Lorrie has been my hairdresser for 10 years. That should say how much I love her. She has always been very attentive to my hair, knows what it will do and not do, and advises me accordingly. She is careful, precise, does fabulous color, cut and style. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

My daughter discovered Lorrie and had her hair styled. She liked Lorrie so much that she took her three year old daughter and her one year old son for cuts and Lorrie was great with all of them. I needed a new stylist and started going to Lorrie as well. She works well with my long hair and is always willing to give me helpful suggestions. She pays careful attention to details, is aware of the health of my hair, and always gives me exactly the cut and color I want. Lorrie is pleasant and attentive and takes the time to get to know my personal preferences and responds to them. I have referred friends to Lorrie and they have had very positive service and continue to go to her.

Lorrie has been my hairdresser for over two years now. She is awesome! She does great weaving of highlights and lowlights and if you ever want to go more daring or tone it down or make any changes at all, she really listens to what you want.

She also is great at giving advice if you're thinking about making a change in hairstyle. I had really long hair and wanted to get a shorter cut. I brought in a photo of the cut I thought I wanted. Lorrie is very visual, gave me advice for what she might change in the hairstyle to make it work for my features and then gave me exactly the cut I was hoping for! I was thrilled and got tons of compliments and it's all thanks to Lorrie!

Try her out, you won't be disappointed!!!

I have been going to get my hair done by Sandra since her days in beauty school. She did such a good job there that when she graduated from beauty school I followed her over to Altered Ego Salon. Sandra takes the time to listen and undestand what you want and makes sure you leave the salon happy with your haircut and/or color. I recomend all my family and friends to Sandra and haven't received a complaint yet!

She is the pro , and I respect and trust her sometimes brutally honest opinions about my style. She has never let me down yet. I was referred to Amy by a friend. She is absolutely a color artist. She matched my haircolor perfectly to a picture. She listens in her consultation and provides a professional expertise service. Amy is the best! This stylist has an excellent sense of balance with color and style. She blended three colors giving me that dimensional look that has been difficult to find in a stylist since I moved here from New York. She came highly recommended and I agree she is great. I am very pleased with Alter Ego. I have been there 3 times and I always love the results! Laura is the stylist who cuts and colors my hair. She does a great job on the color. It looks very natural. She has given me several great haircuts and I get lots of compliments about my hair. Frankly, I don't like being at the salon for more than a few hours. She never keeps me waiting and I am usually out of there in two hours. I highly recommend this salon. The staff are friendly and it isn't overpriced.

I have been trying to find a regular hairstylist since I moved to Tempe 2 years ago. I found Altered Ego through another review site and like here, there were tons of great reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. I saw Amy who was the first person to have an appointment open. Before coming in, I had pretty thick side swept bangs that had really grown out and I wanted to trim them up and get an all around reshaping, nothing major. At first Amy cut my bangs very thin and wispy and just on one side of my hair. I asked her to make them a little thicker and more side swept which is a pretty popular style so I thought she would know what I was talking about. It still wasn't coming out right, so she went to get the owner, Tawny. I thought Tawny might step in and try to restyle my hair. Instead she just tried to convince me to like it and then told me that if I didn't, to just wait until it grew out. Finally, I gave up and went home. Later that day, I went out and bought some haircutting shears and completely redid my bangs. I am much happier with them and have had several opinions from people who say they look better now.
Not only am I disappointed with having paid a fair amount of money for a haircut I wasn't happy with but I was also disappointed with the stylist and owner basically telling me I was wrong for not being happy with it. I'm not sure what the clientele base is here, but I did not get the feeling that they mostly catered to a young, stylish crowd which is more of what I was after. I usually let the stylist use any sort of new or creative techniques they have to try out something different and I'm happy as long as it looks good. Unfortunately, that was not the case at Altered Ego and I will not be going there again.

I have finally found a salon where I can get every service done, in one stop. The spray tanning is the best I have ever had. I did not look orange or blotchy for once. My nails looked great and Tiffany was very nice, she has a fun personality. Andthey fixed my hair. Another salon did a number on my hair, and I thought there was no fixing it, but Amy did a great job

I found Altered Ego after stopping a girl in the mall, whos hair was beautiful. She pulled an extra card out of her purse and said, " go see Amy, she is awsome." We had a consultation about color and cutting, before getting started. I felt very confident that we were on the same page. She gave me a whole new look, just what I asked for. I have got so many compliments. Not to mention they have a great referral program so ask for extra business cards.

