Reviews for Cammie's Old Dutch Ice Cream

Ratings_icons Cammie's Old Dutch Ice Cream is bad.

I just visited the ice Cream Shoppe with my son, I had visited this place regularly 10 - 15 years ago. It has changed a lot since then, unfortunately, for the worse. The waitress obviously did not want to be there and she didn't want us there either, or maybe customers in general, since we were the only ones there. When I first drove up I thought it was closed, this was at 7:00 pm on a Thursday night. The waitress only grunted at us when we placed our order and grunted again when she brought the sundaes.Unless major changes are made, I'm afraid the shoppe will be out of business in the next few months. It is sad, this was a pleasant place years ago. Being in midtown they could have a very loyal following. We had eaten at Dew Drop Inn prior to deciding to get some ice cream, the Dew Drop was crowded as usual with loyal MiMo people.

This place has been around Mobile for a long long time but it's still the best! Everyone should take the drive down Old Shell Road to check it out!!!!

This ice cream shop has been a Mobile tradition for years. It is a much beloved landmark. The atmosphere is so quaint. The shop is decorated with a dutch flair and looks pretty much the same as it did when it opened in the 1970s. It's such a tradition that the owner has been very adamant about not making big changes. The ice cream is out of this world. The recipe for the basic flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, etc. belong to Old Dutch and taste wonderful! You will not find this ice cream anywhere else in the world. They make the best banana splits and sundaes. We wouldn't go to a chain ice cream shop for anything!

PROS: Old soda fountain atmosphere. Great ice cream.
CONS: NONE!!!
