Golba Group Property Mgmt

This company has a clear pattern of ripping people off for their security deposits- you will have to fight them in court if you want your money back (even if you leave the home in perfect condition!)
It was a beautiful thing when we went to court (and we won, of course!) and I got to watch the judge rip the Golba Group's loser representative right in front of my own eyes! They scour the trailer parks for the lowest of the low and hire the most devious, uneducated, unscrupulous fools to do their dirty work, while the owners play "Mr. Nice Guy" and act like they can't believe they are ripping you off!
Please don't make the mistake of entrusting these scam artists with your money- read up on them on the BBB, ripoff report and this very site and see for yourself.

The Golba Group and Landmark Maintenance, Do Not Use! I recently rented a home from The Golba Group, and they literally stole my security deposit. The house was left clean and actually several improvements were made, by me. After I moved out, they notified me that I owed $310.00 for a couple shrubs to be trimmed, $280.00 for them to wipe down 1 wall that they claim had some dirt on it, and they charged me $146.00 to replace a door that was broken when I moved in. (There were some light bulbs that legitimatly needed replacing, toilet flapper that was broken and a small amount of trash to be hauled away) the prices quoted for these items are not in dispute and are fine but for the landscape, and wall wiping, These prices are Absurdly high! I was told by The Golba Group that these are the quotes that they received from Landmark Maintenance, the only company they use. Then come to find out, Landmark Maintenance is owned by James Golba and the officers of both companies are the same. When a supervisor with Golba Group was confronted with this, he told us that yes the charges were padded, but we could never prove anything. He claimed that they are 'tight with the courts' and would never win any claim. In addition when confronted about the door that was broken upon move in, they wanted to see my copy of the move in walk through report. They refused to do a joint move in walk through and they refused a joint move out walk through. They demanded that I fax my copy over to them, and when I demanded that they fax me their copy, they stated it was lost.
For all of you people out there looking for a prop. management company to handle your rental, WATCH OUT!! They stated that they are not responsible for any of these claims or issues that come up and if there is a problem, a supervisor with the Golba Group told me directly to 'Sue the Property Owner'!
So potential tenants and property owners beware... For those of you out there that have had your security deposit 'disappear' or have been overcharged for cleaning, painting, etc., now you know why. Golba Group is taking your deposit one way or another and by using Landmark as their only maintenance company, it sure makes it easy to go with the highest quote! If you want to verify that both companies are owned by the Golbas, go the the Arizona Secretary of State web site and look under Businesses, Business Registration and then Trade Names. It will list the owners names and Officers.
Last note, With the exception of one person over at Golba, Jennifer, the rest of the staff have the absolute worst attitudes you could even imagine. Once you sign a lease, you are treated like dirt. If you are a tenant and having trouble getting a prop. mgr to answer your calls, just hit option #1 (option to speak to someone about them managing a rental property) and then they answer immed. But if you are a tenant and trying to reach your prop. mgr, they basically never answer.
Check out all the complaints online about The Golba Group. Most have to do with being overcharged for move out repairs. In addition, check out their Better Business Bureau report, they have an F rating.

golba group allowed owners of a home i rented, to take out all light fixutres and leave house ugly looking and did not disclose any of it. then they talked me into paying 2 extra deposits because of my credit being bad, when it was totaly not even close to affordable. Moved out after one month of their rudeness and games, and now i owe them 9000 on my credit, which they are sueing me for. and not to mention the home owners also put a judgment on me for 2500 and they kept my 1500 deposit. , as well...................... wow... really what i can say is, they showed me the house i thought i rented, then on key day, i got a differant house. They discriminated against my financial standpoint, and took advantage of the situation... stupid for me i fell for it, and agreed to pay so much more in deposits.. the part that really gets me is , to put a collect on me, for 9000 which im guessing was the intire lease that i didnt fulfil. and then the home owners put a judgment on me as well for another 2500. that sounds a little crazy to me. ok for the judgement i guess, but come on keep my dep. and sue me for the whole years rent.... not to mention, they dont answer their phones, and have the worst customer service ever.... I wish there was a class action case going, causes i would be in , in a heartbeat... I am still thinking of hiring a lawyer.... cause they really messed us up good. run from them, is all i can tell you.

