cute for kids  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

A cute place. Short hours on the weekends. Definitely check the hours before going, and plan with another activity in Mesa.

Overall, the kids had fun, which was the point of going. Won't take long to see the entire place.

$5 a head for this?  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

Within 5 minutes of entering the CHILDREN'S museum, a woman on staff came over and scolded my son for touching a painting. I know what you're thinking, control your child. Think what you will, my son was very well behaved and simply pointed at the painting and being 3 years old, didn't see the harm in touching what he was pointing at. Many of the paintings had barricades restricting access from little hands, but not all of them.

My point here? IT'S A CHILDREN'S MUSEUM, specifically designed for children 0-4 according to their signage. How do you expect children that age to NOT touch? It's what they do!

For the $15 we spent to get our son, my wife and I in the door, I could have bought reams of construction paper and done arts and crafts in our own house, because apparently that was the big thing to do in the museum. Artville, I will say, was fun for my son and the kids loved it, but it wasn't anything different than one might find in a good day care center.

Overall, I think this museum could be much more than it is, if the curator/staff would think about the exhibits they bring in. For a better experience, and exhibits you CAN TOUCH, I recommend skipping this museum and heading over to the AZ Science Center.

fun place to go  5 Star Rating - World class

This is a fun place to take children and is also a good place for adults. They have some interesting exibits and plenty of play areas for your child to have fun. The people who work in here know how to educate children and get them interested.

AZ Museum for Kids  5 Star Rating - World class

The Arizona Museum of Youth is an excellent hands-on place. They have exciting and new exhibits each month. They also have fun summer camps that they offer each month as well. Prices are great, and the employees are super friendly!

Fun, Cool, Indoor play area for young children  4 Star Rating - Very good

One place we take my daugther to get out of the heat is Artville, which is a play area within the Arizona Museum for Youth. This play area was created for toddler aged children and has a few different play areas. The first area is set up like a house and has a living area (with a bookcase), kitchen with lots of play food and a garden with corn stalks and carrots in the play dirt. There is another room with arts and crafts type activities. Another section has a slide. In the middle of the room is a section for younger, non-walking children to play with soft blocks and mirrors, etc.

Another great thing is that they second Sunday of each month is free admission.

PROS: Fun way to cool off in AZ summer
CONS: Can get crowded

Great Summer activity  4 Star Rating - Very good

The AZ Museum of Youth is a great place to take the little ones on the hot days of summer. It has great exhibits by local artists. Artville is wonderful for the little ones under the age of 4.

Fun on a hot day  4 Star Rating - Very good

The Arizona Museum for Youth is a great place for kids to learn about art. They have a large play area called "Artville" where children 5 and under can go for interactive play. The rest of the museum is great for school age children, offering them the opportunity to see many different forms of art and create some art themselves.
