The Big Springs Cafe on Governors Drive has the best small all meat hamburgers around, period! They fry them up right in front of you using fresh hamburger meat (no fillers). The nickname is the home of the Greasy Burger and man are they good! They normally come with Onion & Mustard but you can get Mayo & tomato if you want. Big Springs Cafe has been around Huntsville for over 75 years or longer.
If your in the mood for a dog, try their Chili or Slaw Dog. They too are outstanding.
The place will remind you of a small diner as you will most likely have to sit on a bar stool and the place is always hoping from 11 to 2..
If your in the mood for that special burger place to eat a small, greasy all meat burger or a slaw or chili dog, this place is unique in Huntsville.

This is the place you go for good southern comfort food just like your mom and grandma made. The food is excellent and the service is warm and friendly. It's a great place to get yummy vegetables.

Historic place, its just what you expect when you drive up
by byron b.
This is the place, or is just like the place, my grandpa would take me for lunch. The food is good, the service is friendly, the price is nostalgic. I will take my sons next time, and I hope my dad will go along with us. Its a lot closer than Route 66, but would fit right in.

Good & Cheap!

Big Spring Cafe is the type of place you see in the movies. A kind of cramped roadside diner with red bar stools and coffee-sipping regulars who sit in the same spot every day. The cooks are friendly and cook "whatever you want, hon" right in front of your eyes. The food is very Southern: a bit greasy and always oversized. Their fare is cheap and the whole restaurant offers something that everyone needs to experience at least once in his or her lifetime. Look for the block lettered sign on Governor's Drive and order up a hamburger. It'll only set you back $1.00 or so!
