Within 5 minutes of entering the CHILDREN'S museum, a woman on staff came over and scolded my son for touching a painting. I know what you're thinking, control your child. Think what you will, my son was very well behaved and simply pointed at the painting and being 3 years old, didn't see the harm in touching what he was pointing at. Many of the paintings had barricades restricting access from little hands, but not all of them.
My point here? IT'S A CHILDREN'S MUSEUM, specifically designed for children 0-4 according to their signage. How do you expect children that age to NOT touch? It's what they do!
For the $15 we spent to get our son, my wife and I in the door, I could have bought reams of construction paper and done arts and crafts in our own house, because apparently that was the big thing to do in the museum. Artville, I will say, was fun for my son and the kids loved it, but it wasn't anything different than one might find in a good day care center.
Overall, I think this museum could be much more than it is, if the curator/staff would think about the exhibits they bring in. For a better experience, and exhibits you CAN TOUCH, I recommend skipping this museum and heading over to the AZ Science Center.
