Do not buy here! My wife and I impulse bought a $2,000 sectional sofa on October 25. We were told it was out of stock, but would arrive in 7-10 days "probably less". Today is November 18. I had to threaten to cancel to get any of it delivered a week ago. Suposedly they get bits of this complete set at a time. I'm still waiting for the last part. It was supposed to be delivered today, since it arrived at the store yesterday. After a month of waiting, I was put at the bottom of the priority list. When I complained, I was informed that since I was asking for next-day delivery, they couldn't promise what time it would be delivered. How, exactly, waiting for a month constitutes next-day delivery, I have no idea. I did get a call at 5 pm with the wonderful news it would be delivered sometime between 8:30 and 10:30! Lucky me! This despite the fact that my earlier calls told me that it had been on the truck since at least 3 pm! Of course, that delivery time is inconvenient. I told them so and said to deliver it in the morning. "Um, well, I'll put it in the notes, but, duh, I don't know!" Useless. I called the store and spoke to Adam, the "sales manager". He was useless and basically told me things get delivered whent hey feel like it, too bad if you've been waiting. He expressed no interest in sorting things out. Now, as you look at these reviews, you will see responses from Dave. He is the customer service manager. He doesn't care either. I contacted him by e-mail and he again fixated on the "next-day delivery". I really don't understand how waiting for two weeks after the promised delivery date makes me guilty of asking for next-day delivery. All I can say is if this is what Sam Levitz thinks of somebody that spends $2,000, I shudder to think how they treat the peasants that spend $500. Circuit City went broke on bad customer service. These clowns won't be far behind. We are moving into a new house next year and plan on buying a fair bit of furniture. We had thought that Sam Levitz would be perfec tfor the price and quality we were looking for. We will find somebody else now. I told Dave of our plans, he didn't care.

I bought a living room package on columbus day sale. Sam levitz is now giving away a 42 inch
tv with the same package. Only it's 700.00 dollars more. That's not very free. that's fraud.

I will agree that the Sales people are too pushy and that delivery can take forever, you also need to take into account that things leaving the store are looked over before they are on the truck, if a driver damages something, they get docked for it.. so dont accept your delivery if you arent happy when it shows up! And for the record, I check the BBB site for sam levitz, and they scored an A+

This store is for people that cannot afford quality furniture. It's like a fast food restaurant - poor quality food at a reasonable price. My husband and I have purchased furniture through Levitz for a long time. The wood on all of our furniture including kitchen table and chairs have worn off over a period of two years. We called customer service and they said it was normal wear and tear. My family takes extra care with our furniture and our house and this cannot be caused from normal wear and tear. As the economy grows deeper into a recession stores like Levitz are going to buy materials that are cheaper to make their products, make them look good, inflate the price and screw the customer. What does it matter to them if under privileged people buy junk to make them richer??
I have experienced poor customer service, ripped cushions, scratched dressers, and wood that wears off to soon.
Thank goodness I am in a position to buy quality furniture now; I hope all reach that point.

My husband and I didn't even buy anything from Sam Levitz and for good reason! Everything we asked about we got the same answer, "This has been discontinued." Well then why the hell do you have it on display?!?! In your main showroom, none the less!?!? The employees knew nothing about any of the products and had to go look it up on the computer while we waited 15-20 minutes each inquiry. We were potential customers, but after that experience.....we will never be customers!

We bought a 6 pc dining room set in November. After 7 months of daily use, a small tacking nail started to work its way up, so that it could be felt through the cushion if you sat down too hard. When it tore through the fabric, I figured we'd have to deal with it- but e-mailed Dave Kirchenberg- the customer service manager listed on the Sam Levitz webpage. 10 minutes later he replied- I'll have someone call you about this within the hour. They phoned 30 minutes later, asked if I'd prefer to exchange just the cushion or the entire chair, and when I could be home to accept a free delivery and exchange in the next several days.
In short, I was impressed that Dave gave his name, picture, e-mail & phone on the website, guaranteed to resolve any issues, and was true to his word. There was no routing my call to India, no hold time, no runaround with the exchange department.

the only reason there are good reviews on here is because the employees must be writing them because i have never had a good experience they never have anything in stock but of course the say when your purchasing it, its in stock until you get home and they call and say it will take 6 weeks. returning items is like stabbing yourself over and over because of how rude and slow they are. the employees are idiots and follow you everywhere. and every piece of furniture that i have ever bought has chipped or broke within 6 months save your money and shop elsewhere it is not worth it

