Donnelly House & Gardens

I enjoyed a wonderful wedding at the Donnelly House. The staff was great. However, Doug Blank must be the worst person to ever run a business. He is very disorganized, and talks in circles. I was married in 2006 and have yet to receive my deposit back. Doug continues to give excuses as to why I haven't received the deposit. I HIGHLY recommend NOT doing business with The Donnelly House IF Doug Blank is involved.

This place is gorgeous! It is a three-story historic mansion located on Highland Ave. Reserved mainly for weddings, they also can do parties and receptions. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The house itself is decorated in a classical-Victorian style, and is very inviting. The prices vary, but expect to pay a little more--it's worth it.

First of all, I will start with saying the Donnelly House is a beautiful historic site in Birmingham, Alabama. The staff and all involved in my wedding were terrific except for DOUG BLANK. This man runs the Donnelly House and assists with finanaces and planning of events; one can not get around dealing with him if planning an event at the Donnelly House. Lets just say that personality and finances are Not his strengths. He is extremely unprofessional and dishonest! In addition, expect a hassle getting your deposit back or to not get it back at all.
It is an absolute shame that this amazing place is associated with such a bad reputation due to this one person--Doug Blank.

The Historic Donnelly House & Gardens has been removed from Doug Blanks care, it is now under sole management of Culinard Special Events, as of October 2007. Culinard Special Events (formerly culinard Catering) has nothing to do with the former manager of this facility. Please see their website www.culinardspecialevents.com for more information. I had a WONDERFUL party there in November with 255 guests, and it was absolutely beautiful!!
I recommend this facility to anyone for any occasion.
