Got to know them when they first came to town and have stayed true to their word since day one. Friendly, professional and only seem to do the work that needs to be done. Great providing options and letting you know what can wait til later.

I had been going to Ketchum's Auto for a couple years for oil changes, and light maintenance for my Chevy Blazer for a couple years. I had to do a scheduled transmission filter and fluid change to keep my warranty from being void, so I went to Ketchum's. After the work was done, I drove a couple miles, and noticed the automatic transmission was slipping, so I turned around and brought my Blazer back to Ketchums. I barely made it back to the shop it was slipping so bad. They took it back in to the shop, and gave it back to me, and said it was just an adjustment, and now it was perfect. I immediately noticed that it was shifting a little late, and revving much higher than usual before it shifted. I had a buddy check it out, and he told me that changing the Tranny fluid and filter should require no adjustments on an automatic transmission, and that more likely, the mechanic forgot to put fluid in after he did he filter change. He said that the transmission should work for a while, but it was shifting much too late, and would soon have to be replaced.\r\n\r\nI went into Ketchums, but they denied any problem, and said a GM transmission with 80,000 miles will shift a little late. I told them I never had this problem until they did the Fluid and filter change. They denied any wrongdoing, and would not make good on their mistake.\r\n\r\nI figured it would cost more money and time to bring them to court, and traded the Blazer in for a new car. This Blazer was perfect before I brought it to Ketchum's Auto and Tire. I expected to get another 40,000 - 60,000 miles out of it at the very least. I loved that Blazer!\r\n\r\nI understand that people make mistakes. In this case, Ketchum should have just admitted that they screwed up, and made good on it. As a result, I have never been back to Ketchum's. Anytime anyone tells me they are looking for a good mechanic, I tell them of my experience there, and tell them to definitely avoid them at all costs.\r\n\r\nThey were always surly, but I come from back East, and though it was just part of their Chicago charm. They are truly surly, and also not to be trusted. This all happened a couple years ago, but I thought I'd share it to save anyone else from being raked over the coals by Ketchum's.

Cons: They do not stand by their mistakes

I have found an auto repair shop that I can not say enough positivie things about. My experience was the best I have ever had when getting a car repaired. I visit an elderly relative and often take her car for service. Because I am not local I need it done correctly as repetivie trips are not possible. I have taken the car to them on several occasions and I have been extremely pleased with the Ketchum's Automotive & Tire Company. Integrity is clearly a hallmark of their shop and they stand behind their service. Rest assured your vehicle will receive the best work at Ketchum's. I wish they would open a store in Houston, TX.
