for the extra parking plus package. We were allowed to go to Fright Fest 2008 and we are going back Nov.2 which is the last day it will be open for the season. Buying the season passes are the way to go for the best deal if your wanting to save money. I was disappointed with fright fest because we didnt see that many monsters walking around this year but the overall of the day was great. Line for rides was about 40 mins, some of the food lines were longer than the rides. Remember to bring warm clothes when you come, I didnt and I ended up buying a jacket for $26 which wasnt too bad. I bought some fudge there from Trudies candy shop and I found that too be very costly but I love the fudge. The staff is always helpful there and the park is always kept clean pretty well for as many people that visit in just one day. The shows are great to watch also!!

We love Six Flags Great America. We go at least once per year and love the variety of things to do. The shows are fun and professional and there are so many rides you could never ride them all even in a week.

The lines are, of course, too long and the rides are, of course, too short, but our family always has lots of fun at Great America. My personal favorite is batman, so we always head there first and are usually able to ride it two or three times before it gets crowded. The kids area is also very nice and it is well maintained. Buying food there is expensive, so it helps to bring a picnic to eat back at your car.

Six Flags Great America is known for its rides and rush during the summer. I personally don't think that the place is worth its money. Tickets are extremely expensive and line is as long as 2 hours for a 5 minute ride. You can spend the whole day there and just sit on about 40-50 percent of the rides. The reason is because its too big and crowded to explore in one day

PROS: Variety of rides
CONS: Price, Lines too long

Six Flags is a good amusement park. They have a good selection of rides, from intense to tame. Like many, Batman is a definite favorite for me! The lines can be long and some of the rides are dissappointingly short. Prices are avarge for this kind of amusement park. Fright fest is a lot of fun, but don't expect the super scary! Its fun, but pretty tame.

Went to Frightfest this year and it was a great time! All of the rides and attractions were running and they are beyond awesome. Also, a haunted house was available for an extra couple of dollars; The wait was LONG and it wasn't worth it. It was much more scary walking around the park and having the ghouls and monsters scare you. Always remember to find a coupon when going to Great America; because they usually are on Coke cans.

This is a great park for those who like thrill rides. Im not a big roller coaster fan, although the Batman is the most intense minute you will ever experience, a definite must try. There arent a whole lot of rides that dont make me vomit at this park, but its still a pretty good time. The games and shops add to the lure and the Moose Lodge makes a great burger. They also do a great job with their Halloween Fright Fest, so that adds to the fun. Its a great thing to do on occasion, but Im looking forward to trying the new waterpark.

Six Flags overall is a fun place to go. It is super expensive so your best deal is to go two days in a row. There are great rollercoasters and shows and lots of little giftshops to visit. The Fright Fest is not all that great though. They say it is super scary but it isn't. It's the same park with a few halloween decorations thrown up and some red dye in the fountain.

This is way north so it is a drive for some in the suburbs. The park is very big and there are lots of rides. I've heard that rides get tested here and then copied at the bigger six flags like in california. The best ride there is Raging Bull. Bring some cash cause like at any theme park, everything is expensive. Traffic and crowds can be a nightmare is you go there on the wrong day.

Six Flags is the best amusement park in the Midwest! They have SO many fun roller coasters. My favorites are the two wooden coasters, the racing American Eagle cars and the Viper. You also can't miss Superman and Batman. Don't forget to check out their new water park! Admission is $45, but you can get discounts if you collect Coke cans. It's also worth buying the pass that lets you jump ahead in line if you're going on a busy weekday.

I found the layout of Great America hard to deal with forcing you to walk arround rides alot. The constant playing of Venga Boys "We Like To Party" makes you want to stab you ears towards the end of the day. If you have been to Cedar Point, this park will disappoint you.

This amusement park is one of the best in the world. Although the prices are now pretty steep, for a family to enjoy a day of fun, it is well worth the trip and price. There are people from all over the world who visit it to ride the roller coasters, the shows are good, and the games are kept up to date

Great place for all ages. Soo many things to do that you need more than one day to do it all. Everything from kiddy rides to largest and fastest coasters and water slides, shows, and food! New water park is great! But will cost you about $8-10 for a locker. Lots of lifeguards to help watch the kids! Long lines for the water slides, but a great huge wave pool! Places to eat are pricey & games are a waste of money.

PROS: Great rides & water park!
CONS: Only one entrance & exit, lots of walking-need good shoes! Kind of pricey!

This is by far the best amusement park that I have ever been to. The prices go up almost every year, but they also add new rides all the time. The newest attraction is the water park, which is great. You don't have to wait in long lines if you get there early, but during the day it does start to pick up pace and there can be outrageous lines for some of the rides. Just make sure that you go on rides you can handle because this is one place that you don't want to be sick! There's always a lot going on around you, and it's a great place to be. The twicket thing is best if you plan on going for more than one day!

I like Great America, mostly because they do try to put new rides up every once in a while. I wish they would use a fast pass system for all the rides because that would definitely make things much better. Who wants to wait 2 hours for every ride? At that rate, you can only go on 4 rides in one day, if you take into account time for eating and shopping. That's not worth the admission price in my book.

I had a wonderful experience at this park last weekend. They now have Hurricane Harbor open, which is a separate water park. I recomend brinigng a towel, swimsuit under clothes, suntan lotion and extra money. You can rent tubes for $8 for a single and $11 for a double which gives you a fast pass to the lazy river and other areas. Lockers are recomended at $10 all day in and out access. A souvenir bottle is $8 with refills at only $1 so that is the best drink deal. Fun place to go.

If you cannot afford to get on a plan and go to Disney World or Land, this is the place for you. They have very exciting roller coasters, fun water rides and plenty of games and prizes. The wait in lines for the rides on average is about 40 to 60 minutes, no kidding, but it is worth it. My family and I usually make a day of it and bring lots of our own food and drinks in a cooler. The food there is way too over priced. For the value the tickets dont really cost that much and it is a lot of fun.

This place has something for everyone! The rollercoasters for the older kids (and those who are kids at heart!) and an area of "gentlier" rides and things for the younger kiddies! It is a little pricey though, since you are paying the the "Loney Tunes" and such. If you're planning to go, get there early and spend the whole day to make it worth your money!

This was more of a special treat once a summer. They've added a water park to their amusement park so perhaps go twice a year now. There's always some deal on bringing a Coke can with a coupon on it to save $5 or $10 per person. Pack a lunch and you could save big time for a family of 4.

Great america is the coolest place. We go every summer because there's usually a new ride or something. Start saving those coke cans now! The Batman ride is the best, but always has long lines.

Six Flags Great America is so much fun. We usually go up every summer althought because of the new baby we have not gone in over a year. They have the best roller coasters. Prices can be on the high side. Look for coupons. Also, a new free water park.

This is the BEST place to go for rides, games, and fun!!! I go here atleast three times every summer. I buy their season pass, which is not too expensive. With the season pass I can go as much as I want. Their rides are amazing. Every year they come out with a new ride. Great place to go!

This place has the most awesome roller coasters!! But if you don't like roller coasters they have sooo many other rides as well. Its great for adults and kids. They even have an IMAX theater. But this park is outdoors so make sure to check the weather before you go!
