Lakeview at the Bay offers great waterfalls and an even better location to access Tempe area attractions, but don't be fooled. The minor inconveniences of broken appliances, combat parking, and filthy pools are a bit annoying, but the loud, drunken partying every weekend across the complex makes living here rather miserable.

Burglery and vehicle thefts are common, but the horrifying double murder/suicide in the resident parking lot this weekend really brings security concerns to the forefront. Add these two deaths to a third student murdered here last July, and Lakeview is one of the most deadliest communities in Tempe. Sure, some folks will argue that all three murders were specific "domestic violence" events, but in the case of this weekend, many residents are wondering how the shooter (who was not a resident) gained access to wait for hours in a dark parking lot before shooting his victims? Better lighting, closed caption cameras, more frequent patrols... maybe simple solutions would've prevented these tragedies. My heart goes out to the families of all three girls.

The sad thing is that the security company that services Lakeview is actually really good, but the management company refuses to pay them to patrol as frequently as they need to. Perhaps if they started caring a little more about their residents than their bottom line, then this community might live up to its potential.

Anyway, the bottom line is that right now the Lakeview community is NOT a pleasant nor particularly safe place to live. Check out the crime stats at www.tempe.gov before you chose an apartment here... I sure wish I had.

I lived here for two years, and the staff used tube ok. The place only "looks" nice and the only reason I renewed my lease was the complex was close to my work. I regretted signing a new lease as soon as I did it. The staff seems to be very nice hewn you go to look at the apartments and that because they make a commission when you rent, but once you are there they could care less about you. They treat you like they are doing you a favor when something breaks. Again when you move out they make things up so they can make more money. I had an apartment by the pool and although it was locked after 11 pm on weekends people could easy access it by going over the fence. I complained over 4-5 times that at 2,3,4am people were in the pool partying and drinking because the management did nothing. One time I was on my patio and the security came by and told them hey keep it down or I will get in trouble for letting you stay in there. The security would make people get out and lock the fence at 11 pm then tell people I wont be back for 2 hours and the people would go right back in. People parked in my spot on a consistent basis and the staff did nothing to help, but god forbid you take one of their spots in the front you will be towed. I moved out of the apartment in April but my lease was not up until the end of June so I had to pay the last two months (may and June) which I did, but get this they called me in may to say my music is too loud. I had not lived there for a month and they were complaining to me about music the night before. ALSO!!!!! THE BEST PART.....

THE APARTMENTS HAVE SCORIONS!! If you dont ask them to have the exterminator come you willet stung. One time I got stung on my hand at 2 am while in bed sleeping and the other I got stung on the foot while sitting at my desk. If you have ever been stung by a scorpion you will understand how much it hurts. If you havent imagine 200 bee stings in one spot. They came and exterminated after each sting and it was clear for a few month but if you dont REQUEST the service they do not provide it.

My suggestion is move here if you absolutely need a place to stay close to work, but dont move here if you have any other options.

Pros: nice looks

Cons: The worst management staff.
