To whom it may concern:

L.J. and Denise McCreary of McCreary Homes soon to be called McCreary Dream Homes have to be the absolute worst custom home or home building construction company ever. This despicable company built us a defective home, defrauded us, used corruption tactics with secret kick back referrals payments to Fran Epsen of LONG Realty, deception, lies and overcharged us by $78,000 dollars in fictitious charges. Two months after we moved were provided, as best described as a Fantasy/Fraud booklet of additional charges by L.J. McCreary. I had found out later that McCreary had done this same technique earlier to another client that had also had similar construction problems.

The day our construction loan ended L. J. McCreary had said that we had been on budget, but two months later we were now $78,000.00 dollars over budget. The home was built with evidently authorized illegal alien sub-contractors to work on a custom home project while they drank beer and smoked pot while unsupervised. One sub-contractor that McCreary Home hired was even an unlicensed contractor that L.J. McCreary hired, but later could not find his license and than tried to pawn this contractor off on us so that he did not have to pay him with funds that were supplied from our construction loan. This hiring of unlicensed contractors was against state law.

We contracted with the McCreary??s to build us a custom home in August 1999 and then moved into the unfinished project on 19 August 2000; the third time we were given a revised date for a late move in date. There were only two lights in the entire home that night while we were still moving in. Thank God for full moons. The home build turned out to be a certified disaster which L.J. McCreary was refusing to fix. Seven separate Registrar of contractor complaints were filed against McCreary Homes (3) and one each for Terra Cotta Framing, Arizona Designs Kitchen and Baths, Andros Refrigeration and the McNary Company (Concrete). Separate complaints were filed against these subs since L.J. McCreary had told them to not fix their defects and mistakes.

A total of 222 defects were listed with the Registrar of Contractors and McCreary refused to fix the vast majority of the defects. Inferior wood charged at superior wood prices were substituted on a great room ceiling and master bedroom floor. There was water infiltration through garage walls and into the garage floor because of an incorrectly poured, negative slope floor and it was never fixed. The kitchen island was dangerously unstable and it was eventually replaced. A heat pump was put up on the roof that had been damaged already in the box and we were never told by McCreary of this fact. The great room ceiling was sagging and had to be replaced. There were so many items that I cannot list all of them. Please see our websites address at the bottom of the page.

McCreary sued us for the last 10% of the construction loan although he never addressed or fixed all of the defects including the water infiltration that was occurring throughout the garage and garage walls. Because of the incredible cost of litigation we were eventually forced to give the home up to foreclosure. My wife and three children were now left to be renters and we have been renters for over five years now because of the devastation to our credit rating and finances. The home sold over a year later for a price
that was one-third of its appraised value of over $850,000.00 dollar if it had been built correctly. We had tried to have a real estate company sell the home but agent said that there were still too many defects to put the home on the market.

Shortly after we let the house go in February 2003, my wife sat one day on the bedroom floor with a loaded gun and for fifteen minute contemplate her fate because of the pain that L.J. and Denise McCreary and their SAHBA lawyers, Marc Simon, William Poorten III and Elizabeth Claiborne. Thank God she chose to put the gun away.

Please see our websites for more information and spread the word about this terrible company and its two owners in Tucson, Arizona that are lying like snakes to attack their next victim and ruin their family??s futures. McCreary Dream Homes is pure poison to a man that has a family and is considering building a home. I could have never imagined that people in this state could be so corrupt.
