Great Kitchen

by Rachael C.

We purchased one of the model kitchens from their Bell Rd. site when it closed. The cabinet guy helped us design and order the extra cabinets we would need to finish the project. My kitchen looks amazing and we paid less than half of what we could have paid. It is a closeout store so you can't walk in and expect to find everything you're looking for. But if you have a big project, this place can really save you some cash.

One star too many

by Sue B.

Purchased a kitchen faucet that was a display item-told by the salesperson that it could be returned for store credit which, of course, was untrue. They had cut and crimped the hot and cold water copper lines which makes it unusable. When I tried to return, not only did the refuse but were rude and nasty. Will never shop there again and would not recommend this store. If you do make sure you know exactly how to use all parts and pieces and what is needed.

Construction Lots is best bargain find in Phoenix!!

by Sarah B.

I recently visited Construction Lots after buying a foreclosure in the downtown area. I couldnt believe the selection! They have way more to offer than any of the big box stores. The staff was very helpful. Since this is my first project, they had tons of ideas and advice to help me get started. I have done a lot of shopping around and their prices are unbelievable. This place is one stop shopping, and I will definately be referring it to all of my friends!!

It is a no return store, just check out what you buy before you buy it

by Jay B.

I just want to say that i bought some insulation there at what was supposed to be a good price.. Unfortunately I got it home and after putting it in, I realized that it was R11 packaged to read R13.. at that point, it was not worth taking it down to return.. at that time, they were stocking both but it was not a great experience..

When I'm ready, I will shop there...

by M M.

My mom and I heard about the store, but had never been, so we headed over to check it out. The store seemed endless and they had some of EVERYTHING. We didn't have any questions of staff, as neither one of us were purchasing that day; however, we both must have been asked 10 different times by 10 different emps if there was anything we needed help with or did we have any questions, etc. Everyone was very friendly and wanted to assist us if we needed anything. Also, in observing the staff with *other* customers, they seemed very knowledgeable and helpful. I eavesdropped on a customer being helped w/ kitchen cabinets and another being helped w/ what sounded like a *huge* tiling project - both were very impressive to me. I wish I *had* been there to buy stuff - I saw some very different things that I've not seen at Lowe's or Home Depot and the prices were great! Like I said, when I'm ready, I'm absolutely going back.

Not a place you want to shop...

by John S.

Unless of course you want to patronize a place called CON LOTS and browse through a bunch of garbage in a vain attempt to find what you are actually looking for. None of the shower doors are ever the size anyone wants, and half of them are broken. They are overpriced and not even worth the effort to get there. As for digging helplessly through faucets that are missing half the pieces, that is not a way you want to spend your time.

As for the employees, they try their best to find you something in their horrible stock and are mostly good people. The manager however, seems to think his words are golden and that nobody knows what they really want.

Don't even get me started on the owner...he decided to open another store and overextended his financial and workforce capacities. When the North Phoenix store was doing POORLY because of a very poor location and half-brained advertising attempts, he blamed the mess on his only GOOD manager who I will leave unnamed. This poor man was lured away from his previous employer of many years with promises of a better salary by Rick the OWNER of C Lots . Instead, he was blamed for the other store's failure and fired with no severance.

He had a family to support but that didn't matter to Rick...who just needed a scapegoat for his own failings.

All in all, the management of the company is very self-centered and just wants to squeeze every last dollar out of you for their crummy products. Oh and of course PK who gave the company a positive review is Paul Karprick the manager...

Sure they have SOME good prices, but isn't it worth it to get what you WANT than to compromise with something that's halfway there? And can you really condone these shady business practices all for a "good deal?"

Hmmmmm

by Keith F.

Construction lots is selling there inventory twice. They are listing the same inventory they have in the showroom on Ebay. Which is not a problem until they start selling items out from underneath their customers. They list items on line for sale that they don't actually have for sale at all. When you try to communicate with the company, they are very slow to respond, or they are non-responsive at all. This company is ill-managed and will probably not be in business long with their current business practices.

GREAT EXPERIENCE

by Mike F.

I was at Construction Lots on Washington yesterday and the owner was helping me in the cabinet section. He was easy to talk to and down to earth. He said they are closing the store on Bell, and he offered me the kitchen set up at the store with cabinets, granite counters, Kohler sink and hardware, a $20,000 value fort $4000!!! Door hardware was priced $1.50 each! Bathroom light fixtures $16.00! I was in heaven! I will be back. Oh, they had HUGE marble and stone mosaics about 5 feet round for $99.00! I have seen them for over $1000.00!

awesome if you can find what you want

by Eric B.