I bought a 3 piece living room set from Sam Levitz Jan 2000. The sofa has 2 recliners, love seat has 2 recliners and a swivel- rocker recliner chair. My husband was in the military in Sierra Vista AZ, at the time. We had a problem with the love seat or the couch one I can't really remember right after it was delivered. They came and took one section back to the store to get it fixed. Then the handle on the chair broke and the service tech came and cut a hole in the chair side and replaced with a completely different handle. Unacceptable, I call the store and talked to a manager. Again they finally came and picked up the chair and took it to replace the side and new handle. We have since moved to Tennessee, and was told that they could not help fix the following problem due to we were outside of their service area. Here is the problem now with the furniture. The chair reclining mechanism is broken along with the handle cable, the love seat has both of the reclining mechanisms are broke and the sofa has one of the reclining mechanisms. I have emailed the customer service manager who told me to get the numbers off the mechanisms and he would send the information to the company. He stated that it would be 4 weeks and the parts would be sent directly to my home. After not hearing from him ( they never respond) I emailed him again, he stated that he would let is assistant, take care of this for me. He also told me that he had sent my emailed information to him and that he had emailed me back (never). I emailed the assistant and he told me that he would look into it. Here is his response to my problem:After carefully reviewing the manufactures warranty from this setthat was bought from Sam Levitz Furniture CO., it has been determined byCustomer Service Department that we are unable to get replacement partsdue to the following reasons. I. The age of purchase. This set was purchase JAN 22 2000.II. There is a five-year limited warranty. If with in 5 years ofpurchase of any of the product we sell, the original purchasershall prove by examination by the Warranter that theconstruction of material of the product is defective underordinary use, we will repair or replace mechanisms at theWarrantors option.III. Mechanisms on all items are past Sam Levitz and Manufactureswarranty.IV. Sam Levitz Furniture CO. is a locally family owned business, andwarranty service is limited to our service area. I then called and told him that the tags that I have off the furniture stated there is a limited life time warranty. He told me that he sent the information for the parts to the company. He then said that the company was out of business. If the company is out of business, how can you sent the information anywhere. He stated that the person ( who they dealt with at that company told them it had gone out of business. I then ask him, if there was another company that the reclining mechanisms could be gotten from, he basically told me no. I ask him in other words I have broken down furniture and Sam Levitz could not and would not help me to get it fixed. He would not answer my question yes or no, until I finally kept on and he said that he had to follow policy and that his company could not help me. I new from the beginning that Sam Levitz would not stand behind their furniture and fix it. I would recommend that if you are looking into buying furniture, pick another company. Also if you are in the military, don't buy from them as they will not service outside of their area.

I went in to buy a patio set, they said they had it in stock. Once I decided to buy a few more items I went to the check out. They told me it was NOT in stock, but it would only take a short while to have it delivered. It took over a MONTH to have it delivered. That is bad business. Shop elsewhere, unless you like headaches and frustration.

I was a loyal employee at Sam Levitz Furniture for 13 years. I worked myself up from salesperson to store manager. Because business was so bad, they cut out one of my sales managers and my security guard. It turned out that my warehouse people were stealing clearance merchandise from me without me knowing. I was so busy handling customer complaints, it was impossible to keep my eye on all operations. One day last May Mr Levitz and Eric Cresson (CFO) came into my office and asked for my keys and fired me. I was totally loyal to this company and was let go without being offered a different position or even severence. My life has been devasted, especially in this economy. The regard for employees is as bad as the regard for the customers.

I went into the Pantano store location on a Saturday and found a sectional couch. I purchased the couch and asked for a next day delivery. Mind you this being a Sunday. They gave me a window for delivery time and they actually kept the window. The crew was prompt and polite and i was pleased with the service. Brian Harper of Tucson, A PLEASED CUSTOMER

I had a saleman named Raymond Omar Nembhard he was the best!!(wonder why he left..hmmm...) This guy came to our home after the first delivery issue (damaged furniture) he must have known about the delivery problems because he brought the new pieces himself and put our bed together and he obviously inspected them because the boxes were open and there was no damage. He did it in his suit and reassured us how valuable he was to us when it came to furniture shopping. I went back to levitz and bought a dresser after he'd left the company and have had four deliveries all bad and the salesman never said thank you or anything. This guy Raymond Omar Nembhard made my experience wonderful he even slipped us 25 dollars when he came to our house and apologized with cards and numerous phone calls. I'll only go back if he's there.

It's been a few years since we shopped at Levitz, but I do remember waiting for months for furniture and when it showed up was scratched. Seeing as how it was our daughter's first post-crib bed, we decided we didn't want to wait another couple months to get a new one. Also the box spring was ripped and the dresser was scratched up. Stay away.

The only one good thing I can say about them, easy parking. Sales reps that are too pushy. As with the other comments here, I have not had one item that I have from them that was not delivered undamaged. The first time I thought it was a fluke, the third time I knew it was the norm. Customer service on any level, including the "Manager" is so poor that it is nonexistent.
I would have to say the worst encounter was a love seat from the Pantano store. The third time that it was sat upon, during a party, it completely collapsed! I made sure that everyone knew where it came from. The rest of the party was filled with various horror stories about this company. I had to return it to the "main store" over 25 minutes away from our home, and the return took over 180 minutes, I ended up just throwing it into their loading dock.
I could go on for more examples, but they (Sam Levitz) are not worth any more of my time, and will NEVER see me in any of the stores ever again. No amount of saving is worth the headache, and embarrassment of this poorly run business. I hope this saves at least one person.

