great place for steaks

by Susan A. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,855

you're greeted with sawdust on the floors and a tin of peanuts to munch on. The steaks are awesome and my favorite is the new york strip. Every table gets some of their homemade rolls too. Moderately priced and worth the money. I prefer it over Outback.

Delicious food, fun atmosphere

by Kristi B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,880

I just love going to Texas Roadhouse, feels like you're visiting Texas. It has a real fun atmosphere, somewhat casual, but the food is first rate! The booths are nice and big (like Texas) and they start you out with a bucket of peanuts and the most delicious sweet yeast rolls (which they will refill throughout your meal). The steak is wonderful and the kids will enjoy their filling meals too, they're very reasonably priced and they get a lot of food! I recommend you call ahead and get your name on the waiting list. They do have a pretty big waiting area, but not big enough. It can be fairly loud, which is fine, and if you have small children you don't have to worry about them being too loud and bothering anyone.

PROS: wonderful food at reasonable prices, good place to take kids
CONS: busy, you may have a long wait depending on when you go

Very average

by Laura S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 347

Being a native Texan, I expected something comparable to a good Texas steakhouse here. Instead, the steaks are middle quality, under-flavored and nothing special. They do serve ridiculously large margaritas here, but I would not go for the steaks alone.

Texas Roadhouse is the best steak house in town!

by Denise M. | insider Insider | Rank: 22,759

This place has the best sirloin steak and ribs I've ever eaten. They were both outstanding. The meat is so tender and delicious. I swear it's like butter, it just melts in your mouth. I've never had sirloin or ribs like this before. When the waitress told us they had the best ribs in town, she wasn't kidding. And neither am I. I highly recommend this restraurant for the ribs alone.

Best Value For Steaks

by Naomi823

I?ve been here a couple of times, the food is excellent and so is their service. This has to be the best place to have a steak in Mesa, I?ve been to other Chain Steak Houses and none of them can compare to this one; It?s the Best hands down. I look forward to going again this Saturday with my mom. I have took her to the other steak house next door but that was a BIG mistake and a waste of money too I should of went here instead the prices are about the same but you get better food and service at the Roadhouse. Don?t know how that other chain steak house can stay in business when it?s next to a better one(soon there will be a closing sign on their door and building will be knocked down for more parking for the Texas Roadhouse; it could happen). Sure the atmosphere is not your typical romantic dim lighting, clean floors, and stuck up waiters. To be honest I prefer the Texas style steak house it?s more fun and friendly and great place to hang out and relax. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants an excellent meal and not spend double elsewhere.

Pros: Service, Food

Cons: None

Great steak at a good price

by Sara7769

I am actually writing about the location on gilbert and the san tan 202, however, I cannot find the listing. Anyway, I have been here many times and I just have to speak out at how pleased I am.
The waiter I had most recently was very friendly, if I remembered his name I would give him a shout out. I took some friends, who had never ate there before, and he was very patient, as well as helpful.
The rolls are delicious, my steak was phenomenal, cesaer salad dressing is great, and the baked potato tasted like it was homemade. Some resturants have prepackaged vegetables and potatos, and if texas roadhouse does, they fooled me. Reasonable price for a great meal. Other places like, The Keg have greats steaks as well, however, you pay about double. If your looking for a fantastic meal and a decent price, I would recommend them!

Pros: Fresh cut meat, friendly quick service

Cons: Not a romantic atmosphere

You've got to try their rolls! Ribs and chicken are good. I must go back and try the salmon platter. Sweet potato is very, very good!

Great steak

by osully

Wait time of more than an hour on a Friday evening. Starter Cactus Blossom much better than the one served at the Outback. New York strip steak came well trimmed, and cooked as ordered. House steak sauce leaves a lot to be desired, it's not A1. Friendly service, cheap Margaritas before 6pm. Watch out for the strange balloon guy working for tips.

