El Paso Bar-B-Que Co

We were on our way back from Catalina State Park and stopped to eat. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The food was good especially the beef. Service was good too.

Hailing from the Kansas City metro area I am spoiled when it comes to BBQ. Although the state of Texas has long been synonymous with BBQ, having lived in Texas for two-years let me tell you it is not.

I am happy to report that the El Paso BBQ Company is not synonymous with actual Texas BBQ but it certainly is synonymous with the myth about Texas BBQ.

Even though it's a chain restaurant, we love to go to El Paso. Starting with the delicious aroma floating over all the neighboring stores, down to the huge take-home boxes we always seem to leave with, we are always very satisfied with whatever we order. My favorite is the grilled salmon, served with a huge pile of the best mashed potatoes in the world. I'd be in trouble if I could figure out how to duplicate these at home! My daughter loves the deep fried onion pile and even though I always swear we don't need all those extra calories, we never seem to be able to resist. We end up eating the appetizer and picking at the entree, because we also can't resist ordering desert. Again, everthing on the dessert menu is fantastic - and that's why we take home full boxes to keep us happy the next day!

PROS: Yummy!
CONS: Lovely patios are wasted most of the year as our weather is too hot/cold.