I had pretty much given up on trying to find a new stylist after mine moved away a few years ago. I was referred by a friend to Laura at Altered Ego and I was so happy with the results. She listened to me, and told me what ideas she had for my hair and it tuned out exactly how I had hoped. I was able to style it myself with no problem and I will definitely be going back. The salon atmosphere is cool and relaxed, prices reasonable and people friendly. So glad I found Laura and I finally like my hair!!

I have been going to Altered Ego to have my haircut with Ashley for two years now. She is wonderful! She is always honest with me about what my hair can and can not handle. I just had highlights added back into my hair and they are AMAZING! The color she used is beautiful and I left feeling like a million bucks! I have been to several hair salons and stylists in the valley and FINALLY found the perfect salon and stylist!

Since I've been going to Terri, my hair now looks fabulous. She really knows her stuff. The style and color she does to my hair is excellent. I trust her with her judgement and she has never disappointed me. Terri is also fun to talk to. She is very interesting and has a great sense of humor. Since I've been going to her, I get lots of complements on my hair do. I started going to Terri because I asked on of my friends at work who did her hair. My friend's hair always looked great and I wanted mine to look good too. I was never happy with my hair until I started to go to Terri.

It's nice spending time at the Salon too. Everyone is nice to me there. They make me feel at home.

Ive had many chances to watch my wife get her hair done. The staff member who does her hair talks to people more than keeping an eye on what shes doing. Poor service includes waiting sometimes up to thirty minutes after our appointment for her to get started. I think she overbooks. As far as the quality goes it all depends on the day. We called one time to say we would be ten minutes late and my wife paid for it by shotty work. All in all being a guy, maybe this review isnt much help but I really do feel I am a expert at watching how careful a stylist can or cant be. For the amount of money we spend you would think a stylist could keep her attention on work and not chatting with other customers and staff.

i walked through the front door of the salon and recieved blank stares from the three employees and the front desk. i should've turned around and walked back through those doors.

the stylist asked what i wanted done. i went over a few wishes & she nodded as if she knew just what i wanted. thirty silent minutes later i ended up with the exact cut i DIDN'T ask for. the next 15 minutes were filled with requests to fix the things i didn't like. all i could see were more and more chunks of hair falling to the floor. i eventually said 'it's fine' just to get her to stop.

when at the front desk paying for my cut the employee short changed me $15, when i told her all she said was 'oh...' and put more money on the counter.

i walked out of the salon with tears running down my face.

i will never return to that place.

I was very impressed with reviews, the personal attention by the stylist, the front desk service & surroundings. However, I stressed how I was growing my hair out & was very specific on details. As usual, the gal cut it too short & seemed very pleased with her results. I felt embarrassed to not tip, which is so stupid on my part. $46, a long drive & I've not had a trim since Oct 25 '07. It's hopeless.

I selected this salon based on the reviews from this website. The salon has a warm and friendly vibe. I didn't walk in expecting anything glitzy. I am a native of Phoenix and have tried many salons from upscale to midrange, never feeling like I'd finally found that "special" one. I'm proud to say Altered Ego has won my business. I booked my color and cut with Shaya and she was friendly, not overly talkative which I appreciated. She listened to what I wanted & I didn't bring a picture like originally planned, she immediately responeded positively sharing different color swatches and proceeded quickly with the mixing up of my hair color. She gave me the cut I asked for. I didn't like the way she styled it, a little to Emo-ish for me, but I was able to come home and quickly achieve the look I wanted, due to the great cut she gave me. The interior of the salon is cozy and ecclectic. Don't expect hand massages, super long scalp massages, fancy beverages or people trying to "sell" you on products. If that is what you want try Dolce or Rolf's $$$$. I do know the owner of the salon is opening a coffee/tea bar with an assortment of pastries next door to the salon, a plus for those of us coffee addicts. Another plus for this adorable salon is the positive energy exuded by all the staff and the friendliness they demonstrate towards the children that come along with their stylish moms. Definately a place to try !