If you love meat, belly up to the table!

by eddmon

Our first exposure to Texas Roadhouse was in Glen Allen, VA. My wife and I were floored by the tastiest ribs weve ever had. The same held true for the restaurant in Albuquerque, NM. and Gilbert, AZ. Therefore, I have to say, good eats can be found in most any Roadhouse.
All the restaurants we visited were hectic. Call Ahead!!! Youve been warned!! They are busy and noisy (say what?)!! Peanut shells adore the floors so grab yourself a bucket as you get seated. As the Roadhouses are hectic, the service can be sketchy. Take your time and be patient because the food will be worth the wait.
If you love meat, youve found a Nirvana!!

Not up to the rest

by dhadlo1

As a chain restaurant, I have had the pleasure of dining in many of the Roadhouse's across the country. However, after two different trips to this location, we have added it to our "Never Again" list! The first time, the steaks were undercooked for 2 of our party. By the time they returned them to be eaten, they were burned on the outside and not really appetizing. The second time, the steak had a strip of cartiledge thru it that made it impossible to eat. On both occassions, when we brought this to someone's attention, all we got was a shrug of the shoulder and a not-very-heartfelt "Sorry."

Pros: Ambience, Decor

Cons: Poor Food, Poor Service

Fantastic

by jlmdancer

This steak house is great!!! It was completely packed on a Sunday night, yet we still didn't not wait long and the service was probably the best service we ever had!!! The food was tremendous. The staff assisted each other when necessary and never once gave the wrong dish to the wrong person! Everyone's food was excellant. My fiance and I will definately eat at Texas Roadhouse instead of Black Angus and Outback! I was very very impressed! It also seems like a great place to celebrate a birthday. There must have been 5 birthdays the night we were there.

Pros: service, food, ambiance

Best Steak House in the East Valley

by michelezanella

I was impressed with everything about this Steakhouse, starting with the warm bread brought to you when you sit down. The dinner salads are excellent (they give you more then just lettuce) and the Steaks are out of this world!! the sirloin is my favorite. Not only is the food good the service is even better, employee's work as a team and make sure all customers are taken care of promptly. To top it all off you dont have to remortgage your house to eat there, very reasonable prices for great food.
This place is a must if you want a great reasonably priced meal!! great for the whole family.

Pros: Inexpensive, great food, good service

Cons: no reservations

by andilea19

I love steak. Texas Roadhouse has the best I've had in a long time. Better than Outback & Black Angus. Its trimmed perfectly, cooked exactly as I order it (med-rare), and seasoned perfectly. The mashed potatoes are wonderfully lumpy, and when covered with the white country gravy, they're irresistible. The chicken tenders are unusual, but exceptional. The baked sweet potato loaded with cinn/sugar/butter/marshmallow is good as a side dish or by itself for lunch. As someone who loves ribs, but hates the mess, their ribs are so tender; they easily come off the bone with slight pressure from a fork and can be eaten mess-free. Their barbeque sauce is yummy too. Call ahead is definitely recommended for any of their locations. The atmosphere is very casual and the staff is always friendly and prompt. I have only had 1 bad server in the 40+ times I have been there.

Pros: Great Food, Inexpensive, Fun atmosphere

WOW!

by spartansun

Gotta love this place! My first visit & I am hooked! My server explained that all their steaks are cut there on site, all the side dishes & salad dressings are homemade, & their bread (served with honey cinammon butter) is to die for! Call ahead seating is available - which we will definitely use next time. Lastly - the atmosphere is extremely casual, with peanut shells on the floor, country music playing on the jukebox, great for young families like ours! Texas Roadhouse is a place you have got to try!

Pros: great value, fun, casual atmosphere, awesome food

Cons: lots of people inside, busy parking lot

The Steak ain't so great, so why bother?

by MsVal

I've tried the 75th and Thomas location. The steak was tough and grisly, but other than that-what's to complain about?!

This Steakhouse has the best Medallions I have ever had in any Steakhouse ever. The Texas Roadhouse has to be the best new restaurant in Mesa, Arizona. We now go there every week. The atmosphere is great, the staff is usually upbeat and very helpful.

great food

by drlovegun

Great experience. Loved the food and the atmospere. This is what The Outback used to be like until they became too big and the food has gone downhill. Texas has great steak and the ribs are fab. No need to knaw on the bones.

Tex Sized Steaks

The biggest, most tender steaks in town with absolutely no fat. Top it off with a big mug of ice cold beer and some country music and you'll have a hell of a meal!