The staff is very helpful Benny was exceptional with the tile and stone we talked for about one hour. He shared tricks and they were stellar. I love this place you have to dig through some things but if you are remodeling your home and you can find what you need it will be about half of the cost. The travertine and stone is exceptional! Very Very happy.

Response to the the Elaine and Paul debate

by Anonymous

Well Elaine I Symptathize with your pain over constuction lots I have had a very bad experience with them as well. But dont fear you still have the upper hand in life. If my memory serves me correctly "Paul K" is the manager of the store. And if he has resorted to Web postings to defend his companys actions. It would seem that they are in a very pathetic state. As for my review...
Save Your time and money!! There is no need for hard working people to be subjected to Construction Lots' dismal customer service.

Response to Elaine P

by Paul K.

It is my understanding that when a customer decides to throw their
credit card at the associate TRYING to at least help them that you get what you deserve for that. There is no place for THROWING ANYTHING at associates in any retail store period!!! PS If you hope to exchange anything at an establishment that has a no refund policy then you should at least bring the product back in the same condition as when you purchased it

Response to Paul

by Elaine P.

Yes, in retrospect I probably would not have thrown the credit card on the counter (I did not throw it at the employee) but that manager was infuriating with his pompous attitude. The point of my review was to warn people of their no refund policy and to be careful that what they purchase will work for them.I never said I brought back the door damaged. It was in the same condition as I purchased it.

Worth the Visit

by P K.

I had a small bathroom project to complete and just couldn't find
anything in stock at Home Depot or Lowe's that would work for myself or my wife... until we went to Construction Lots... they had just about everything we were looking for and at a price that was affordable and the sales help was over the top with their help... as a post note, I read a review that talked about crack, whoever that person was, they must be on crack....

I ONLY GAVE ONE STAR BECAUSE THEY DID NOT HAVE LESS

by pissed o.

I ordered a door from Construction Lots because of the idea that I could save a few bucks The door wasn't exactly what I wanted but hey... 50 bucks is 50 bucks. Four weeks go by and I still Dont have my door! After some investigation I found out They owed the vendor too much money to get my door! Now how could this possibly be my fault. Oh yea! I tried to save a few bucks by going something that first reminded me of a swap meet when I walked in the door. Take my advice.... If you happen to be in the getto Take your money to the Crack dealer on the corner instead you'll at least have more of a chance to get what you paid for. He may take off with your money, but at least you expected it.

save money? maybe...

by J C.

sure you can save money on your supplies here. But is it worth all the trips you have to make to and from the store to exchange damaged items. Or is it worth spending the money that you save to pay contractors for sitting around your house doing nothing because you were not provided the product you purchased because Construction Lots sold it to someone else after you paid for it. For my money I would rather spend a few extra dollars and get the project done right. If you need a cheap sink... sure got to Con lots If you are about to spend thousands of dollars on your entire house GO SEE SOMEONE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!

I saved a LOT!!!

by Anonymous

Wow!!! This place saved me about 11 grand on my kitchen compared to Shlome Depot!!! I walked in this place just to see if they had some knobs and I found that they had most of the cabinets I had just had quoted for way less. We're talking pennies on the dollar! I saw a $1500 Jacuzzi tub in there for $888.88- and that included a matching toilet and sink! I couldn't believe it. I know where I'm going to redo my bathrooms/kitchens in my flips from now on. I heard they have a website now too...

Great Bathroom Tile

by Tyler B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,275

With a recent bathroom "re-do" I was thrilled when I first walked into Contriction Lots. I had a friend who came here and reccommended it to me. I found the most georgous tile here for the floors, shower and they had beautiful blue accent tiles. All were very reasonably priced. I prefer to do the work myself, with help as opposed to hire someone. The employess that helped me had all the answers to my seemingly endless questions. I feel that this is a little far for me to drive from North Scottsdale for a future trip, but the store was well worth it!

PROS: Great Service and Seletion
CONS: Hours and location

Do-it-yourself at its ecclectic best!

by Susan M. | insider Insider | Rank: 26,010

This is the place to go if you are looking for a savings when buy tile, flooring, replacement doors, and they even have had a stash of whirlpool tubs that rivals home improvement warehouses. Their stock changes so fast, that if you find something you like, you should buy on the spot.

Their staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeble. Great collection of interesting tiles available the last time I was there.

PROS: Great Selection
CONS: Opens at 9am on a Saturday! Should open at 6 or 7am in AZ!