Did you know that Ashley Furniture Store in Sahuarita, Arizona is part of Sam Levitz? It is. If I would have known this, I would have not gone into that store for anything! I have had two terrible experiences with the furniture that I have bought at Sam Levitz before. I promised myself that I would never buy them another piece of furniture. Well, I decided to try Ashley Furniture Store in Sahuarita. I bought a nice leather sofa (caramel color). They delivered a wine-color leather sofa and it had a crooked leg and the right size of the back rest was broken. I called the store and talked to the manager. A week later they came to pick up the sofa and delivered another one. From the living room we got to see the sofa that they were delivering. It was still in the delivery truck and we saw the same problem, crooked leg. They picked up the first sofa and also took the one that they were to deliver. I called the store manager again. He told me to go back to the store and look for another sofa. I did. I found another leather sofa, more expensive and a week later it was delivered, together with a recliner that my husband decided to purchase at this time. Again....the sofa was damaged. The leather had a big hole on the back and it had a big damaged piece of leather on the side about 7 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide. The recliner was lopsided and screws were coming off. I called the manager again. He said he had another sofa in stock and that they would deliver it in about a week and they would pick up the recliner and deliver a new one. The delivery men came a week after and delivered the recliner (with no tags on it) but they said it was new, hopefully it will be ok. The sofa is another story. The delivery man said that the only sofa that they had in stock was also damaged and they couldn't repair it and they did not know when they would get another sofa. I called the manager and asked him to give me my money back. I did get my money back. This really makes me think and believe that they are selling used furniture. Whenever they pick up damaged furniture, they must repair it and re-sell it as new. I'm just waiting to see what happens with the recliner. Who knows?

I hate this store so much. The delivery is terrible! They were supposed to be to my house between 10 and 2 but of course they are not and when i call customer service they just tell me they can't get ahold of the driver. Everything always seems to be out of stock! When my stuff does arrive it's not all there...wtf? Plus, the stuff that does arrive is damaged! My brand new bedroom set i paid $2K for is chipped and scratched?? When the replacement gets here it's chipped too? Aaaahhhh!!! And the sales people in the store stalk you when you are just trying to browse around...even if you tell them to leave you alone. They stand a couple feet behind you and watch you...waiting for the attack. Don't go here if you can avoid it.

I don't know how this placec stays in buisness. Probably because of people like me who don't research until after the fact how bad their service department is. Expect 1-2 months for delivery and if there is anything wrong with it add another 8 months on to fix or replace it.. Don't take my word for it check out Tucson BBB and see how poorly they rate.

I paid over $1500 for a sofa and coffee table on Oct 2nd. One week later on Oct 7th my furniture was delivered. The coffee table was badly scratched and filthy dirty. The sofa had a couch pillow that had a dirty spot on it also. I called Sam Levitz and they told me they were ordering a pillow that day and would redeliver a new coffee table in a week. When the second coffee table arrived it too was scratched and I refused to accept. I called back and was told that they would deliver another one in a week. Finally over 3 weeks after I paid for a new coffee table I got one that was worth keeping. As for my couch cushion, it is Dec 21st and I STILL dont have it. I have called weekly and I am always told that it takes 4-6 weeks to arrive. When I tell them it has been over 10 weeks they still can't help me. I have repeatedly called to speak to a manager and there is never one available when I call. I leave my contact info for them and they never call me back. I have turned them in to the Better Business Bureau so hopefully I will get some results.
PROS: reasonable prices
CONS: Long delivery times, terrible customer service

We love shopping at Sam Levitz. They offer 0% financing for X amount of time. This is a big help for any one who does not have all the money to buy furniture right away. This helps by eliminating the finance charges/interest that would otherwise accrue if they didn't have this promotion. I would recommend paying the furniture off ASAP though... otherwise, why even take advatage of the promotion.
Sam Levitz has mediocre to better quality furnitures. They also have a "Clearance" section where scratch and dent items have been marked down. These items may have holes, rips, or scratches on the furniture. If it's not going to be noticeable in your furniture placement, this might be for you.
The employees tend to be a little too helpful at times, but I guess it's better to have help than no help at all.

Sam Levitz Furniture is conveniently located on the Northeast side. It has a wide variety for furniture and is good for someone who doesn't have a lot of time to shop around. However, the drawback of the store is the salespeople. They act like vultures, following you around the store, even if you tell them you don't want to be bothered.
PROS: Wide variety of furniture
CONS: Annoying salespeople
