oh and for people talking purebred this, purebred that...do u even realize what that means?! thats not what its all about. id rather pay 400 for a mutt as you say that is a great loving healthy dog, than 400 for a "purebred" dog that will have so many health problems in a few years from all of its "pure" inbreeding. Ur not taking it to a freaking dog show. and if u are complaining about omg purebred and mutt blah blah....then quite frankly you dont deserve a dog because you just want one for show not as family.

I purchased my first dog, a Doberman Pinscher, from the Puppy Place in 2004, and my second dog, a Miniature Pinscher, in 2005. In both cases, I went around town and looked at a few "breeders" and some other pet stores, and I concluded that the value for the price of these dogs could not be beat. Does it suck that you don't get AKC papers for them, yes. Is the place a little hole in the wall, yes. Is the price of $400 way less expensive than the pet store in the mall, absolutely. Both dogs were healthy and have matured well over the last 6-7 years of ownership. Just make sure to get all of their puppy shots and you should be fine. When the time comes to get another dog, I will be looking at the Puppy Place.

Many years ago my mother purchased a "Toy Poodle" from the Puppy Place. As most, she got very ill. Yes, having so many puppies around means there's a higher chance of the dogs getting ill. Our puppy didn't get parvo or any of the other typical puppy diseases, she was very badly bred and had genetic problems. She died before she turned a year old.
My only problem with the Puppy Place is that they charge so much for these puppies that no one can prove have decent bloodlines, so why purchase there when you can get one for 100 or less most of the time at a shelter and that covers that spay/neuter and a free vet visit AND you're saving a life AND you have the same information you would've gotten at this pet store?
I've rescued for years and have only had parvo twice, never distemper, and I'm not a biased person either, I do own a dog that's from a breeder. I met my purebred dog's parents and have his pedigree so I know what his future looks like and I paid less for him than the Puppy Place charges.
You decide.

Disease-ridden puppy that I was able to get back to health. This puppy was abandoned with its litter (I followed the litter to the Puppy Place), but they tried to tell me they were from a known good home, etc. The only reason I bought my puppy there is because of where the litter ended up. If they'd ended up in the shelter they would have been a lot better off. Dirty, irresponsible, and dishonest? Not a good combo for the welfare of animals.

I too got my puppy at p.p,.That was 9 years ago and I have a healthy lovable lab mix. I agree with alot of others tho that the facillity is quite dirtyand alot of the puppies are sick. mine had a terrible case of kennel cough which I treated immediatly....poor lil thing...but if we do like the other blogger said, and tell ppl not to go there, who will save them? What does it take to vaccinate the pups against parvo? Parvo is very contagious n the pups suffer. Donate!

I had recently purchased a German Shepard puppy for my little sister and what happens?
She has parvo and died several days later at the vet!.
and how did they resolve it? "Sorry but that's common among dogs, you want to purchase another one?"
Why haven't they closed down? I have no idea, these horrible people just care about making money instead of giving the dogs love and care they need!
Monsters! That's what they are!
NEVER BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!

I recently purchased my second dog from the puppy place and once again had a great experience. Too all of you who had health problems with your dogs, you may be misinformed about PUPPIES. When puppies are young and have not had a complete set of vaccinations they are incredibly prone to MANY diseases, just like human babies, they have little to NO immume system. They can pick them (diseases) up from ANYTHING... visitors, parks, pet stores, other animals ect. Anytime there are a number of puppies in a small space, there is an increased risk for infectious diseases. Yes, that includes the fancy OVER PRICED pet stores in the mall and down the street as well as the breeder from across the country. This is a LOCALLY owned business with LOCALLY breed puppies. We don't try to return our babies to the hospital or pediatrician if they get sick. Owning a puppy assumes the risk of everything that comes along with it. Life is not perfect, neither are puppies. Each and everytime I've visited the Puppy Place (since I was a child might I add) I've experienced friendly staff, a clean environment, (as clean as possible, remember we're dealing with PUPPIES here-no controll over bodily functions) and adorable healthy puppies. I think some of you are expecting way to much out of a PUPPY! And as far as price is concerned, the prices at the Puppy Place are around HALF that of the fancy breeders who want to stick your new family member on an airplane!