ITS A TRAP!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THESE GUYS!!! Golba Group is HORRIBLE to rent from! These guys are totally unprofessional, when you actually get to speak to someone they are rude and short with you if you have already signed your lease. WHERE TO START?? 1. when we moved in the house had not been cleaned properly, the carpet was dirty, the oven had not been cleaned, there was trash, weeds and dog poop in the backyard, all of which we were promised would be taken care of prior to moving in. I had to clean grease and grime and who knows what else out of that oven -- GROSS!!!! Not to mention the dog poop in the backyard, DOUBLE GROSS!!! But our nightmares didnt end when I moved in, I WAS CHARGED $1800 FOR TOUCH UP PAINT UPON MOVE OUT!!!! They never notified me of outstanding charges and refuse to validate their claim for $1800 freaking dollars for said "touch up paint"....I dont know about you but I could have repainted the entire freggin house (which, I maintain, was absolutely not necessary) inside and out for $1800, and they are saying this charge is for "Touch up paint"?!?!? I asked them to look into the situation to see if there may have been an additional "0" added to the balance on accident, I can see charging $180 for touch up paint but $1800? They refused to look into it since they said I had 30 days to "fight" the outstanding charge, they had 14 business days to send me a list of items I was being charged for. They had my new address, my phone number, and even my parents contact information. I never received ANY NOTICE and I never knew about this balance until 8 months later when I got a letter from a collection agency for $1800. Golba Group refuses to return my phone calls/emails (surprising) and I am trying to resolve the issue before I move out of state and they are just un-cooperatve. THANKS FOR RUINING MY CREDIT!!!!! Horrible, unprofessional, rip off artists.

As a previous tenant of the Golba Group, I am thrilled to have found somewhere to vent my frustrations about this company. I had a horrible experience renting from the Golba Group and have put the word out to other renters in the valley to steer clear of them. They caused drastic problems for me and my family and never kept their word on any promises about the property we rented. They then billed us for outrageous things upon move out that weren't even valid. I can only imagine what they are charging their owners and collecting from tenants. What a joke. However, I know that they had a few good agents working for them at some point or another. Thankfully, I was able to find them (look up their name on Craigslist or Google). Good luck...

Rented from them for a full year. NEVER return phone calls. If there were problems, it took about 6 phone calls to receive any acknowledgement. Received no notice about move-out instructions. They lied to us about move-out inspections. When we demanded to be there they never contacted us and then assessed us over $800 in charges. When asked for explanations to charges, never returned calls. Did not inform us for a full calendar year (in our last month of lease) that we were paying the wrong rental amount and were $30 short per month, resulting in over $300 to pay in December. Though they took partial payment, breaking their own lease agreement, they still are holding us responsible. Letters say to send things to them, verbally they tell us to send items to the owner whom we were not allowed to contact for any reason while renting. Constant contradictions. Best quote ever: "We are McDonald's and your rental is like the hamburger. We know what we're doing. There were over 150 move outs last month and yours is the only one we are having troubles with." NEVER rent through this company!!! They are screwing us, and the owner of the property out of money. Unprofessional and unethical.

As a current client of The Golba Group I want to personally thank them for finding us another home. The house we were renting went into foreclosure. The Golba Group worked very hard and helped us relocate. It was a difficult situation for us to be stuck in but a smooth transition on the Golba Groups part. Thanks again

I just recently rented a home from the Golba Group, great customer service and friendly employees. I had a issue with my water heater a few weeks after moving in and it was fixed within 24 hours. Thumbs up to them! I would recommend them to everyone!

