For the Japanese thing - it is neat, but nothing different than other Japanese style restaurants where they cook the food in front of you. I generally get diarrhea after eating. I also tried the lobster once - definitely do not recommend it (grilled lobster is not the way to eat lobster). Good place to go with friends, as the wait usually isn't that bad, if at all. I'd recommend sticking with the chicken & steak with fried rice.

Mikata is the place to go in the Auburn-Opelika area for Japanese family-style dining. The chefs are great and perform tricks to keep you enterntained while they cook in front of you. If you call ahead, they will reserve rooms for parties and gatherings.

mikata is a nice place for celebration family occasions. the atmosphere, the way we sit around the plate is very nice and original. the quality of food is great, surley all this is included in the price.

Mikata Japanese Steak House, is with no doubt the best Japanese restaurant in the Auburn/Opelika Area. The Atmosphere inside is really calm, you can enjoy the best meals prepared with a fantastic show at your own table, from great chefs, or you can enjoy a drink and sushi at the bar. Great Place, average meal $15-$20.