I was gogling reviews for the puppy place and a Review posted by Michelle N. has struck my attention and i have a few questions regarding her review. i too purchased a pup from there and i am still awaiting a vet visit, however you state you recently purchased your pup and i was curious to know how recent? also which vet did you take him/her too? i am now a little concerned for my puppy since you stated there had been a few other puppys who had come in contact with the parvo, if you could please respond i would greatly appreciate it. also did you address the issue to the owners or staff of the puppy place and what did they do to take care of the problem?

Recently purchased a puppy from the puppy place. He got extremely sick and we just found out that he has parvo and some of the other dogs had also got parvo there. He is extremely sick right now and we are not sure if he is going to make it or not. It is not cheap to keep him alive right now but we are trying. Would not recommend getting your dog there. They will only pay up to 300 dollars for medicine. The bills are going to cost a lot more than 300 though.

My family took me to go get our dog Henry (Boxer Lab mix) from the Puppy Place back in 1999, it's hard to believe that was 10 years ago. Henry is still a member of our family today, but his health isn't great. However, for the first ten years of his life, Henry was Healthy, and didn't require more than two serious (sub-$750) vet visits. Henry was very energetic as a puppy, but mellowed out by the time he was three or four, and is a great dog. I won't be buying my next dog there, but that's not a reflection on the Puppy Place, I have more stringent requirements and expectations than my parents do.

I took my girlfriend to this place to find her a puppy for her birthday. We got in there and it was not a well kept place for sure. Well she fell in love with this one puppy so I threw $500 in cash on the table and got the dog. Well the contract that I signed said we had to take her in one week to the vet. We did... She had kennel cough and ring worm. After the treatment the bill came to $150. P.P. only covered $25 dollars of the problem when it was their fault because of the terrible environment that she was in. Very disappointing!!! Then the "Great" vet that they suggested mis diagnosed her condition and so we took her back and did not refund us at all in fact charged us another fee that came to $80 in medication. And the P.P. did nothing to cover it. I mean " MAN UP to the problems that were caused because of your gross environment!" does any body agree with me? And for the people who had a great experience... Good for you. But just take a look at all of the others on here that had the worst experience. Feel a little sorry for them. They fall in love with something and then that love becomes a nightmare all because of someone wanting to save a dollar. It's sickening. I still love the dog to death. She's 6 months now and still has problems. And I guess that I'm just frustrated. I only wanted to read what others were saying about the Puppy Place, but once I did read it, I felt it was best for me to speak my mind. I mean when you have tons of people complain about this place...Why are they still open or at least why can't they keep it more well kept. I mean I am only 22 and money for a vet is tough to come buy during this economy. I hope an employee from the P.P. reads this, then pulls my file and calls me to say that they will reimburse me plus more for them being such a crap place. I will never talk highly of this place and I've told everyone I know in tucson (tons) not to even walk into this store( let alone buy an animal.) And I will keep continuing to do so. Sorry for the long message, just thought it needed to be said.

I have been a visitor to The Puppy Place for many years. I finally fell in love with a toy poodle and bought him.. He has been such a joy to our family and I continue to go there (just to see). I would purchase again from them if we ever were to expand our family, and I admire their business practices, as they never "dismiss" a puppy that doesn't sell quickly. They are up front and honest about their policies and prices. I recommend them highly.

I purchased a boxer from the Puppy Place in about April 2007. I fell in love instantly. We took him into the vet the day after we got him as instructed. Exactly one week later we took him into the vet again because he had not eaten the day before and did not seem right. To my surprise he had parvo. From what I was told and read parvo usually shows up about a week and a half after the dog is infected. I can not say for sure that my puppy got parvo while at the puppy place but I don??t see how he could have gotten it at my house where no dog with parvo has ever been. As they said they paid the $300.00 for treatment that cost us $1,500.00. I personally wouldn??t buy from their again but I do agree that the puppys are adorable and can understand the draw to the place. I have also heard from two other people that their puppy had parvo right after coming home. Use your best judgement.

