Fishy Transmission Repair

by GreasDuibh

We had a 2002 Hyndai I just sank $1000 into and 2 days after getting the car out of that shop, it wouldn't go into gear. The mechanic said it was the transmission, but we weren't sure because of all the work he just finished doing. Had Premier Transmission look at it for a second opinion. They gave a great quote at first but then said it needed more work-- $1900 more. The car was valued at only $2500 so we decided not to have the work done and just scrap the car. When we told the guy that, he said we could pick it up after paying $1300 for the work they did. They took the transmission apart and rebuilt it. No way! We didn't authorize the work and I wasn't going to pay that. We worked out a deal that they would try to sell it and get what they could after they gave us a fixed amount. Had not heard from them for a month, but then we get a citation in the mail 3 days ago. Obviously, they were driving it around, speeding. At least they fixed the car. But I would not recommend them for doing the work without any permission, and then expect me to pay for it.

Pros: Great quote

Cons: Everything else

Great Price Great Service

by Aragorn452

These guys were great. They gave me a quote which is exactly what I paid for my transmission. They made a few suggestions on additional items like transmission mounts (the old ones were shot even an accountant, which I am, could see that). They turned the truck around in two days. I'm even getting better gas mileage by about 1.5 mpg. The work was done around the end of December and I have been meaning to recommend them ever since.

Pros: Great Price, Quick Turn Around

Cons: NONE

Inexpensive, but negligent

by sorrels19

The positive about Premier Transmission in Mesa: They are inexpensive and can get you in quickly.

The negative: This area is known for theft, but when I went to pick up my car, it was sitting in the parking lot with the window down WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION! To make matters worse, when I took my car in, it was about 100 miles away from needing an oil change - when I picked it up, I was 25 miles OVER needing a oil change. Where did they drive my car WITHOUT MY PERMISSION for over 125 miles?

And apparently their staff doesn't know how to read an odometer because they put on my invoice that my car has 95k miles on it when it really has 78k.

Ask yourself before going to Premier: Is the less expensive price of your repair worth taking your vehicle to a place that 1) can't read an odometer, 2) will drive your car without your permission, and 3) LEAVES YOUR KEYS IN THE IGNITION WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN.

Pros: Inexpensive

Cons: Negligent

the Review is still out...

by mercendarian

I don't know what to say. They (Brian) took my $1818.00, said they'd deliver my car to the west valley, and it wasn't at my house when I left it(house) at 7:00pm. Brian said he'd send me an invoice of what was done, to my email, and THAT hasn't arrived. Invoice & car,--that's what I'm waiting on now.
