Ratings_icons Rude staff, billing disputes, lousy customer service

Sterling H.

After my one hour hospital stay where I was left unattended for 75% of the time, I was sent home. I got my hospital bill in the mail. The bargain price for this wonderful treatment was $1400, after insurance of course. I had asked in writing to receive financial assistance, and I sent these requests with good faith payments. And they still contacted a collections agency. The damning demands they sent weren't even signed (do they look at what they send people anymore?) I also found out that they got incorrect insurance information from my primary care physician (why not contact me?) When I finally contacted a guy about the situation, he bluntly told me that there was nothing he could do at that point, and that I was screwed. Ah, but no. The time has come where we as Americans stand up against these overpaid baboons and their corresponding patient relations. Enjoy your lawsuit, Banner "Good Samaritans"!

I think the experience is ok for the average person...however, I do not believe in blood transfusion for any reason. Their resident dr, Dr. Travis Bilanzich, DO, spoke down to me when I told him I would not accept it if I needed one. He spoke down to me for 20 minutes and when I told the person in charge of HIM, the person defended him and did not even listen to WHY I was complaining.
The nurses on duty defended Dr. Travis Bilanzich, DO and were very rude to me, especially ELIZABETH, who repeatedly tried to force me to take Ambien sleeping pills so she didn't have to help me with anything.
I don't mind that he had to explain the reasons they give transfusions or that he had to get my written consent. My complaint was that I had said no several times while I was under the influence of the drugs they gave me. I told them I didn't want any more anti-biotics because it was making me sick and they gave them to me any way. Then Dr. Travis Bilanzich, DO proceeded to tell me that if I didn't like it, I could just leave.
I filed a formal complaint with that hospital and they twisted my words writing "patient did not understand what the dr. was saying and had to be told several times."
On top of that, this was during a pregnancy. When I had my babies, they contracted an antibiotic resistant infection called MRSA. They are one now and are suffering thanks to the poor quality at Banner Good Samaritan. I know that they got the infection there because other people I know got the same infection during the same time I went into labor.
All of these people in question are caucasian and I am African American. None of these people share my religion. There was a lot of prejudice against who I am and what I believe in and just all round poor treatment.
Hospitals take advantage when they think you are under the influence of their meds.
After I had the baby, the nurses were gossiping about the experience I had with the dr. while I was still pregnant. That is how I know I wasn't imagining things. They all smiled in my face when I walked out of the room and acted like everything was fine and they were doing nothing. I had given a gift to both nurses, regardless of how they treated me and guess what, I found it in the trash.
I hope I never have to go back there or see that man again unless he is REPENTANT for how he treated me.

I had such a great experience at Banner when I had my two children. The nurses in delivery took special care of my needs and of my children when they were first born. The best thing was that the babies got to stay with us in the room and never left us. If the nurses or doctors needed anything with our babies or with me, they came to the room and our business was done there. The delivery of my two children was a great experience because of the staff in labor and delivery and I would recommend this hospital to anyone who is pregnant and trying to determine where to deliver,

I am a kidney transplant patient, I was reccomended to this place all the way from Akron, Ohio.
I few years ago I had major problems getting my very expensive immnosupressents. I am a Medicare patient, with no other insurances. Well to make a long/sad story short I has the fotunistic oppertunity to run into one of their Transplant Social Workers, by the name of Julie LaMantia. I'm telling you, this woman can work magic when it comes to getting people the meds they need. And she will keep checking up on you to see that you got your meds, then she will try to make it easier to get help if you happen to run into a problem again. I highly reccomend this place to people who need help with post transplant help.