Hey there! On October 24, I had my hair cut, colored, and styled at Altered Ego Salon and Spa. My hairstylist was Shaya, and she was FABULOUS! I moved here FOUR WEEKS ago from Ohio and had to find a new stylist. After hours of internet research, I narrowed it down to four salons. I "rolled the dice" and chose Altered Ego. I am starting to interview, and I knew my look had to be updated. Shaya gave me a brilliant haircut along with color. She was not pushy and did not try to "sell" me on a hairstyle that may not fit me or my personality; very professional. Shaya took time to consult with me, which is a part of good customer service. I sent my picture to friends and family back in Ohio and they love my new look. I have received many compliments. I would like to mention that it is nice that Altered Ego has offers for new customers like me. I will definitely go back to the salon. I like the decor which I would describe as "Asian-Esque." It was very calming which I needed because I am brand new to Arizona and haven't had a chance to meet new people and receive feedback about salons -- raszz

My stylist is Lorrie @ Altered Ego. I have been getting great haircuts and styling from Lorrie for over 10 years! She is open to ideas and gives honest feedback. I have gone from short to long to natural to color with highlights. She always gets it right. I have followed Lorrie for 10 years and she has been here at the salon for the last year. She also is the best with eyebrow waxing. Very clean and detailed on getting those stray brow hairs. The Salon is very nice--Surprisingly stylish for being in a strip mall type area. Prices are pretty reasonable as well.

Looking at the reviews was pretty impressive, so I called and was put on hold by Jeff (or possibly Jason?).....FOR 10 MINUTES!!! This isn't just a guess....my phone has a timer on it. After the first five minutes of holding I just stayed on the line to see if anyone would EVER pick up. A female finally did after the 10 minute mark. She asked how she could help me. I let her know I was attempting to make an appointment for a haircut and she informed me that she had picked up my line by mistake and could I hold please. I quickly informed her that I had been on hold for about 10 minutes....silence on the line with some frantic whispering in the background...and then I was on hold again. To their credit, I suppose, some one did pick up within about a minute. By that time I decided that Altered Ego may be great with hair, but I like a little customer service with my cut and colors.

WOW.. I have finally found the perfect salon!! I had an appointment last week and took advantage of the new client offer and from the great customer service from the receptionist down to my new hairstylist Ashley, it was by far the best salon I have been in. She was so attentive when I was describing what I wanted and she gave me exactly that!! I want to thank Jason at the front for being so patient with me while trying to work around my hectic schedule, ive called other salons that didnt listen and my appointment was messed up because of it, so thank you Jason! I will definitely be back, in fact I already pre-booked my next cut! Thanks Altered Ego... YOU ROCK!!

I went to the salon as a first time customer today, and let me tell you - it was great! I read all of the reviews on this site, so I thought I would try it out. I was not disappointed. Since I was a new customer, I got a deal of a free haircut with any color service...can't beat that! My stylist was Ashley, and she did a wonderful job. I couldn't be happier. She listened to what I wanted, and gave me exactly what I asked for. (Unlike my last experience at a different salon.) The highlights came out beautiful, and the haircut was perfect. I will definitely be going back again and again.

I frequent the salon for haircuts, color and highlights by Ashley, and facials by Billie. I've never had a bad experience with either one of them. Ashley listens to exactly what you want. While she's doing your hair, you can tell that she truly has a passion for her job. Billie's facials make you never want to leave, with the calming music, warm blankets, and light conversation. I always look forward to going back, and I'd recommend the salon to anyone that asks!!

Finally I found a stylist that could provide what I wanted. I read this salons mission statement and promise and it is everything they say. I went to Amy and she gave me a great haircut and great haircolor. She is a very nice person and makes you feel very comfortable and provides an experience of satisfaction. Read reviews and took a chance with this speciality salon and received a premium new look. I desperately was looking for a better stylist and found Amy who took my hi-lights to a new dimension. She took time to listen to my needs and what I wanted, she reviewed colors carefully to my complexion and facial features and found red tones that complimented me with an entirely different look. She can redefine a new look into a fabulous indvidualistic creation and she is an artist with haircolor. This salon is friendly and accommodating with a prices that saved me money and my time plus lots of parking. Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere is very harmonious and comfortable. Went by reviews and tried this salon. I highly recommend. I had a facial by Billie who initially takes time to discuss skin needs and what product she will use for the best results. The results are an unbelieveable glow to my 52 year old skin and she reduced my large pores to normal. I now have a smooth and satiny finish to my skin that I had not received with other salons. She uses quality, hi-end products at a very reasonable price. I returned for a hair cut and color by a very skilled stylist and I am most pleased with my new look. I highly recommend anyone looking for a skilled facial expert and stylists. This salon provided me with a quality service.

After several disasters trying to get the right shade of red I found Amy!! I now have beautiful red/blonde highlighted long hair. Amy's ability to comprehend and match your vision of shades of red is special - and I know how hard it is to find that talent!! Great haircuts - Listens and cares - I know several women who get their hair done by Amy and all of their color has that special something. Can't go wrong trying this girl out - when it comes to color - she just gets it!!

