Reviews for Metro Fitness

Ratings_icons Metro Fitness is the best

Kris C.

I've been a member of MetroFitness for 8 years now. In response to the earlier review, I'm over 60 years old, far from anorexic, and definitely not "upper echelon". I have lots of friends at the gym and have always felt welcomed and supported by both the other members and the staff. With over 60 classes a week, it's easy to find a class that suits my interest and ability and the instructors are the best trained I've ever had---always introducing new, fun classes. The cleanliness surpasses anywhere I have ever been and that's a "biggie" with me. Since the price is all-inclusive (no additional charge for amenities or special classes), I find it very competitive. A friend joined Gold's thinking they were saving money, but after all the add-on's for certain classes, etc., their rate was $10 a month more than I pay at Metro. Decide for yourself, Metro is real generous with guest passes, and the sales staff doesn't hassle you.

The previous poster is out of touch with what rates "should be" . . .even the YMCA charges 59.00 a month.

She also stated that you'll feel out of place at Metro if you aren't "anorexic". That's a pretty sweeping statement for someone who visited ONCE. As a member who is more than 70 pounds over my ideal weight, I can tell you that the staff and members at Metro have been nothing but supportive and friendly. Her statement seems to have come from some sort of personal insecurity rather than reality.

Things she failed to mention. For your membership fee you get the latest equipment, class options including yoda, spinning, aerobics etc . . .There is an in house pilates studios and private lessons are available. The facility is always spotlessly clean and toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. are provided. They also have a dress code and code of conduct that effectively eliminate that "unwanted element" that you'll find at most gyms.

Also there is a reson Metro was voted as the best several years in a row. Comparing Metro with Gold's, World Gym or Hogans is like comapring caviar to spam.

To join Metro, it is $69.00 per month for a year contract and $89.00 a month for a monthly contract.

For such exhorboriant prices, you would think the classes would be scheduled around work schedules. I decided not to join the gym because they had some morning and evening classes but they were not consistently offered. For example: Kickboxing would be on Monday and then wouldn't occur again until Saturday.

Anyway, the facility is superb, the exercise floor absorbs shock and pounding which is a definitely plus. Also, the facility has an indoor track.

If they would lower their membership rates based upon the following:

Y - $45.00
Hogan's - $27.00
World's Gym - $15.00

I definitely would have joined, that shock absorbant floor would be worth it.

I understand Metro wants to be the high end facility, therefore, I think they should lower their rate to $50.00.

I am pretty sure they will not lower the rate because they only want the upper echelon of Montgomery society. Also, if you are not super skinny already, you are going to feel out of place at Metro. Most of the exercisers looked anorexic.

Edited to add (response to the review about my review): A single membership at the Y is $45.00 per month not $59.00. As to the rest of the review, it speaks exactly to the attitude reflected at metro (upper echelon).