I have to agree with one of the reviewers who pointed out that the people who complained about The Puppy Place did not purchase an animal there. I'm basically anti-pet store. I'm from California which outlawed selling pets through pet stores completely. I took a chance with The Puppy Place. Yes, the kitties have a small space, but they do in most county run rescue shelters too. The puppies have adequate space. It's not like they're going to grow up there. Sophie, our toy poddle from The Puppy Place, is a healthy, happy, bouncing, wrestle-with-the-cat bundle of joy. She receives good vet care through us. Now, there are pet stores I wouldn't purchase from, but that's another story...

Well..
I am 17 and when I was 10 my mom took me into the puppy place for the first time
I thought we were having a party and were going to the old lucky wishbone place to get food..haha
When I first saw my dog rosie..she jumped into my arms..and i remember saying thankyou..over a hundred times while my mom was paying...
Then After we got rosie fixed we had to go redeeem our check from the lady to get a feund for our netur for rosie..which is FREE...
When I saw Boots..
Just one look and my mom was in love
So we took home our SECOND puppy place dog about 3 months later
Then recently I walked in not knowing I would come out with the most adorable little kitten..about 9 weeks old..
Its a simease mix
And only about 100 dollars
Which isnt bad because at the shelters you would have to pay for the netur and spaying of the animal..
So I love the puppy place
And the dogs are great
and they turn out so loving and gentle
I would totally reccomend the puppy place
:]

UPDATE 10-2-08 RE: CAITLIN

I need to get a clue, eh? You bought one kitten from The PUPPY Place, I bought one dog. My dog is happy and healthy, and I'm still visiting shelters on a regular basis and checking out the dogs on Petfinder. I agree that shelters are great, I simply don't approve of people criticizing a quality business without cause. It sounds like your kitten wasn't in any trouble; rather, you were the one who couldn't deal with the conditions in which it was living on a very temporary basis.

We purchased our Boxer puppy from The Puppy Place in January of 2008, and are beyond pleased with our experience! Our dog is healthy, happy, and beautiful. She does not have any health problems, and is growing steadily into a full size bundle of energy.

I find the negative reviews of The Puppy Place to be suspect, as they were posted by individuals who have never purchased a puppy from The Puppy Place, simply visited. While I agree the mention of "adoption" on the window is a bit misleading, as soon as you step into the building it becomes apparent that this is a puppy store, not a shelter. The prices are displayed in full, with no extra fees added at the time of purchase. Yes, the puppies are a bit expensive, but this reflects the cost of purchasing them from the breeder, who in turn has spent quite a bit on breeding and raising the pups. The dogs for sale at the puppy place are all very young (but are of appropriate age for purchase), having come straight from the breeder, and you're be hard pressed to find dogs of this age or quality at a shelter (I know, I look on a regular basis)

For the individual who wanted to pay $80, I'm sorry to have to tell you that even at the Humane Society here in Tucson dogs range from $90.50 to $105.50, depending on the age of the dog. And while I'm all in favor of adoption of shelter animals, for some families this isn't an option for a variety of reasons. Instead of judging The Puppy Place for what you perceive as negatives, why not commend them for their years of service to the Tucson dog lover community? I have never met anyone who purchased a dog at The Puppy Place that didn't end up with a healthy dog who lived a long and happy life. We'll be in for our next pup this summer! :-)

We adopted from the Puppy place and had a Great Experience as well! We were also told by the Vet that we chose the best of his litter and is very healthy and HAPPY boy! I would buy from them again!!! I just wish the prices were a bit lower.

I went there looking for a puppy to adopt (as it says on the building) and I was very disappointed. They want you to pay 400-500.00 for a puppy that may not be pure bred. Who wants to pay that much for a mut? I could find one on the street and get it cleaned up and do the same thing they are; selling them for outrageous prices! This is not adopting. Adoption is when you go in, fill out the paperwork, pay the 80.00 fee and take the dog home. There are other things involved in the adoption which you end up paying about 175.00 total. But not as much as this place is charging. Don't waste your time or money.

After buying our puppy at The Puppy Place, we found out that many friends bought their puppies there and have been happy as well. We love our Cockapoo (Spoodle) Mocha and she has been very healthy. Two different vets checked her out and they said that we "picked a good one".
