We did not meet Dr. Elaine Moore and the staff of North Alabama Cat & Bird Clinic until 11/10. Our precious BabyKat was already sick. One morning we got up and she wasn't walking on her back paws but flat footed. She was an inside cat so we knew nothing could have hurt her. We took her to her vet he did blood work and X-rays and thought she had some lesions at the tip of her spine that had caused nerve damage. He was not sure exactly what was going on.We deceided to get a second opinion and chose North Alabama Cat and Bird Clinic in Hartselle. Dr. Moore was so nice to BabyKat and us. She treated her like she was a little person and treated us like you would a little child's parents so very kind. She talked to her and comforted her. She looked at the X-Ray and told us BabyKat had a slipped disc in the middle of her back that had damaged nerves in spinal column. She was unable to have bowel movements and urinate on her own.Dr. Moore told us she might recover it would be a long process and she might or might not get back all her functions since she was 15 years old and how severe the damage was.She prescribed a medicine to help with the bowel movements and showed me how to express the bladder. Babykat did improve some and her back was much better. We visited Dr. Moore often. She and the staff were always so nice and always put the care of Babykat first. It was not meant to be for BabyKat to be able to stay with us anylonger. She got pneumonia and wasn't strong enough to get over it. Dr. Moore stood by us helping BabyKat and us through the end the hardest thing we have had to go through we miss her so much she was our little angel. She gave us some very precious weeks with our precious angel and we will always be grateful to her for that.BabyKat's well being was always what she put first. She always treated Babykat and our family with so much care, kindness, concern and compassion. If Dr. Moore were a M.D.I would certainly feel priviledged to have her for my Dr.I would trust her with the life of any pet or my own life. I urge you if you have a pet that you want treated with the best of care, kindnes and compassion check out the North Alabama Cat and Bird Clinic.

Dr. Strother saved the life of my kitty cat Brutus. He was shot by a neighbor with a bb gun, had to stay in the hospital for several weeks, then had to spend some time with Dr. Newman in Decatur, but recovered because of their determination and excellent care. Yes, it was expensive, but you pay for what you get--and I got the BEST!!! Brutus and I thank God they were there when we needed them. Brutus had a severe urinary tract infection a few months ago and again got the very best of care. If you want the best then I would highly recommend this clinic. PEGGY COMBS

We have used Dr. Moore for many years and let me tell you her compassion and expertise is beyond any other vet I have ever used. We had to euthanize my husbands precious ferret years ago and Dr. Moore shed tears right along with us. They love our Danes and the staff is ALWAYS friendly and courteous. We live in South Alabama and have taken our ferrets to her when they were ill, driving 5 hours to drop off our furbabies. They bend over backwards to allow us to pick up our animals on a Sunday when they weren't even open and have made room to board our dogs on a Christmas Holiday when my father-in-law passed. I highly recommend this clinic.

Yes, it's a nice facility. Very pretty architecture and interior (read: very expensive), so they pass that cost on to their customers I guess. The practice owner Dr. Jan Strothers is very nice and very compassionate, but I noticed that the quality of care offered there declined sharply after Dr. Armes left a few years ago and moved on to greener pastures. (I later did, too.) I never liked Dr. Moore, who I believe is still there. She has the personality of a wet rug, and even though she has been in practice for a long time, it seems like she has to check with Dr. Jan on everything. She also made a horrible mistake in diagnosing and treating my brother's bird and my neighbor's cat. I never trusted her with my own pets. I used to like going there, but don't anymore. Trust me, there are better clinics out there.

While the NA Cat and Bird Clinic may be more expensive than most, if you have a seriously ill pet you DO get your money's worth. Their state of the art equipment and knowledge are well worth a little extra expense. If you are taking an animal for just routine care and think of it as "just an animal" then a cheaper facility will do. But if you think of your pet as a member of the family, this is a great place. I have always found the front office staff competent, considerate and compassionate. Plus you see the same faces year after year - a sign of a good place to work.

The reception staff acts a bit pretentious and don't like when you ask too many questions, it seems. Not very warm at all. The vet's themself are nice, but that won't keep someone coming back because the front staff may leave a bad taste in your mouth first.

The Cat and Bird Veterinary Clinic is a lovely newer clinic in Hartselle. The Vet is very nice and knowledgable. However, their prices are much higher than some other vets in town and the care doesn't seem to be any better or really any different. We did notice that they sell a lot of products and really seem to push them. Their care also seems designed to keep you coming back for maintenance. Their whole way of doing business for pets seems to revolve around this and the frills. We have found good reasonable care for our pets at more reasonable expense at other less "flashy" vet offices.
