bringing people together through coffee  5 Star Rating - World class

I love Mama Javas. The whole crew is great, Lisa, Matt, Bethany, everybody. They make incredible espresso drinks, and it seems that everyone there really loves what they do. It's the Cafe with a Politically outspoken reputation as well, and I love that you can say what's on your mind. The regulars are great, the staff is great, the neighborhood is pretty cool, and the view of Camelback mountain isn't bad either. It's in a great spot, being that you are so close to downtown phoenix and Scottsdale as well. Another cool little point is you can get a bunch of yesterdays still good bagels in a big bag for like a dollar or so, good deal. I miss this cafe, I haven't been there in so long.

A Fine Bohemian Coffee House in the Desert Southwest!  5 Star Rating - World class

Best coffee house in Phoenix. Great coffee, art, live music often (in the evening). About when I was tiring of the uptight crowd at the Orange Mama Java's arrived on the scene. The proprietor, Lisa, her family & friends make this place what it is. With Mama Java's nearby it is indeed a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Honestly, if I'd had the option I'd have given it only 4 1/2 stars. This is only because they could benefit from a fuller menu. As a coffee house, Mama Java's can't be beaten locally.

One more thing: despite what the other review says, the location is at 36th Street and Indian School Rd, not 44th Street.

Quaint Coffee shop tucked away in plaza  4 Star Rating - Very good

Mama Javas was a great arbitrary find. Located on the corner of 44th and Indian school, it's difficult to spot it on the flyby, but it is definitely worth the extra effort to pay a visit. I ordered an Iced Chai with soymilk and it was excellent. My friend had the best cup of French Vanilla Coffee he's had as long as he could remember. The decor is homey and comforting, and the crowd is older and endearingly sweet. There is often live entertainment which completes the earthy atmosphere and sweet poetic renditions leave a good feeling in everyone around. The prices are a deal and I highly recommend this place for the person who wants to relax with his drink. There is also wi-fi but it isn't too reliable.

PROS: inexpensive, good atmosphere
CONS: shakey wireless
