Visit on the Web Get Directions PhotosI brought my dying chihauhau to this poor excuse of an after hours emergency vet at approx 10:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. After waiting well over an hour and a half the doctor finally sees me. She tells me she wants to run some tests and possible treatments and that a someone would be in shortly to give me an "estimate". When a brunette lady came in to do this, the charges were a little confusing; I had questions. Apparently I had too many questions, at this point I was very calm (other than worried about my baby) and the lady YELLED at me to "shut up!" I was in shock, but still kept my cool and requested to speak with someone else. This is when Melanie came in, who was very kind, compassionate and understanding as I would think they all would be, this was not the case. After having a better understanding of the charges, I went outside to explain them to my wife and also told her about the lady yelling at me. My wife, who is scared for her baby, heartbroken, stressed financially over trying to save our baby, and now angry at the treatment I have received goes in to get our baby so we can take her elsewhere. She is met by a "feminine sounding fellow" who has absolutely no tact, compassion, or understanding who greets her with nothing but attitude. This guy does not need to deal with grieving people at all! Now, there is no sugar coating it, at this point my wife and I are verbally abusive back. 2 1/2 hours after our arrival we take our dying baby outside. We calm down some and decide her best chance is to get care ASAP. We decide to overlook the way we have been treated and return inside and agree to the charges. They refused to treat my dying dog! Because we snapped back at them and didn't just "accept" their horrible attitude while we are scared to death for our baby. The guy and lady that we encountered there (excluding Melanie) SHOULD NOT work with people directly. Especially not frightened grieving ones scared for their babies life. Now, we went straight to the late clinic in Maumelle. They were exceptionally nice and understanding, got right to our baby, and I am certain saved my babies life; not to mention less expensive. If you have an emergency with your baby, do everything you can to make it to Maumelle.
I took my boxer here after he showed signs of having problems breathing. This place showed no caring or consideration for me or my 6 month old puppy!! After keeping him for 2 weeks and milking me for over $2500 they told me I should put him to sleep. They repeated this to me 6 times. I couldn't bring myself to do it and took him to a vet in my home town. The vet took a look and told me this dog is not ready to go!! He spent the afternoon at the vet and when I picked him him the doctor handed me 12 pills and a bill for $35 dollars and said this should do it!! My dog started showing signs of recovery all most right away!! The after hours clinic is only interested in how much money they can get from you!! My boxer has never been the same since having to go there he is very skitish and scared of everything now. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE UNLESS YOU HAVE A LARGE CHECK ACCOUNT!!! They run useless test or at least they say they run test and charge over the top.....you will need a bank loan for these people and they will NOT HELP YOUR PET!! FORCED TO GIVE ONE STAR!! If you make the mistake of going to this place DO NOT LET THE REFER YOU TO VET ACROSS THE STREET!! IT IS DR HUNTERS WIFES CLINIC AND IT'S JUST ROUND TWO OF THE MONEY HUNTERS!!
Rating Dr. Hunter with a full star is given him more than I would like to give, but the system is making me rate at least one star.
My pregnant Yorkie had been in labor for 2 hours before arriving at Dr. Hunter's clinic and I wasted another 2 hours at his inadequate clinic, before leaving and going to the Pulaski Veterinary Emer Clinic off Maumelle Blvd.
He & his staff are rude, heartless, and the most unprofessional group of inidividuals I have ever encountered. Dr. Hunter has clearly forgotten his heart in the profession he is within, and should retire or think about a career change.
He would not perform an emer c-section on my Yorkie, he said he would do it when 'she' (the dog) was ready which would be 1 to 2 hours. However, the x-rays clearly showed all three puppies were breeched and one puppy was VERY large. My Yorkie was vomiting and was very tired from pushing, she vomitied in his presence and I caught it in my hands. When I asked Dr. Hunter for a sink, he gave me a single dry piece of paper towel, no sink, no soap, no anti-bacterial wash or even a garbage can. Since Dr. Hunter was not going to see to my dog for another hour or two, we left.
Ten minutes after we left and was enroute to the Pulaski Vet Emer Clinic off Maumelle Blvd a sack and a puppy was visible and protruding. I called the Pulaski Vet and let them know the situation, when we got there, they took my Yorkie straight back and started to work on her immediately. Dr. Ray said there was no way my Yorkie could have delivered the VERY large puppy naturally, that a c-section was essential and immediate.
Dr. Hunter also sent me a note saying I was no longer welcome at his clinic ever again. Hummm...let me think...will I ever take any of my babies back to his inadequate clinic...NO.
Oh, and in his post discharge notes, he left out some details such as his insistance that he would do the surgery in one or two hours whenever my dog was ready, he also failed to mention that she was vomiting and dehydrating.
My dog was being treated for heartworms by our regular vet, but one night when I got home from work, he was looking very bloated. I took him to the After Hours Animal Hospital, and they were very thorough in checking him over. Although they were not able to save him, they gave me every option possible for him and were very caring and understanding. Their supportive attitude helped me through a time that was very difficult.
A great place to take your animals if you have an odd work schedule, too!
Our family has used this clinic for two afterhour emergencies and I would highly recommend them to anyone! Their understanding and dedication was commendable ! I would recommend them highly!