Just moved from las Vegas; referred by Vegas Stylist who knew this little shop and I loved the experience and service I received. My new stylist, Amy is great! She layered my long hair pefectly and listened to exactly what I wanted and cut my hair exactly to the picture I brought in. She gave me fun hi-lights and great shine to my hair. I liked her friendly and positive attitude and it was all about me! It's nice to receive a service with satisfaction and quality customer service. This salon is great and the stylists are great but the receptionist was very hurried and rude when I was making an appointment. I asked her for a recommendation on which stylist was best in a particular style. She promptly replied, "I don't know. All of them! They are all highly trained." She said this with disgusts as if I was bothering her by asking such a question. If the receptionist doesn't want to answer a simple question then maybe she shouldn't be working there. It would be like going to a restaurant and asking what is good and them saying to you in disgusts, "Everything, just pick something."

Sleek N Sassy Salon makes a statement. I had a great highlight, color, cut and pedicure. This salon pronounces beauty with professional experts. The stylist first asked me what I would like and she listened carefully and made suggestions that would compliment my face. Add this salon to your favorites. I was a walk in from a referral from local airline attendant after seeing how beautiful her hair looked. The walkin was welcomed with warm smiles and coffee. I was treated very nicely and respectfully and this really impressed me. The beautician was dainty and cute with a warm smile and it occurred to me that everyone was happy to be here and it was deliciously contagous. My hair color weave was the best ever and my hair cut was precise and bouncy. I would rate this salon as one City Searches Best ever.

I heard about Altered Ego from a gal at work, and she had nothing but great things to say about this salon every time she went. I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. They use Aveda products which I love, along with other lines that i also love. Entire salon is decorated so darn cute. My stylist was awsome. I have gotten so many compliments on how great it looks. I also went back to get a facial from Billie who was terrific, and very knowlegable about skin care. I will be back and soon.

Best experience and quality for your money. Referred by airline while traveling on plane lady w/beautiful color and cut, referred me. The skills are incredible at this salon. Color by Amy was spectacular and fabulous, very skilled stylist. No one has ever matched my color and hilights this precisely and accurate. I decided at last minute to have a facial and nail color. My facial by Billie wonderful. When you make your entrance, the receptionist is friendly and beautiful smile that captures your attention. This salon is friendly, accommodating, can't do anything more than please you and want to know you are leaving with a wonderful experience and I definately spent my money in a good way. This summer I have been to several spas in Scottsdale getting my skin wedding ready. I thought I would receive a superior facial experience in Scottsdale- the more you pay, the better it is, right? Not in this case. I should have stuck with the gals at Altered Ego. Last Saturday I enjoyed a collagen facial- Danielle worked with me to determine the level of service that would work with my skin type, the amount of time left until my makeup and time I had to get eh service. It was very relaxing! And my skin looks great- more clear than before- this gal is a pro at extraction- it has a great glow to it and best of all she reccommended a great product to help keep that facial glow in between facials. I highly reccommend Altered Ego's spa services!

Thank God for these stylists in this salon. I found friendly people with a great attitude. They all smile and welcome you and provide the best hair cut and color I have ever had. My hair color is perfectly matched to my natural hair color. I had a pedicure too and what a relaxing experience. I went back a week later for a facial and had a wonderful experience. I went back again for hair extensions and I have never looked more beautiful.

Exemplinary example of great stylists, manicurist, aesthitician and customer service. The receptionist is the first point of contact and is very friendly and warm with a big welcome. The stylists are available and appointments are not a problem. This salon offers beauty, style, comfort, ease, available parking, not to mention great products without pressure of selling them. You go here because you have a wonderful experience and feel great when you walk out with a feeling a money well spent. The decor is pretty and the people are sweet. They serve good coffee too. Finally a great salon with great stylists, nail techs, hair extensions, facials and pedicures all in one. I had one great day being pampered like a queen. This salon has a friendly welcoming attitude to each customer that walked in and I experienced something never before. Rate this salon a 10 on City Search. Stylists are beautiful examples of this industry and they exemplify extraordinary skills with cuts and color. Dressed perfect, hair beautiful. My facial great. My nails great. My first time visit was fabulous. Staff is nice, pleasant environment with skilled stylist. My hair has never looked so great and my pedicure was great. These people work together as a team environment and are happy people to be around - relaxing atmosphere.
