Government St United Methodist

I was curious at first about the beautiful church building standing on the corner of Government and Broad Streets. Curiosity brought me in the door but it is the warmth and hospitality that made me keep coming back to worship. Definitely not a "shopping mall" church that has thousands of activities for everybody. There are plenty of those! Want a church where you will be loved, where you can make a difference? then check this one out. The Bee Hive, as they affectionately call call it, is a church for the sincere and serious. Don't think that I am saying that this is a church for theologians or the hardcore. This is a church for Anybody who is sincere in their search to know Jesus. Many are new to the faith or have just recently reconnected to the "church thing" after being out of it for years.

Not a Sunday only church. Small but growing ministry with kids. Nice crop of young adults along with middle adults and the "vintage" set. Like a multi-generational family that enjoys being together. No dress code for worship. Heavy involvement in missions & serving others considering the small membership and limited resources. (They host visiting mission teams doing Katrina work, etc.) I was even surprised to find out that there is a small group that meets on Sunday afternoons to pray and study the Bible in French. They are all from different countries but they all speak French. Way cool!

This church isn't what I was expecting but it is just what I needed! I've never worked so hard (at making a difference) or enjoyed giving 210% of myself to something. Not a place for the half-hearted.
