This truly is a superb Italian restaurant. The food is impeccably prepared with the freshest ingredients, and the menu offerings are right out of Italy. Among several of the wonderful dishes my wife and I have tried and loved are the Ravioli di Zucca (butternut squash pasta), Osso Bucco (a special - not always on the menu), and a seafood special (succulent whitefish prepared to perfection). We have also sampled several of the appetizers on different occasions and found them all to be delicious and innovative. I am not an especially big fan of deserts, especially chocolate concoctions that I usually find heavy and over-the-top (yes, some would say a serious flaw in my tastes), but I was blown away by a delicate very chocolaty desert my wife ordered and I sampled. I believe it was the Bonet (advertised as "rich chocolate custard with amaretti and caramel sauce"). She was lucky to get any after that first sample; it WAS rich and chocolaty, but had a finesse in balanced texture and flavor that I had not experienced anywhere else in many years!
I know that any restaurant can have an off night, and I can only assume that one of the other reviewers had some bad luck dining with his wife and Mother-in-Law. Maybe that was part of the problem - no offense to anyone, but I'm just sayin'.... Anyway, I agree with that reviewer that Vivace is the other Italian restaurant "gem" in Tucson not to be missed. Tavalino's and Vivace are both excellent!

Tavolino's is a small and very cozy Italian restaurant that serves the best Italian food around. As a vegetarian, I had several options to chose from. GREAT!!
PROS: DELICIOUS PASTA dishes
