Make sure you try family-owned Desert Jade for fresh authentic Chinese cuisine! The lettuce wraps are the best in town! Don't miss the sizzling rice shrimp. You will always be greeted with a smile. The service is superb. If you need a quick meal, just ask. You can get your orders in minutes! Reasonable prices also.

As a 'foody', I've had good, mediocre & bad, but next to PF Chang's (which is twice the price) this is the hands-down best I've found since returning to Phoenix. This restaurant is so affordable and SO much more authentic that so many other Chinese restaurants in town that offer the same items at the same prices. Hint: try their Won Ton Soup. And unlike another re-viewer's claim, they are open for lunch AND dinner!

This is the best Chinese food in town. I love their veggie chow mein. They will serve the veggies steamed or make any dish with 1/2 oil on request for a lighter meal.

I'm not a big fan of the new trendy Asian restaurants that are popping up everywhere like Pei Wei and PF Changs. I grew up in NJ where Chinese restaurants were awesome and every one of them had a menu a mile long and had real authentic food. It's hard to find a place like that out here in Phoenix, which is why I was so thrilled when I found Desert Jade. It's far from my house but definitely worth the trip. First of all it has great atmosphere. I like places that have their lights dimmed, candles on the table, and that feel cozy, and I found that here. They have a bar so you can get a Mai Tai or some other rum infused drink with an umbrella. There menu has that mile long list I was looking for. We had the sesame chicken and sweet and sour shrimp, both of which were fabulous. Of course we started with the Poo Poo platter (which for some reason they call the Bo Bo platter) which was great as well. The only thing I was a little sad about was that their egg roll wasn't that great. I'm on a quest to find a big, fluffy, light/green cabbage having (not dark green and slimy), egg roll with tiny shrimp and bits of pork in it like the ones from the east coast. I can't tell you how many egg rolls I've tried in Phoenix and haven't found anything even remotely close. But, egg roll aside, if you like traditional Chinese food, you'll love this place.

Desert Jade is a classic, fantastic food, a good atmosphere, service that ensures that your food is out within fifteen minutes and a really interesting decor that resembles a Connecticut library more than a regular Chinese restaurant, though the contrast is quite charming.

Foodwise, I would definitely recommend the chicken fruit salad (I thought it was a weird combination as well, but it's delicious), lettuce wraps and sizzling rice soup. These are the standouts, the truly delicious dishes that I have every time I go.

The service is fast, friendly and I'm always pleased with my dining experience. It's great to be able to support a family-owned restaurant with good food, service and that has been around for so long, going on 20 years now.

Pros: Speed of service, food, ambience

Cons: Parking can get crowded when it's really busy

I love this restaurant. They have really good Wonton soup, ginger beef, sesame chicken and moo shoo pork. This place also does a killer fried rice. It is small and very warm inside. great place for a quiet dinner out. I love this place.

For two people it will run you about $40 with entree and appetizers.

Lived the 1st half of my life in New York and still frequent Chinatown on at minumum of once per year, Desert Jade is not Chinese food. It is the typical Americanized Chinese food. If you are looking for anything that would be considered Authentic, try another restaurant.

For Mainstream, Americanized Chinese food, it was OK, the only thing it was missing was the fied noodles to dip in the orange sauce.

Pros: Clean, plenty of parking, comfortable booths/chairs.

Cons: Atmosphere was more of a steak house than a Chinese restaurant.

There food is so fresh and delicious here. The atmosphere inside is quiet and very traditional! They serve hot tea before your meals. They serve your food on china. There entrees have tons of taste I like there general chicken or chicken and fresh vegetables. They are only open for dinner though.

I would say I am a hugh Chinese Food guy. I try to find the best places when I travel.

Read some of the reviews and thought I give this place a try. I LOVE IT!!!
I started with the Sizzle Rice Soup. Once that rice hit the soup, it tasted mm mmm good.
then we had three main dishes. The Chicken Chow mein, Pepper Beef, and this wonderful dish called Chicken Lettus!! wow...

P.S...This juandixon guy who give such a "insightful" review. Yeah I'm sure there's a place behind the Sonic and liquor store. But I would be wary what he is recommending.

Really enjoyed our expierence at this restaurant.I definetly recommend the Tangerine Beef Sauteed Shrimp and Seasame Chicken. Also had the Wonton Soup which was also great. Reminded me of what I used to eat in New York when I was a little child.

After reading the reviews I had expected great food, and stopped in to order takeout. The food came out really quickly, the people were very friendly, but the taste was definately average at best. Sweet and sour chicken was large pieces of sliced meat, highly colored pineapple, very bland taste, vegetables in the chicken/vegetable dish tasted canned, even the dipping sauce was uninspired. Maybe I shouldn't have expected so much but I won't be going back.

I've been to Desert Jade multiply times and everytime I've gone it's still the best chinese food I've had. The service is fast and friendly and the food is always hot and really yummy. My favorites are the Lemon Chicken, Fried Won Tons and Sizzling Rice Soup. Desert Jade is an absolute must try!

Saw this restaurant had good rating on Internet and decided to try it. Everyone was very pleased with the meal. The lightly sauteed shrimp was excellent. The Bo Bo appetizer was very good.

I've eaten in so many places before. All over this country and overseas. And I have to agree with the rest. This is a 10 all the way. The food comes out fresh, hot and yummy, but yet it comes out fast, and friendly. I can't explain. do try!!!!!