I am horrified by this company. I am an owner who is now locked into a useless contract for a year. They are unethical, and find sneaky ways to take your money. They DO NOT call people back and charge owners left and right for things not mentioned in the contract. I have been in management since July and my home has only been rented for three months. Even though it is now rented, I still have not gotten a full check! I will tell everyone I know how miserable I am!

I was once a tenant at the Golba Group and they did a good job taking care of my concerns and gave me a great home to live in. Now, as an investor, I bought a home about 2 years and have used Golba ever since to manage my investment property. They have always been honest and have responded to my concerns in a reasonable amount of time. Don't get me wrong, we have had some ups and downs, but I realize this is an investment and in today's market, that is going to happen. I would suggest this company to anyone! THE BEST

My first time out of my parents house. I laid down a 1500 deposit and am still renting. There was no walk through, the house is in horrible condition although the ad says it is in prestine condition. The a/c and dishwasher do not work, appliances are rusty old and ready to e replaced. The showers are covered with "already made showers that you just plug into your old shower" Everything sucks and I am in the negative because of the Golba Group. I will never give any business to them again.

Any one interested in filing a class action law suit against this company? This is the most un- ethical group I have ever experienced. They mis represent the real estate industry and should be closed down. These people are ripping off innocent people that are simply searching for a home. I will continue my persuit for justice and hope to put a few people in the barrel.

We had the misfortune of renting a home that was semi-managed by the Golba Group. They set up our lease and put us in the property, however, they did not handle anything else until our lease was up and we decided to move (didn't like the home or the area).

They have been rude, unprofessional and are now trying to keep our security deposit even though the home was left in SPOTLESS condition. This is clearly a pattern with them if you research their history on other complaint sites.

Aside from that, through my own research as a prospective tenant, this company does a poor job marketing and managing properties. In our community, homes for lease by the Golba Group sit unrented for MONTHS, while homes listed with other companies seem to fly off the market. If I owned a home that I was considering leasing, I would rather entrust a toddler with my property management needs than the people working at the Golba Group.

I haven't a positive thing to say about anyone or anything in this company. What a terrible experience!

I am an owner who recently used the Golba Group to manage my property. My tenant had informed me that she was not getting her calls returned. At the end of the lease, a final walk through wasnt scheduled. After telling me they couldnt reach the tenant, they offered to post a notice on the door and I agreed. It wasnt posted and they showed up one day and told the tenant they were doing the walk through. I was charged $45 for the walk through after being told it was free. They told me the house was ok and also did not notice visible pet stains in a few rooms. I was also told my keys and a check taken from the security deposit for carpet cleaning had already been mailed. The check wasnt sent and I told them my mother would be coming into their office to pick up the check. I was told the check would be ready but it was not ready and I still have not received my house keys in the mail. I contacted their accountant and she told me the charge for the walk through would not be refunded and hung up on me. I had my mother ask to speak with the owner and she was harassed by other employees in the lobby. They lied to her saying no owners were there and after her persistence by finding out that they were there, she was confronted by the main owner who told her to leave and would not speak with her. Unfortunately my mother was involved and she was treated maliciously to get the check that was due to me. I hope other owners and tenants will see how the Golba Group operates.

Presently I am living in a property manage by Golba, and for reasons i am trying to call them for last three days, I am getting voice mail what ever time i call and no one bother to call me back. I think this is worst customer serivice , any company can ever provide.

We recently moved from CO to AZ and needed to find a rental house. We stopped in the Golba office and from that moment on felt as if we were putting them out by asking them to do their job in helping us.
My only recommendation would be to call and set up an appointment first, although their website said it was unneccessary.

My brother and I recently moved from California. We desperately needed to find a rental home and continued to strike out. That is until we found GOLBA Realty. They had amazing resources and very friendly consultants. Our consultant knew exactly what we were seeking and couldn't have found us a more perfect home to rent. We are so pleased and GOLBA made it easy, fast, and pain-free.
